5 Pitfalls to Avoid for Successful Dropshipping

In the dynamic world of e-commerce, dropshipping emerges as an attractive business model due to its low startup costs and the potential for high profits. However, the path to successful dropshipping is strewn with common mistakes that can deter your progress. As a beginner, recognizing these pitfalls is half the battle. The other half involves learning how to navigate around them. With a focus on website design, product selection, supplier reliability, compelling ad creatives, and enticing offers, let’s delve into the “5 Pitfalls to Avoid for Successful Dropshipping.”

Navigating the Online Store Landscape

Starting your journey in the world of dropshipping can feel like walking through a maze. You’re eager to reach the exit — or in this case, profitability — but may find yourself making wrong turns or hitting dead ends. One major challenge beginners often face is designing an engaging, user-friendly online store. Websites are the virtual storefronts of your business; if they’re subpar, you’re setting yourself up for failure.

Product Selection: The Make-or-Break Decision

After perfecting your virtual storefront, the next hurdle is product selection. You might find this challenging due to the vast array of options available. Remember, choosing poor-quality or unappealing products can significantly hamper your business. The secret to unlocking dropshipping success is identifying products that are not only high-quality but also have a broad appeal. While it may be tempting to venture into trendy or gimmicky products, they might not guarantee sustainable customer interest.

Sourcing Products: The Importance of Reliable Suppliers

Another rookie mistake often encountered in dropshipping is relying on inefficient suppliers. Your chosen suppliers can have a significant impact on your customer relations. Partnering with the wrong ones may lead to overpriced products and extended shipping times, turning your customers away. Hence, it is crucial to work with suppliers that offer a wide range of high-quality products, competitive pricing, timely delivery, and the option for product customization.

Ad Creatives: Your Secret Weapon

While it’s important to focus on product selection and supplier reliability, never underestimate the power of compelling ad creatives. Your marketing efforts can attract potential customers and drive sales. Thus, you need to spend time crafting and testing ad creatives that grab attention and generate interest. You can gain valuable insights by studying successful competitors. Analyzing their ad strategies can reveal what works and what doesn’t, enabling you to craft compelling ads for your products.

Offers and Upsells: The Art of Enticement

Lastly, enticing offers are vital for boosting your conversion rates. Offering discounts or special deals can significantly impact your business’s success. A lack of enticing offers could be the missing piece of your dropshipping puzzle. One powerful strategy is implementing pre and post-purchase upsells. This method, offering customers a discounted price on a second purchase immediately after their initial one, can effectively increase the average order value and maximize revenue per customer.

Looking Ahead: A Road to Success

In the ever-evolving world of dropshipping, it is important to continually learn, adapt, and refine your strategies. Understanding and avoiding these common mistakes can significantly improve your chances of success in this competitive landscape. Make sure to equip yourself with the right tools, remain flexible, and always be prepared to switch up your strategies when necessary. Your journey in dropshipping is just beginning, and the road to success is within your grasp.

Mastering Dropshipping Success for Beginners

As the world of e-commerce continues to flourish, the appeal of dropshipping has never been greater. This business model, renowned for its low startup costs and operational flexibility, has empowered countless entrepreneurs to venture into the online retail space. If you’re aspiring to join this booming industry but feel unsure of where to begin, worry not. In this blog, we will go over Mastering Dropshipping Success for Beginners.

Finding Your Winning Product

Every successful dropshipping business starts with identifying a high-demand product. This task may seem daunting at first, but with the right strategies, it becomes manageable. One effective strategy involves scrutinizing Amazon’s bestseller tab. Sift through this gold mine until a product grabs your attention. Remember to ask yourself these vital questions: Does this product solve a problem? Can it be sold for at least triple its purchase price? Is it easy to ship?

Further insights can be garnered from social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. These platforms have become rich resources for trending products. Seek out hashtags such as #TrendingProducts or #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt, which will guide you toward potential winners. Lastly, consider leveraging software tools like minea.com, known for analyzing and highlighting successful e-commerce products.

Setting Up Your Online Store

After identifying your winning product, the next step in your dropshipping journey involves establishing your online store. Platforms like storefunnels.net make this process a breeze, thanks to their pre-loaded templates. They also come with a user-friendly interface, making it an excellent choice for beginners.

Professionalism in this venture is crucial. Therefore, creating a new Google account specifically for your store is recommended. This separate business email will not only maintain your professionalism but also enhance your brand’s credibility.

Naming and Branding Your Store

Your store’s name and branding carry significant weight in your business’s success. A well-chosen name can connect with your customers and make your products more memorable. Tools like Chat-GPT can help you generate unique names related to your chosen product. Once you’ve decided on a name, purchasing a domain through reliable providers like GoDaddy becomes your next step.

Designing a simple and relevant logo adds a visual identity to your brand. Platforms like Canva can be used to create your logo without breaking the bank. A good logo should be simple, use a maximum of three colors, and be saved as a PNG file without a background.

Optimizing Your Store

Next on your checklist is optimizing your online store. Start by importing your winning product and setting its price to at least three times its cost. This pricing strategy allows for a perceived discount, thus making the product more attractive to potential customers.

Your product page is where the sales magic happens. Pay extra attention to your product descriptions and highlight the problems your product solves. If possible, consider using AI tools to craft compelling descriptions and headlines. The inclusion of customer reviews can also provide social proof, boosting your product’s credibility.

Driving Traffic to Your Store

With your store all setup, the final step is attracting customers. Start by investing in paid traffic through platforms like Facebook and TikTok ads. Monitor the performance of these ads closely, and if profitable, consider expanding your strategy to include organic traffic. This approach could involve creating social media accounts and promoting your products through engaging content.

Starting and scaling a successful dropshipping business requires effort, dedication, and a willingness to learn. But with the roadmap provided in this blog post, you’re well-equipped to embark on this exciting journey. Remember, consistency is key, and with each step you take, you’re moving closer to your entrepreneurial dream.

How to Boost Your Dropshipping Profits

In the dynamic landscape of dropshipping, businesses are perpetually seeking effective strategies to enhance their profitability. Key among these strategies is the judicious implementation of upsells and downsells in the sales funnel. This approach, when executed correctly, can substantially boost profit margins. In this blog, we will go over How to Boost Your Dropshipping profits with these simple yet easy strategies.

Strategizing Upsells and Downsells

Implementing an effective funnel system for your dropshipping business can drastically increase profitability. A key aspect of this strategy revolves around the successful application of upsells and downsells. These are powerful tools that can significantly improve your profit margins when used correctly.

To illustrate this, consider a business selling niche hobby items. They have not only an initial product but also several upsells and downsells. Each upsell corresponds to a downsell. The downsells offer the same product as the upsell but at a slightly discounted rate.

Upsells and Downsells: Your Business Boosters

Interestingly, all their upsells, with the exception of a new one still being tested, generate profit. Here lies a remarkable opportunity for you. If your funnel is already converting but not bringing in the profit you desire, experiment with adding more upsells. On the other hand, if your first upsell isn’t converting well, consider adding a downsell. Tweaking these elements in your funnel allows you to discover the most lucrative setup for your business.

Product Selection: Offering Real Value

However, it’s crucial to remember not to add random products as upsells. The key to successful upselling lies in providing value and relevance to the customer. When a customer purchases your initial product, the upsells should enhance that product or the experience it offers.

The upsells and downsells should, therefore, be closely related to the initial product purchased by the customer. This not only increases the chances of conversion but also ensures a better customer experience.

This image represents How to Boost Your Dropshipping Profits

Upsells: Problem Solvers

Perhaps a less obvious aspect of selling a product is that it can introduce new problems for your customers. For example, when a customer purchases a new hobby item from you, they might face challenges using the product, or they might need complementary products for a more fulfilling experience. Your upsells and downsells can provide solutions to these newfound problems, enhancing customer satisfaction while increasing your profits.

Physical and Digital Product Upsells

There is a myriad of options when it comes to selecting products for upsells. Physical products related to the initial product often work well. For inspiration, you might consider browsing through the ‘frequently bought together’ sections on major eCommerce platforms.

Digital products, such as eBooks and online courses, also make great upsell items. Websites that offer pre-made digital content can be an excellent resource for finding these products. Offering these as upsells not only increases your average cart value but also allows you to spend more on ads and earn more profits.

In conclusion, implementing an effective strategy for upsells and downsells can drastically improve your dropshipping business’s profitability. Ensuring these offers are relevant and valuable, and solve problems related to your initial product will boost your profits and enhance the customer experience. Remember to continuously test and optimize your upsells and downsells for the best results. The power to boost your business profits lies in your hands.

Four Strategies for Successful Dropshipping

In the world of ecommerce, dropshipping has become a popular business model. However, not everyone who ventures into it is successful. While some people may struggle to find a footing in the market, others seem to have discovered the secret to unlimited success. In this article, we will discuss four strategies that can help you achieve infinite success in your dropshipping business.

Understanding the Importance of Niche Stores vs. General Stores

Understanding the key differences between a general store and a niche store is essential for success in the world of e-commerce. While some business owners might be tempted to open a small general store to test the market, it’s crucial to remember that this strategy could result in dispersed efforts, squandered resources, and muddled brand identity. Instead, you have the chance to develop a personalized and captivating brand story that connects with your target audience by concentrating on a particular niche group of people. This specialized strategy can assist you in establishing your authority in your industry, enhancing your credibility, and ultimately attracting the ideal clientele. You may fine-tune your advertising and marketing techniques, build a solid and consistent brand image, and eventually stand out in a crowded e-commerce scene by focusing on a certain market.

The Distinction Between Stores and Funnels: A Change in Dropshippers’ Perspective

Secondly, it’s crucial to understand when and where to use a store versus a funnel. While a store can be a great platform to showcase your products, a funnel is a powerful tool for converting leads into loyal customers. With a funnel, you can target specific audiences with tailored messages and offers, creating a personalized customer journey that leads to higher conversions and more sales. Unlike a store, a funnel is designed to guide customers through the buying process, using strategic upsells and downsells to maximize revenue. By understanding the power of a funnel and its ability to turn cold traffic into repeat buyers, you can create a reliable and sustainable source of income for your business.

Boosting Sales with Monthly Subscriptions

Thirdly, adding monthly subscriptions can be a highly profitable tactic that not only boosts your revenue but also cultivates a network of devoted customers. Your consumers will have a predictable and consistent experience when using a subscription-based service or product from you, which will make it simpler for them to plan and budget their expenditures. Additionally, this strategy gives you a chance to build a stronger relationship with your clients because they will receive regular updates, special content, and tailored offers. This encourages customer retention and fosters a sense of community around your business. You may concentrate on creating new goods and enhancing current ones with the regular income from subscription plans, ultimately resulting in increased business growth. Offering monthly subscriptions is a smart and customer-focused strategy for growing your business in a world where clients demand ease and value.

The Power of Automation for E-commerce Success

Lastly, automation is a critical element in a dropshipping business, and it’s more than just a convenience. Automation can help you save time and money, and it can streamline your business operations. When you automate your sales process, you can focus on other aspects of your business while your automated system works to drive sales. You can set up automated email campaigns that engage customers, send promotions, and recommend other products that match their interests. You can also automate your social media and advertising campaigns, allowing you to scale up your business operations without needing to hire additional staff. With automation, you can create a seamless and personalized customer experience that increases customer loyalty and encourages repeat business.

How to Grow Your Dropshipping Business with Youtube Shorts

Are you an eCommerce business owner looking for a way to increase your sales without spending a fortune on ads? In today’s blog post, we will discuss a proven strategy. How to Grow Your Dropshipping Business with Youtube Shorts by making simple product videos.

How this E-commerce Store Drives Sales With Zero Ad Spend

Firstly, let’s talk about the example of Ravvisa.com, a Dropshipping business that has been using this exact strategy to drive over 5.3 million people to their website. They found a unique product that had some sort of demonstratable characteristics and started creating engaging videos of people using the product. This strategy helped them generate $50,000+ in sales with zero ad spend.

How To Implement This Strategy in Your Dropshipping Business

Now, let’s dive into how you can implement this strategy for your Dropshipping business. The first step is to find a unique product that can be demonstrated in videos. To find such products, you can search on TikTok for creators who shoot videos about these products on Amazon. You can look for products that have gone viral and try to find similar products that you can demonstrate in videos.

Once you have found a product, the next step is to start creating engaging videos of people using the product. You don’t need to hire a professional videographer for this. In fact, the less polished and professional the videos are, the more authentic and accessible your product will look. Try to think of different situations and scenarios in which the product can be used and demonstrate it the same.

The third step is to mix your content with current trends. Try to tap into current trends and show your product in a way that resonates with your audience. You can use trending sounds, hashtags, and hooks to create content that people actually want to see. If you create shareable content, people will send the link to their friends, which can make it go viral.

This image represents How to Grow Your Dropshipping Business with Youtube Shorts

The Key to Making This Work For Your Business

Consistency is the Key. You cannot expect to go viral with just one video. You need to be consistent in creating videos and try different things until you figure out what works. Once you figure out what the algorithm favors, the algorithm will start to push your videos over time. Even videos with fewer views will start gaining more engagement and traction as your viral videos send them more traffic.

In conclusion, the strategy of generating $50,000+ in sales with zero ad spend is a proven one, and you can implement it for your Dropshipping business too. By finding a unique product that can be demonstrated in videos, creating engaging videos of people using the product, mixing content with current trends, and being consistent in creating videos, you can drive more traffic to your website and increase your sales.

How to Start a Supplement Dropshipping Business

Welcome, empire builders! If you’re new here or still learning the ropes to dropshipping, you’re in luck. Today we’re going to quickly break down and run through the steps of how you can start a supplement dropping business. You’re going to learn how to build your supplement brand 100% online through dropshipping strategies. We’re going to discuss everything from picking out suppliers and supplements to understanding how to capitalize on these decisions through advertisement and sales funnels. With that being said, let’s jump right in.

How to Start a Supplement Dropshipping Business

You’ll find that supplements are incredibly trendy right now with the current pandemic situation. But the truth is that they’ve always been a popular target for making sales. Everyone loves to buy that perfect supplement that offers them a little extra boost, and that’s part of what makes starting a supplement dropshipping business such an easy thing to capitalize on.

If you’ve never started a dropshipping business, supplements are slightly different due to the legality that comes along with them. So, if you’re unfamiliar with the market or don’t have time to learn about the legal aspects of marketing supplements, you can still start dropshipping with just $0. If your goal is to get into supplements and you have a bit of a budget, then this short guide is for you.

Selecting and Working With a Supplier

Screen grab of Peter Pru explaining how SMP works

Two suppliers that we’ve already personally vetted are Ship Offers and Supplement Manufacturing Partner (SMP). Both of these are dropshipping suppliers that focus solely on supplements rather than other products. So, how exactly does dropshipping for supplements work? Let’s break it down.

When you pull up SMP, you’ll find their catalog with 242 results for different supplements that you can private label. This means that all of the science, ingredients, manufacturing, and product-specific needs are already put together. All you have to do is pick out the supplement(s) you want to put your label on. With SMP’s supplement catalog, you can quickly click on the items you think will fit your niche and goals. Then you can check out the supplemental facts to make sure they’re a great match.

When picking out which products you want to sell as you start a supplement dropshipping business, you have two basic options. You can go white-label or custom creation.

  • White label is where the science behind creating, manufacturing, and handling the supplements is already done. White label products are ready to go and market as-is. All you have to do is work with a supplier to label the supplements and begin marketing them.
  • With custom creation, you’re working with a unique, new formula and private labeling. The concept for the product is brand new, so there’s going to be more focus on creating the perfect formula, testing it, and actually purchasing inventory.

Start a Supplement Dropshipping Business With Ingredients You Know About

Customer with supplements in his smoothie

In my personal opinion, especially when it comes to supplements, always sell stuff that you use. This can be a way to further market the products, but it can also build trust in what you’re offering.

Once you’ve selected a supplement, you can send an inquiry or request a sample. We always recommend that you reach out, make a call, and start the conversation. You’ll typically speak to a representative so you can learn about what their specific dropship process looks like. This is a great way to start building that relationship with the supplier, and it allows you to get to know about them.

Depending on the inventory of each supplier, sometimes there will be a minimum purchase of 100 or so units rather than on-demand options. This is commonly practiced with white labeling because that supplier will be taking their logo off a product and replacing it with yours.

The same setup goes for the other supplier, Ship Offers. Its interface is similar to AliExpress. So those of you familiar with the platform may find them easier to work with as a supplier. They also offer fulfillment services.

Beginning Sales and Marketing

As empire builders, you know that we have a basic strategy that we follow when creating and building any business. This strategy is proven to work and simple to use. The basic structure relies on three main components.

  1. The Niche — What’s the niche you want to sell to? Specifically, who
  2. Crafting the Offer — What’s your audience getting other than your product? Direct guides that go with the supplement or maybe a bundle discount?
  3. Your Funnel — This is the structure of your sales pitch. It includes your niche lingo, what your offer gives customers, and more.

Knowing how to build and use sales funnels will be crucial to growing your business.

Learning to Drive and Manage Traffic

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing how to market supplement products and drive sales

Now that you’ve selected your supplements and partnered with a supplier, it’s time to drive traffic to your marketing campaign. For years, we’ve used the same basic strategy to manage and maintain our sales. This is especially true when you start a supplement dropshipping business. There are so many options out there, and brand loyalty is major among consumers.

The trick is combining influencer shoutouts with retargeting ads. The idea behind it is that you’re driving warm traffic to your offer and your funnel. Retargeting ads then pop up for consumers that have already seen a little bit of what your brand has to offer. Whether that be through an influencer’s post or another ad, the exposure of seeing your business’s supplement offer pop back up is warming them up to the idea that you’re familiar and they have a connection with you.

Through these ads, lead consumers back to your landing page for a specific supplement. Showcase the ingredients and supplemental facts. Then highlight similar products that are frequently bought together, and offer even more deals with bundles. Your landing page can be extremely basic but display the highlights customers care about:

  • What are the ingredients?
  • How do you use it?
  • Can we see people using it?
  • Can we see some reviews?
  • Where do I buy it?

3 Best Side Hustles to Make Money at Home in 2021

2020 had people shut down their businesses and stay at home. However, those in online hustles were at an advantage because money was still flowing into their pockets. Running an online business has proven that it can be more than just a luxury; it is now a necessity for supplementing your primary income source. So if you are wondering which side hustle is suitable for you to make money at home, here are the best suggestions to start in 2021 from the comfort of your home. I can testify they are ideal because I have been making money from them for the past ten years, and you can, too.

The great thing about these three side hustles I will discuss below is that they are complementary. You do not have to restrict yourself to one. You can work on them together and unlock multiple income sources; each of them will offer you a different revenue stream.

Ecommerce and Dropshipping

Peter Pru showing how to find and price items from AliExpress

Dropshipping remains my top choice for anyone looking to get started in an online business and make money at home. It entails having an online store that fulfills orders, but you don’t need a warehouse to store inventory. Instead, you get customers to make orders, which you pass on to a third-party supplier who then ships the order directly to the customer.

You are responsible for setting the selling price. Since you will incur the cost of marketing (in both time and money) to your customers, the final price is usually at a premium. One ideal example of a service that facilitates dropshipping is AliExpress

Pro Tip:

Once you create your online store, ensure that the prices you set are comparable with those on Amazon.

How Do You Ensure Customers Buy From Your Dropshipping Business?

You might start wondering why a customer would choose your new dropshipping business over Amazon when the prices are within the same range. You could reason that the customer has a history with Amazon they may want to keep. However, succeeding with a dropshipping business is about creating more value, not just delivering products.

The secret to having customers shop with you is to offer them digital products with their order. The best way to create more value for your products is by giving your customers PLR (Private Label Rights) products. You buy rights for PLR products to enable you to create or modify informational products within minutes, which you can then sell or bundle with physical goods and retain 100% of the profits.

PLR products come in various forms, including articles, video, graphics, ebooks, and more. So you are spoiled for choice with the kind of informational product you can create to bundle up with the dropshipping products. Of course, the PLR products you send with the ordered product have to be related. For example, say a customer orders a blackhead removal product. Then the PLR product you bundle it up with can be a video course or ebook in the skincare category.

The best policy for starting to make money at home is by being generous with information. If you know what would interest customers, give it to them either as a bonus or sell it. However, do not overwhelm your customers with information by sending lots of informational products at the same time. Two products bundled in with their orders will do.

Selling Digital Products

Once you get the gist of dropshipping and pairing physical products with informational products, you can easily complement that side hustle by selling digital products. Instead of just giving the products as bonuses, you can upsell them to your customer. Usually, you can combine at least five of the PLR products because you can already guess that the customer would be interested in them.

However, you cannot just rely on waiting until customers make orders to entice them to buy more of your digital products. You must diversify your marketing tools to include social media accounts and YouTube.

While being unique can gain you a competitive advantage, you do not want to be the first to sell a product. It is too risky. Therefore, check out what other companies are already selling by going to Udemy. By searching for ideas in the particular niche you want to pursue, you will find the top content creators. They can give you a rough idea of what consumers want.

Such research will enable you to create relevant course outlines for your video course, podcast, or whatever digital product you are interested in selling. You should, however, be careful not to plagiarize anyone’s content. Remember to always offer the customer the right information and good value for their money, regardless of how much you are charging for it.

Affiliate Marketing

Peter Pru showing viewers how to start affiliate marketing with ClickBank

Affiliate marketing provides a way to make money at home by driving traffic to other people’s sites. You earn a commission for each customer who visits the business you are promoting through your personalized link. The key to being a good affiliate marketer is to promote a product you like.

Let’s consider an example. Say you sell woodworking products but do not have time to make a video course promoting your tools. You can be an affiliate marketer for woodworking video courses. Since customers who purchase your products may like a woodworking course to show them how to use particular tools, you can promote one and still earn money from every customer who buys it.

If you develop a successful dropshipping business, it’s possible to quit your job and become a full-time dropshipper. Here, we’ll tell you some of the steps you’ll need to take if you want to make dropshipping a rewarding career. Dropshipping can entail a lot of effort. But it will be well worth it as you watch your salary grow and start experiencing the success you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

What Salary Level Should You Hit to Become a Full-Time Dropshipper?

According to some numbers from MSNBC, the average salary for various age groups from around 2018 to 2019, regardless of occupation, were as follows:

  • 16-19 years: $422/week, $21,944/year
  • 20-24 years: $525/week, $27,300/year
  • 25-34 years: $776/week, $40,352/year
  • 35-44 years: $976/week, $50,752/year
  • 45-54 years: $975/week, $50,700/year
  • 55-64 years: $966/week, $50,232/year
  • 65 years and older: $904/week, $47,008/year

Based on these numbers, we’re going to use a baseline of $50,000 annually. If you can make that much every year, you’ll do well for yourself without the need for a full-time job, especially if you’re just getting started on growing your own business instead of slaving for another company’s success.

Sure, your first instinct might be to aim higher than $50,000 per year, with six or seven figures in your mind as the ideal achievement. However, it’s important to be practical and start small. We suggest you focus first on making dropshipping a full-time job, which $50,000 per year will enable you to do.

How to Achieve That $50,000 Goal and Become a Full-Time Dropshipper

With that end goal in mind, assume that you’ll need 20 percent margins and $250,000 in revenue. 20 percent might seem a little low, but this is in line with the more realistic end goal and can keep you from aiming too high from the start. With these goals, you’ll also allow yourself more room for error. You’ll need that space to correct for missteps as you learn what works and what doesn’t.

Target $250,000 in Annual Revenue

To start off, if you want to get to the point where you’re making $50,000 every year through dropshipping, you will need to aim for a revenue of around $250,000 per year. That goal might seem a bit overwhelming at first, but as you break it down like with every other goal, you’ll see how achievable it actually is

Based on the target revenue of $250,000 annually, we can calculate the total amount we’ll need to earn every day, which comes to $684.93. Even that smaller number may intimidate you if that seems like a lot to work for on a daily basis. But this is entirely doable if you have the right systems in place.

The key here will be to develop an efficacious sales funnel that helps you:

  • Attract customers
  • Upsell orders
  • Obtain subscriptions for recurring sale
  • Maximize your customers’ lifetime value

Ultimately, your average cart value should be around $20. Based on our daily goal, you’ll need to try to make around 34 sales per day. Again, that might seem like a lot of sales you need to make. There are also product costs and other expenses associated with those sales. But you can achieve that goal if you focus on increasing the average cart value as opposed to the number of overall sales.

Focus on Increasing the Value of Each Sale with Upsells

To begin moving toward that goal of 34 sales and $684.93 per day, let’s consider how that might be far more achievable if we increase the average cart value from $20 to $30. You might be wondering how that’s even possible beyond simply raising the price of your products. But the key is to increase the number of upsells.

For instance, a customer might be interested in buying a product such as a high-quality pen for $20. You could sell a complementary product like a premium notebook at a discounted price of, say, $15. This is perfect because this encourages the use of the first product and reinforces the customer’s decision to buy the pen. Together, both that pen and notebook would make up a cart value of $35.

Now, not every cart will be worth $30 or more through upselling. Not everyone will take you up on the upsell offers. At the same time, enough people could purchase those products and upsells to help raise the average cart value to $30 or more. In turn, you will need to make fewer sales per day, which puts less pressure on you.

Find Out What Your Niche Wants and Create Enticing Upsells

You can make the most of each sale with ample upsells. These offers encourage the customer to spend more money on each purchase. If you’re worried about running out of ideas for upsells that might be exciting for your customers, then you may need to spend some more time learning your niche before you decide to become a full-time dropshipper. Try to figure out what your customers want and need.

Consider ways to address certain pain points that your customers might have, which your products can relieve. Certain accessories that complement your main products can save customers time and money. For example, for optimal convenience, you may want to include a protective case or a sleeve for that $20 pen, which helps customers complete a package that also includes that $15 notebook. Including these high-quality upsells can help you maximize that cart value so you can boost the average and, subsequently, reduce the amount of average daily sales you need to make.

By implementing a good sales funnel with plenty of upsells that your customers will want, you’ll be well on your way to hitting that $50,000-per-year goal. Then you can quit your job and comfortably become a full-time dropshipper. As your income begins to exceed that goal, you’ll see why dropshipping is worth the time and effort.

How to Use a One Product Sales Funnel to Build a Profitable Dropshipping Store

If you want to create a profitable dropshipping store that sells a single product, you can do so by using Clickfunnels sales funnels. At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we typically use sales funnels to attract and acquire customers in the front end, while Shopify is used in the back end to sell premium-priced products and make additional sales. Regardless of your specific strategy, it’s the one-product sales funnel that will serve as your primary moneymaker and generate profits for your dropshipping business.

How a One Product Sales Funnel Works

One of the first things you’re likely to notice upon encountering a one product sales funnel is that it’s quite different from a Shopify store. On Shopify, people land on a page full of products and various elements, to the point where it can be a bit overwhelming for users. A sales funnel, on the other hand, will direct users to a much simpler page known as a squeeze page. Oftentimes, the squeeze page will request visitors to leave their email in exchange for a free product or discount offer.

After a user leaves their email address on the squeeze page, the user will then be directed to an order form where they will enter their shipping and billing information. This order form shows up in far fewer clicks than users would typically experience when shopping on Shopify, which is why a sales funnel is so effective.

Once the user completes the order form, they will encounter an upsell page that encourages the customer to buy more of a product at a lower unit rate. You can create as many upsell pages as you want as long as customers can clearly see the value of the upsell.

Through the entire sales funnel, the entire process can be completed within just a few clicks. That’s much more appealing than the potentially daunting task of going through the Shopify platform. Experiment with the process with this free funnel template on Clickfunnels.

The Benefit of Bypassing the Shopping Cart

One of the key reasons you’re more likely to experience success with a one product sales funnel through Clickfunnels is that you can avoid the pains of a shopping cart. Normally, Shopify customers would need to add products to their cart — which is often where customers abandon the customer journey.

Customers ordinarily browse an online store and add items to their cart. But once they get to the checkout page and they see the total (including tax and shipping and handling costs), they’re far more likely to turn away from the store entirely. The sales funnel, on the other hand, omits the shopping cart process, leading customers to a quick and easy one-time purchase.

Why Getting Email Addresses Through the Sales Funnel Is Crucial

Before the customer makes a purchase through your sales funnel, they’ll first submit an email address that goes into your database. That email is an invaluable asset for your business because you can follow up with them via email and other marketing channels.

You can use an email address to launch retargeting ad campaigns that help bring customers back to you, or you can launch email campaigns that notify prospects of offers and promotional sales that they’re likely to care about. In the process, you can build trust among those users. As they become more familiar with and trusting of your brand, you’ll have a greater chance of getting them to make a purchase. In this article, I talk more about how to convert non-buyers and get the most value out of every lead.

Remember: while many people may go through the sales funnel and make a purchase right away, most people won’t. In fact, the average conversion rate for a sales funnel is around 10 percent. (But compare this to the under two-percent conversion rate that you would otherwise experience with a Shopify store alone.)

Focus on a Single Valuable Product

screen grab of how to add upsell options to a one product sales funnel

One key mistake that many businesses make with a sales funnel is using it to push too many products, which can overwhelm the user much in the same way a Shopify store might. Instead, focus on a specific product that makes it clear to customers what they should buy.

Ultimately, people prefer to be plainly told what the best value is. They also want businesses to direct them to the ideal product. The last thing they want is to be faced with too many options, particularly if they’re encountering a new, unfamiliar product for the first time.

The best strategy to approach a sales funnel is to focus on a best-selling product that people are more likely to buy. Build your campaign around it. You can then push that product and over-deliver on it with a discount or free shipping, which further drives sales.

Once the customer is ready for an upsell, you can offer another variation of that product, including a higher volume with a discount. You don’t even need to bring the customer to an upsell page. Simply add a bumper to the order form that makes it even easier to add more to their purchase.

In short, spend your energy pushing one high-value product on the front end, and sell more through your Shopify store on the back end.

Keep Prospective and Past Customers Engaged

Keeping in mind that around 90 percent of people won’t actually make a purchase when going through the one product sales funnel, it’s important to do what you can to follow up with as many users as possible to maximize sales.

Using Clickfunnels Automation tools, you can follow up more easily with people based on certain events. For instance, you can create and send out emails for different groups, including:

  • Emails geared toward everyone who’s submitted their email address.
  • Users who saw the page but never made a purchase.
  • Users who made a purchase and are more likely to buy from you again.

We recommend that you create at least three emails for these three groups, which will help you get the most from your sales funnels.

Make sure to set a delay for each email, starting with a delay of around one hour, one day, and then two days later for people who’ve visited the squeeze page but never made a purchase. This will help remind people to come back without being too pushy. For people who’ve actually purchased, it’s often best to set a delay of around two days before sending an enticing upsell offer.

Clickfunnels makes it incredibly easy to format and customize each email, so you should have these campaigns up and running in no time.

Other Ways to Optimize Your One Product Sales Funnel

In addition to automated email campaigns, you can also automate upsells. You can set up reminders for visitors who never purchased those upsells. If they decide to buy, they’ll be automatically billed, which means you earn a quick sale and the customer makes a hassle-free purchase.

However, it’s important to let people know that they will be billed automatically in these cases. One way to turn away a customer is to leave them with unpleasant surprises. You also have the option of sending order confirmation emails to customers after they make a purchase, which people always appreciate.
