Top 4 Dropshipping Payment Processors for US and Non-US Residents in 2020

One of the most important aspects of a dropshipping business is payment processing. However, it can be difficult to choose the right payment processor for your business — whether you’re a US or non-US resident. You may also experience problems with processors such as PayPal and Stripe, which may lead you to turn away from those and seek alternatives. Check out these four dropshipping payment processors and find the right one for your business.

How Stripe Changed eCommerce

Before the introduction of Stripe, which made it easy for ecommerce business owners to set up payment and get approval, there were many steps involved in setting up payment processing. Some of these steps included:

  • Setting up merchant accounts
  • Handling payment gateways
  • Organizing and maintaining sufficient documentation

All of these steps made it a daunting task to set up payment processing. With the advent of Stripe, business owners (including dropshippers) could easily accept online payments via credit card and other methods.

However, with more simplicity comes more responsibility: Stripe can easily shut users down for violations or customer mistrust. Stripe, like other payment processing platforms, has the best interest of the customer in mind, which can lead to shutting you down if your dispute rate or chargeback rate is too high.

If you’re just starting out in dropshipping and need a reliable dropshipping payment processor that can give you the best results, you may want to use Stripe. But there are also other options, depending on your needs and preferences. The following are our picks for the top four dropshipping payment processors available for both national and international users.

1. Stripe

screen grab discussing Stripe and its benefits as a payment processing platform

Although certain caveats come with using Stripe, we still recommend this for both new and veteran users. The main reason we recommend Stripe is because it takes no time to get approved, and you can begin taking payments immediately after setup.

As your business begins to grow, managing Stripe could become more complicated. For instance, Stripe may begin holding your funds if your dispute rate exceeds one percent. Eventually, this could lead to shutting you down.

While you may risk having funds withheld and your account closed if you experience too many issues, Stripe is still one of the most reliable payment processors out there. You just need a solid plan so you can manage disputes and chargebacks.

Even if you are in another country where Stripe isn’t supported, you may still be able to set up an account.

2. PayPal

We also still suggest you use PayPal, simply because of the boost in conversions that it can give you. This is because while you can still get conversions if you set up Stripe and a sales funnel, you can gain more credibility if you take the time to set up a PayPal account and include that badge in your sales funnel.

A lot of people also prefer to pay with PayPal because of its dependability and security. It also tends to make it easy for customers to make a purchase. You can even integrate Clickfunnels and Paypal, which I go over in this step-by-step video.

On the other hand, many people are hesitant to use PayPal because of certain issues that can happen. After all, PayPal has been known to withhold funds in many cases, slowly paying users in small increments. Regardless, it’s still worth having PayPal for the sake of boosting credibility and conversions.

However, we do recommend that before opening up a PayPal account, it’s best to set up your sales funnel and Stripe account first. Ensure it’s all working the way it should. Then you can add PayPal to the mix.

If you’re a non-US resident and can’t get approved for Stripe or PayPal, there are a couple of alternatives that we recommend.

3. Payoneer

In some cases, you may not be able to set up Stripe. If you can set up a PayPal account, it’s perfectly possible to use this platform without Stripe and build your business that way. But it’s best to have both, particularly if you’re just getting started in the dropshipping business.

Keep in mind that, like with other dropshipping payment processors, you will have to deal with certain processes on Payoneer that can make setting up a little tricky.

A few of the steps involved in setting up Payoneer and connecting it with Stripe will include:

  1. Signing up for a Payoneer account and linking it to your bank account
  2. Setting up a business LLC
  3. Using your LLC to create a Stripe account

We understand that the very thought of going through the process of setting up a business LLC may induce some eye-rolling. But there are certain steps that business owners need to take, and doing so will be worth it in the long run.

What happens when you create an LLC for both Payoneer and Stripe?

You can then connect that Stripe account with your Payoneer account. This step will enable you to receive payments in your local bank account. The entire process can take a few weeks to complete, but it will be more than worth the effort in the long run.

Once you have all of this set up and you’re ready to go, we can’t emphasize enough the importance of having backups in the event that something goes wrong and puts your business at risk. This leads us to our next recommendation.

4. Easy Pay Direct

screen grab of Easy Pay Direct, one of the four dropshipping payment processors that acts as a backup system

If you don’t have sufficient backups in place for your payment processing accounts on PayPal, Stripe, or Payoneer, this can leave your business vulnerable. If Stripe or another processor shuts you down for any reason and you have no backup solution, then you won’t receive payments. Subsequently, neither will your employees, leading you to essentially shut down your business.

Easy Pay Direct is a great way to make sure you have backups in place. It’s basically a payment gateway, which is a kind of portal that can give you insights into multiple merchant accounts. Using Easy Pay Direct, you can be comfortable in knowing that you’ll always be in business even if something happens to your Stripe account or another account. Accidents can always happen in business, which is why it’s best to be prepared, and Easy Pay Direct is crucial to keep you protected.

You may need to build up some sales volume before you can get approved for Easy Pay Direct. Because of this, we recommend you set up your Stripe, PayPal, and Payoneer accounts first. Then scale your business before turning to Easy Pay Direct as a backup. You may also wind up paying fees upwards of a couple hundred dollars per month for Easy Pay Direct, but think of it as insurance that’s worth the investment.

Each of these dropshipping payment processors and gateways can help you only receive payments quickly and easily. They can also make sure that your business is consistently protected in the event of any issues with your accounts. Another great way to make sure your business is as consistently profitable as possible is to automate your order fulfillment process.

How to Automate Order Fulfillment in Clickfunnels and AliExpress

You may already be making money through Clickfunnels sales funnels. But you want to automate the order fulfillment process. If you’re already branding and sourcing your own products and looking to easily fulfill your orders through Clickfunnels and AliExpress, there are a few solutions that can help get the job done right. Keep reading to learn how to automate order fulfillment.

Use Dropton to Automate Order Fulfillment

Recently, Dropton released easy-to-use software that can help with order fulfillment. The great thing about Dropton is that it can serve as your order hub with plenty of features. A couple of one-click functions you can handle with Dropton include:

  • Performing all tracking
  • Transferring orders from Clickfunnels to Dropton

Ultimately, the Dropton software can help you avoid a lot of the pains of order fulfillment. While we may have recommended a different kind of software to use for order fulfillment in the past, other software with similar functions tend to take a commission off of sales. Dropton doesn’t. That alone makes Dropton a good option as you’re deciding how to automate Clickfunnels.

Keep in mind that not everything done in Dropton is automated. You will need to perform some manual tasks. But they mainly entail clicking a button to fulfill orders, followed by clicking another button to send tracking information. All of this should take no longer than five minutes.

Hire an Experienced VA Through FreeUp for Some Assistance

If you want to further automate the order fulfillment process with Clickfunnels and AliExpress, you can do so by hiring a virtual assistant, or a VA. With the help of a VA, you can have some tasks outsourced so that you can focus on more important matters.

FreeUp is a great source for a reliable VA. It has pre-vetted Ecommerce freelancers who are familiar with order fulfillment and who can give you the help you need at a price you can afford. Simply let FreeUp know what skills you’re looking for. The site will return results featuring individuals who are pre-vetted to ensure they have the expertise they claim.

Why FreeUp?

screengrab of FreeUp

Compare this to, say, Fiverr or Upwork, where anyone can claim to have a level of expertise and experience without the credentials to back them up. You’re likely to find plenty of professionals with experience in dropshipping on FreeUp.

Working with a VA can be a simple process. For example, you can have Clickfunnels export a Google Sheet with your orders and have your VA manage all the orders. You can also have the VA send that sheet as a bulk CSV file to your company’s supplier to handle all orders.

With a VA behind you to automate your order fulfillment process, you can spend more time on growing your dropshipping business. That includes more creative tasks such as focusing on the sales funnel, increasing conversions, and creating offers. These tasks are more important than worrying about order fulfillment.

However, you may not need to hire a VA. You may be able to work with someone else or spend the minimal amount of time needed to manage fulfillment through Clickfunnels on your own. Regardless, it’s always a good idea to have a VA in mind as a possible resource if things get too hectic for you to manage by yourself. With the right VA, you can help make sure all order fulfillment takes place consistently without worrying about other aspects of your business going overlooked.

Pro Tip:

Before you hire help, get used to performing some of these tasks on your own so that you know what the process entails.

Warning: Avoid Using Clickfunnels for Shopify Integration

screengrab of AppTrends

Do you rely on Shopify for order management, even if you don’t sell through Shopify? If so, then it’s best to stay away from Clickfunnels’s Shopify integration. We have experienced many issues with Clickfunnels when it came to using it in conjunction with Shopify order fulfillment. (But that may change with future updates to the Clickfunnels platform.)

Instead, we recommend using AppTrends so you can use Shopify for backend order management. Using AppTrends, you can connect Clickfunnels to your Shopify store. It works much more dependably than Clickfunnels’s current native integration. Once you use AppTrends to connect Clickfunnels and Shopify, you can then take advantage of all the Shopify apps available. If you want to, you can further automate the process with the help of a personal VA.

Use ShipStation for Sourcing Your Product

If you want to begin sourcing your product into your own fulfillment houses or have your current manufacturer dropship for you, we recommend using ShipStation. This platform can help manage email delivery and other tasks that something like Dropton would handle.

Now, it’s important to remember that your supplier or manufacturer might use entirely different platforms than ShipStation. They may not want to have to learn how to use this platform. For example, if your supplier relies on Shopify, you may have to accommodate this. However,  ShipStation can be ideal if you’re looking for additional ways to automate your processes or looking for new suppliers.

If you try out these platforms and steps, you can more effectively automate order fulfillment in Clickfunnels and AliExpress. By automating things as much as possible, you’ll be able to focus on what really matters when growing your business. Even better, you avoid some of the headache that you might otherwise experience with order management.

Find Winning Products With These Dropshipping Product Research Tools

Empire builders, you already know that the key to success in the ecommerce industry is selling winning products. This is a simple concept, but how exactly do you go about finding these winning products? Check out all the tools I have used to find myself and my Ecommerce Empire clients extremely profitable dropshipping products below. Don’t just take my word for it. Start using these dropshipping product research tools in your own market research to find profitable ecommerce products and niches today.

Market Research Is What Sets You Apart

There are tons of individuals joining the ecommerce industry every day. What you need to understand is that market research is what separates the success stories from the “could have, would have, should have” stories. There is no magic pill, site, or product when it comes to success in the ecommerce industry. You have to put the work in, and you have to put emerge yourself into market research on the daily if you want to have success within this industry.

The research tools I’m about to share with you are the tools I use myself in all of my market research efforts. I also recently revealed some of the top-performing products right now. I focus primarily on utilizing free market research tools. It’s all you really need to find winning products. However, I will share some paid market research tools that I have found success with too.

Free Market and Dropshipping Product Research Tools

Before you go looking for the perfect product or sourcing method, you must make sure there is a market for the products or niche you’re trying to get into. Don’t be the person selling products or breaking into a niche where people aren’t already buying. Your compelling offer and good marketing mean nothing when you’re selling a product that nobody wants. You have to do your research before jumping headfirst into a niche. Search for articles that discuss market trends and utilize the following free tools to determine if a potential product or niche is likely to be profitable or not.

1. Google Trends

screenshot of "bread baking" search volume over time on Google

The first free market research tool I recommend using is Google Trends. You can use this tool to find the average search volume of various keywords, phrases, products, or niches. I love using this tool as it gives an excellent insight into the potential that exists within various products or niches. For example, you could look up the average search volume for the phrases “bread baking” or “bread machine.” If these phrases show a strong average search volume, then bread-making products may be a good niche to get into.

2. Amazon

After using Google Trends to determine if a niche looks promising, I make my way over to Amazon. Believe it or not, Amazon is one of the best free-market research tools for dropshippers. Amazon gives you access to real market data by showing you what products are selling well in various sales categories. You always have to look at the data because data never lies.

The first thing I like to do when I get to Amazon is to type in a keyword or product and then put a space after it. This will show you what the most popular searches are regarding this product or niche. For example, if you type in “bread making” and put a space, Amazon will show you the most popular searches with this phrase. This shows you what potential customers are already looking for and gives you insight into potential products you can include within your sales funnel.

You can use Amazon to discover both physical products and information products you can use to pair with your front end product. Once again, with bread making as your niche, you can find information products like popular bread making books that are selling on Amazon. Look at the table of contents of these popular books and then create a quick, yet beneficial 3-4 page information product that gives the beginner bread maker some tips or tricks.

Overdelivering is key with first-time customers. You can’t just have a front-end offer. It would be best if you paired your front-end offer with complementary physical and information products that provide added value and incentive to the customer. You have to make your offer both clear and enticing to make the sale.

3. AliExpress

The final free market research tool I frequently use is AliExpress. After I’ve seen what products are selling well in a potential niche on Amazon, I head on over to AliExpress to discover how I could source these potential products.

The first thing I do on AliExpress is to look at the current sales volume of potential products. If there are tons of units being sold, I have a winner as there is a clear demand for the product. After I’ve determined the product’s potential, I search AliExpress for complimentary products and order bumps that I can offer with my front-end offer.

Paid Market Research Tools

Now, the three free dropshipping product research tools are all you need to have success with your own market research. However, I understand some of you might want something that provides a little more in-depth analysis.

If you’re going to pay for a market research tool, I recommend getting a subscription to Ecomhunt. I’ve used this site to find some cool products in my various niches. The site gives you access to an in-depth analysis of various products, Facebook ad examples, and YouTube videos of the product being used all in one convenient location. Keep in mind that there is no magic research tool — paid or unpaid. Your success within the industry will be determined by your ability to put in consistent effort.
