From Selling Gag Gifts to Earning $1,000,000 as a Successful Dropshipping Store

Empire builders, are you ready to create your own $1,000,000 dropshipping store? To help you speed through your dropshipping learning curve, check out the case study I did on an extremely successful dropshipping store below. In this case study, I’ll take you through the inside of a business that is making millions each month. You can use these key takeaways and implement them into your own eCommerce business today.

Manscaped

The dropshipping store that we will be analyzing today is Manscaped. When this store came out two to three years ago, it was a joke that just sold gag gifts. However, the store has now transformed from gag gifts to a million-dollar business.

There are a ton of things I love about this store and a few things I don’t. Today, I will clue you in on what I think Manscaped gets right and a few things I think they could work on. However, at the end of the day, money talks. This store has proven to be extremely profitable, so they’re doing something right.

Ads Are the Bread and Butter of Every Successful Dropshipping Store

In the dropshipping industry, ads are your bread and butter. One thing that Manscaped has perfected is their ads. So, what can you learn from them? First things first, you must do your research. Research is key when it comes to creating a profitable dropshipping business. Always research what types of ads your competition is running. This is free market research, so don’t miss out on this opportunity. If you really want to geek out on marketing, I recommend reading Breakthrough Advertising

For now, head over to the Manscaped Facebook page. There, you can see the types of ads they are running right now. Manscaped runs a variety of ads on Facebook, something that I think every dropshipping business needs to do if they want to be profitable.

Remember, not all ads are created equal.

You can’t run the same ads you do to loyal customers as you do to people who have never heard of your brand. You have to understand the temperature of your traffic and cater your ads to the specific type of customer you are targeting. The two main types of advertisements that Manscaped runs and that you need run for your own business are cold traffic ads and retargeting ads.

1. Cold Traffic Ads

woman scrolling through ads on social media

Cold traffic ads are the ads you run to people who have never heard of your brand before. They don’t know anything about your product yet, so you have to highlight the solution that your product will bring to them.

2. Retargeting Ads

Retargeting ads are the ads you run to customers who have already bought from you or those who already have a sense of what your brand is all about. In these types of ads, you highlight your products while keeping your brand at the forefront of potential customers’ minds.

Manscaped does a good job of running both cold traffic ads and retargeting ads, as you can tell from their Facebook ads library. They also make their advertising fun. Their slogan is, “Over 1 million men trust Manscaped tools for their family jewels.” This is a fun advertisement that uses a play on words to draw customers into the brand.

Use Manscaped’s slogan as inspiration to create a fun and captivating slogan for your business. The thing about ads and marketing is that you can’t just copy and paste someone else’s copy. Great copy and ads are assembled like a puzzle. You take inspiration from multiple sources and then create something unique for your brand.

Perfecting the Landing Page for a Successful Dropshipping Store

Once you’ve learned how to create ads that send traffic to your store, your landing page must be set up to make the sale. If your ad did a good job advertising the product, you can go right in for the sale.

However, if your ad didn’t do a good job of pre-framing the product, then you have to sell the customer on the product. Manscaped’s landing page has a mixture of both. They are telling you about the product, while also selling you on it.

What I Don’t Like About Manscaped’s Landing Page

discussing the multiple product offers on Manscaped's landing page

What I don’t like about Manscaped‘s landing page is that they seem to have too much going on. But a confused mind does not buy. The Manscaped landing page has tabs to other products. This adds confusion for the customer.

People want to be told what’s best. So tell them by focusing on one specific offer. Make this offer clear, and don’t try to showcase every product you sell.

Confusion over this concept is why a lot of dropshippers have great site traffic but poor conversion to sales. They try to sell the customer on a hundred different products at once. Remember, a confused mind will never buy. You can offer different products on your store, but you must only highlight one specific offer when trying to get that first sale. The big takeaway is to always have one clear offer on your landing page. Tell the customer what they want and make the sale. Even if you don’t make the sale immediately, you can keep reaching out with the strategies I discuss here.

What I Do Like About Manscaped’s Landing Page

What I do like about Manscaped’s landing page are its layout and its imagery. They have a scrolling CTA, which is a nice touch. They also have premium images depicting their product. You must have premium images in your store if you want to make big money. This doesn’t necessarily mean professional photographs. 3D rendered images are all you really need to have premium images on your dropshipping site.

Manscaped also does a good job of highlighting their product’s most significant benefit. That’s what a successful dropshipping store does. People don’t need the nitty-gritty information about your product; most of them don’t care.

Highlight the one huge benefit your product has to offer a potential customer. If you don’t know what that one big benefit is, consult with the consumer. Listen and talk to customers about your product. By doing this, you will see a recurring theme about what customers like about your product. This is your selling point. Overall, I love the Manscaped site. The only thing I would change would be to focus on a single offer, rather than trying to sell multiple products at once.

How to Use Instagram Influencer Marketing in eCommerce

Empire builders, you already know that marketing is key when it comes to growing your dropshipping business. Facebook ads are the common go-to for eCommerce marketing, but how can you advertise your products without going down the Facebook route? The simple answer is influencer marketing. Ecommerce Empire Builders has found tremendous success in working with Instagram influencers as part of our marketing strategy for our supplement business. Check out our strategy for converting Instagram shoutouts to sales below.

How Untapped Focus Grew

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we have created a successful supplement company known as Untapped Focus. This company has truly been built on the backs of influencers. We have paid very little in ads toward this business. We took our Instagram page from 100 followers to over 10,000 followers in just a month through our Instagram marketing strategy.

Our marketing strategy was simple.

We paid Instagram influencers for shoutouts. We spent around $600 on this process. However, the investment turned out to be well worth the initial costs as Untapped Focus has been able to thrive from influencer marketing.

The influencers we worked with are probably not the ones you think of right off the bat. In terms of Instagram influencers, there are two types. There are meme page influencers and then personal brand influencers. Meme pages are the Instagram pages that center around a single topic like entrepreneurship, business, or investing. These pages give people tips and content focused on these subjects.

In comparison, personal brand influencers have Instagram pages that are focused on their personality or lifestyle. For growing our supplement company, we primarily worked with meme page influencers. While some dropshippers in the industry have said meme page advertisement is dead, our company is proof that this strategy is still thriving (and it can help no matter what you’re selling).

How to Create a Winning Instagram

new business owner creating an Instagram page

Instagram influencer marketing is great for building your brand awareness. But first, you have to create your own winning Instagram page. Your Instagram page is essentially the landing page of your brand. You have to create an Instagram page that can be a conversion machine before you can have success through influencer marketing.

So, how do you create a winning Instagram page?

1. Writing a Captivating Bio

One element that is extremely important in successful Instagram brand pages is the bio. In the first three to four lines of your bio, you have to sell your product. You do this by showcasing the one main benefit your product can bring to people.

For us, our big, bold statement is that our supplement provides everyone with all-day focus naturally with no calories, sugars, carbs, jitters, or crashes. Remember, your business goal is to provide people with solutions. Make sure your Instagram bio relays to the customer how your product will make their life easier or better in some aspects.

2. Utilizing Story Highlights

A second element you need to nail down on your Instagram brand page is the story highlight feature. Stories are an Instagram feature that allows for both monetization and product education. We use the story highlight feature to educate our customers on everything they need to know about the product. We also have story highlights that go over details like shipping.

Having story highlights that answer common questions in an easy-to-access space is an excellent feature for customers. It also gives you a place to direct customers, so you don’t have to answer the same question repeatedly. Instagram stories also allow you a space to sell your product. This is a feature we use regularly and suggest that you do the same.

3. Having a Mixture of Posts

Post content is the third element that you need to master to set up a winning Instagram brand page. Ultimately, your brand page needs to have a mixture of posts. The two main types of posts you need to have on your Instagram page are viral content posts and product posts

Viral Style Posts

Viral style posts have a hook and draw people in with valuable information nuggets and captivating graphics. This style of post gives people a reason to follow you even if they’re not going to buy your product right away. But make no mistake: each follower you gain is a potential customer.

Product Style Posts

Product style posts educate your followers on what type of products you sell. These posts are designed to help followers see how your product can make their lives easier. These types of posts have a longer copy to drive home the benefits of your product. Think of your Instagram posts as your social media landing page. You want potential customers to know two things. The first is the products that you sell, and the second is how the product can help them better their lives.

You will always want your Instagram branding page to have a variety of these two styles of posts. Utilizing both styles will keep current followers engaged and help to bring in new followers, as well. It also sets a solid foundation for your Instagram influencer marketing strategy.

Working with the Right Influencers

two people browsing Instagram memes together

After you’ve set up a winning Instagram branding page, you need to start working with the right influencers for your Instagram influencer marketing strategy. If you’re looking to grow your following, we recommend working with meme page influencers. There are a few steps that we go through to find the right type of pages to reach out to and work with.

1. Research Popular Meme Pages

The first step in finding influencers to work is conducting research. Get on Instagram and search a keyword like entrepreneurs or business. A ton of meme-style Instagram pages will pop up. Go through this list and look at the content these pages put out and the number of followers they have.

2. Check Out Their Metric on Social Blade

After you’ve created a list of some meme pages that you like, you can head on over to Social Blade. This website will give you all the stats you need to know about these pages, like their engagement levels and daily average growth. A page’s daily average growth is the determining factor for us when it comes to striking an advertising deal with the page. If the page has been able to grow itself successfully, it will help your brand page grow.

3. Strike a Deal

Once you’ve found the prime influencers you want to work with, it’s time to strike a deal. We start by contacting pages, and they generally come back with their rates. We always pay based on a page’s stats. If they come back with an offer that is too high, we respond with something along the lines of, “Based on your stats, this is the offer we are willing to pay.”

This negotiating tactic has worked well for us, and most brands take the deal we offer. The great thing about researching is that a page can’t lie about their metrics. A page’s metrics can easily be found, and their page’s performance metrics ultimately determines their worth.

Paying for influencer shoutouts has yielded our business significant returns. You can have the same results for your eCommerce business as long as you do your research

Unbiased Ecommerce Empire Academy Review 2020

Empire builders, have you been wondering what benefits you could gain from joining our growing Ecommerce Empire Academy? Well, I sat down with one of our Ecommerce Empire Academy students and asked him for his candid opinion of the program: both an honest Peter Pru review to assess how my experience has helped his business strategies and an Ecommerce Empire Academy review to see how our overall program helped him drive growth. Check out everything he had to say in an honest Ecommerce Empire Builders review.

What Does a Real Ecommerce Empire Academy Student Have to Say?

I sat down with Ecommerce Empire Academy student, Favour Johnson, to get an honest Ecommerce Empire Academy review. Favour actually found out about our program when he stumbled across one of my Peter Pru — Ecommerce Empire Builders YouTube videos. Favour had been trying to make it on his own in the ecommerce industry, but unfortunately, he wasn’t having much luck. After seemingly getting nowhere with his efforts, Favour decided to take the plunge and become an official Ecommerce Empire Academy student.

Favour’s experience is one I see with many of our Academy students. The ecommerce industry and business, in general, is a cycle of peaks and valleys. What discourages most people from continuing their pursuits with ecommerce is their inability to stick with it through those ups and downs. Favour and many other students have been able to overcome these hurdles by becoming official Ecommerce Empire Builders. Our program and mentorship equip aspiring ecommerce entrepreneurs with the right mindset, tools, and skills to make it through the highs and lows of business.

How Can You Handle Highs and Lows in Your Business?

Favour’s number one piece of advice for other Ecommerce Empire Academy students and beginner ecommerce entrepreneurs is to, “Believe in the process and journey.” Favour shared with me that he struggled at the beginning of his ecommerce endeavors because he did not have faith in his abilities or the overall ecommerce process. When Favour adopted a new positive mindset and started acting the part, his ads began performing better, and his funnel started to generate more revenue.

Favour also noted that the Ecommerce Empire Academy helped him stop making emotionally-based decisions in his business. He used to go through a cycle of making ad sets and then killing them before he had a chance to collect data because he got too nervous and emotionally invested in the process. Making emotionally based decisions will almost always negatively impact your ecommerce endeavors. It’s easier said than done, but you have to separate your emotions from the business. Training yourself to make data-based decisions is your key to success in business.

What Is Favour’s Recipe for Success?

man thinking through processes for his ecommerce business

During this Ecommerce Empire Academy review, Favour let us in on what his recipe for success has been in the ecommerce industry. After becoming an Academy student, Favour ditched the Shopify platform and opted to utilize Clickfunnels instead.

Favour started selling one product and came to understand that you have to focus on presenting customers with a unique offer, not necessarily a unique product. Every Ecommerce Empire Academy student begins to learn that it’s all about presenting the customers with an irresistible offer in your funnel.

Mastering Facebook ads have been another key to Favour’s success in ecommerce. Favour’s strategy with his Facebook ads is to present quick, quality video ads to potential customers. He creates his ads to have a nice overlay photo on the video that grabs a prospective customer’s attention. Then he presents a quick video that highlights the product.

After creating these quality video ads, Favour advises beginners to simply let the ads run their course and collect the data. You have to give Facebook enough time to optimize the algorithms so your ads can reach the prime audience. If you get emotionally invested or nervous and pull the ad too soon, all your data goes out the window. Even worse, you don’t get to learn how to make your ads more efficient.

Create Rules So Data Drives Your Decisions

After Favour has a successful ad and collects enough data, he scales the ad to reach a bigger audience. Favour’s advice to beginners in the ad scaling process is to have a base foundation of rules for running ads. This can help you avoid shelling out more and more money on an ad that doesn’t yield results. This goes back to being data-driven rather than emotionally driven.

In Favour’s rules, if he doesn’t get an ad click at $3 invested, he pulls the ad. If he doesn’t get an add to cart at $10 invested, he pulls the ad. Finally, if he doesn’t get a purchase at $20 invested, he pulls the ad set.

This foundation of rules let Favour focus on the data rather than on his emotional ties to the ad set he has created. Understanding the ad process and running successful ad sets ultimately determines the success of all ecommerce entrepreneurs.

What Should All eCommerce Beginners Know?

woman smiling as she works in her home office

At the end of our interview, I asked Favour what his biggest piece of advice is for beginners breaking into the ecommerce industry. What Favour wants all aspiring ecommerce entrepreneurs to know is that “Mindset is key.” Favour had his own series of peaks and valleys he had to work through before he found success in ecommerce. However, joining the Ecommerce Empire Academy helped Favour to adopt the right mentality. It also equipped him with the tools needed to create a successful ecommerce business.

Favour continually speaks his own success into existence through positive affirmations and encourages everyone to do the same. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will either. The only thing that will keep you from success is yourself. You can’t give up on yourself or the process if you want to be successful.

I couldn’t agree more with Favour’s advice at the conclusion of his Ecommerce Empire Builders review. At the end of the day, you are the only one who is in control of your success.

Consult With the Pros

Sell These 7 Popular Products in Your Dropshipping Store Right Now

Empire builders, are you ready to capitalize on the endless opportunities awaiting you in the world of dropshipping? The ecommerce industry is booming right now. With people having to stay home and respect social distancing measures at the moment, the primary way to get goods has been online. Even as things return to normal, online shopping will continue to thrive. If you haven’t already, now is the time to enter the ecommerce industry and sell these popular products in your dropshipping store.

As you enter this industry, don’t fall into the traps that many first-time dropshippers do. A lot of people entering the industry try to reinvent the wheel. Don’t waste your time. The wheel has already been invented. All you need to do is research the existing industry and look for the products and niches that people already love

When you’re doing your research, make sure you’re looking for niches and products that you’re actually into. Being into your product makes business a lot more enjoyable. Your business should be fun and light, making you want to jump out of bed each morning and conquer the day. I used to sell products that I didn’t care about, but I found significant success within the industry when I started to sell products that I believed in and enjoyed myself. You can achieve this work style too.

If you want to enter the ecommerce industry, now is the time. Before you start, check out the top seven products that are selling in like hotcakes right now on Shopify.

Seven Winning Shopify Products

Browsing other stores and identifying consumer trends can help you prioritize popular products in your dropshipping store. Consider adding these seven:

1. Toy Storage Bags

Toy storage bags are a hot product to sell on Shopify right now. Kids are at home full time right now, as are most parents. Typically, kids are at school or daycare. With the current state of the world, parents have to deal with more messes at home. Toy storage bags provide a solution for distressed parents — a small solution, but a solution nonetheless.

If you’re already in the toy niche or sell to parents, this the product for you. It’s a simple product, but it’s also a useful product. It can be used as a great pairing or upsell offer for other toys or storage products that you sell. When you’re thinking of products to sell or niches to get into, you always want to think of how your product can help someone.

The bottom line is that products that provide solutions sell. When you take on the mentality of helping people or providing solutions for them, I promise you will see a lot more success in this industry.

2. Weighted Jump Ropes

The home fitness niche is thriving right now. With gyms closed and more people at home, people are working out from home far more than ever. Weighted jump ropes are one home fitness product that is moving in the Shopify world. This product has little weights inside the jump rope, making the exercise a bit more of a challenge.

Keep in mind, though, that your customers don’t actually care about the jump rope itself. What they care about are the results the weighted jump rope can give them. When selling fitness products, you’re not selling the product. You’re selling customers the results they want from the exercise.

Fitness products are great to pair with how-to information products. This sweetens the deal for your customer by giving them examples and knowledge on how to get the results they want from exercise. The most important thing to remember in this niche is that nobody wants a jump rope. They want the body that training can get them.

3. Yoga Mats

Another hot item in the fitness and health niche is yoga mats. One particular mat that is extremely popular right now is one that shows where to place your hands and feet. This is a great product, especially for beginners just looking to get into yoga, since the mat helps them get into the right positions.

Just like the weight jump ropes, this is a great item to pair with information products. If you want to sell customers a solution to their health and fitness goals, this is the product for you.

4. Paintbrushes and Tools

Home improvement projects are also thriving right now. People need tools to complete these projects they’ve meant to do. One house project that has been extremely popular these last few months is house painting. Paintbrushes and painting tools have been selling exceptionally well on Shopify. These products leave a lot of room for utilizing order bumps. You can also pair them with information products.

Remember, you’re selling people solutions. Your target customers are individuals looking to complete home improvement projects. The solution you are providing them is paintbrushes and paint tools that will make their work easier. You have to have a specific customer in mind when selling products. Do your research and know who you are selling to.

5. Hair Clippers

At-home haircuts are on the rise, and hair clippers are selling fast. More and more people are trying to learn to cut their hair from home, so this is an excellent niche to tap into right now.

However, keep in mind that if a customer gives themselves a botched haircut after buying your product, they will not be buying from you again. It’s not your fault, but keep in mind that this could be a potential repercussion. That’s also why you need to pair this product with information products like how-to guides.

6. Puzzles

father and daughter online shopping together

Puzzles are another hot product right now. They are providing people with an escape and some relaxation during this time. However, before you jump into the puzzle niche, you need to decide who you are selling to. There are puzzles from 4 pieces to 1000 pieces. You can’t just sell puzzles to everyone.

When you try to sell to everyone, you end up selling to no one.

There are tons of opportunities to tap into this niche once you decide who your target customer is. Puzzles are also an excellent subscription product to work with, too. You can have customers sign up to receive a monthly puzzle.

7. At-Home Spa Products

The final products to look into during this time are at-home spa products. A lot of people are just looking to relax right now. With at-home spa products, they can bring the spa into their living room. There are tons of pairing product opportunities within this niche, and these types of products are selling well right now.

How to Scale Your Dropshipping Business to $20,000/Month

When the excitement of opening your ecommerce store and selecting your first products begins to wear off, the real excitement begins. You are ready to scale your dropshipping business up with more sales and profits. You are ready for what we call ecommerce empire building.

Unfortunately, scale-up also is where a lot of us get stuck. The effective scale-up of sales and profits demands not only marketing strategies and sales techniques, but also adapting them to new technology and new online buyer habits. Let’s start by getting the big picture clear and our basic strategy solidly on track. Tactics do matter, of course, but tactics can’t save a flawed strategy.

The classic sales funnel (or buyer journey) is still the best framework for thinking through how to convert buyers at each step. That requires attracting initial contacts, informing them and gaining credibility with them, presenting your products, employing a pricing strategy, getting the shopping cart to the check-out, and working payments. Then, at the end, there’s another whole vista called “follow up.”

The “Moving Pieces” of a Sales Funnel

We want to focus here on a few of the moving pieces of the sales funnel that you may not be using optimally. At each step along the sales funnel, you might offer a one-time offer, or OTO. For each OTO, you will have a certain success rate, of course, and that is what we want to increase.

At the same time, however, our priority is not the number of sales. Our priorities are your average profit per sale and your customers’ lifetime value to your business.

Both priorities are addressed most profitably near the end of the sales funnel. Once the customer is in your online store and has been converted to making a purchase — or declining to make a purchase — some valuable strategies can come into play.

There is a cardinal rule here: If possible, you do not want to lose either a buyer or a non-buyer

You probably paid for that first customer contact. In many cases, in making that first contact, you will have obtained an email address and possibly other information. (We will talk in a moment about response automation by email.) But after your customers at OTO2 have either made a purchase or declined to purchase, they are still in the store and you have new and crucial information about them. Right here is a significant, immediate opportunity with non-buyers.  OTO3 should be a follow-up offer that is less expensive, less of a commitment, easier for the customer to accept. We call this “down selling.”

How to Convert a Non-Buyer

non-buyer debating whether to purchase another offer

For example, if you are selling an annual membership but a customer rejects this option, you can offer a one-month trial membership. If you make a sale, you have made a customer at OTO3. The trial memberships will have a cancellation rate after the month, of course, and the profit is far less than on the annual membership. Therefore, your crucial step is to follow and convert this new customer to higher-priced purchases.

At OTO3, which is a price offer, you once again see customers divide themselves into buyers and non-buyers. If their answer is “yes” (a purchase), the customer goes to your thank you page.

Email Automation Is Indispensable

Engage with your non-buyers, not just your buyers, to scale your dropshipping business from hundreds of dollars to tens of thousands.  For almost all stores that I see, this is a great missed opportunity. Again, you probably paid to get that customer to your store. So don’t just throw that money away — use the connection.

For easy and highly effective email automation, check out the Ecommerce Empire Builders website for a program called Active Campaign. It largely automates your email follow up to both buyers and non-buyers.

You want to reach out to non-buyers again and again

After all, you know that they are aware of your store, have some knowledge of your product, and considered a purchase. Timing, new products, new offers, and increasing knowledge and familiarity with you and your store all can factor into a purchase by that customer in the future. You will use automated email to approach these customers at intervals say of one hour after leaving your site, one day later, two days later, and beyond.

Customize Your Emails Based on Their Purchase Behaviors

email automation workflow for interacting with non-buyers

Your priorities, as mentioned above, are profit per sale and the lifetime value the customer brings to your business. Automated email works in part by segmenting your customers into categories to guide customized messages to them.

You will sell far more to your list of existing customers than to any list you probably can purchase. You usually can count on a buyer’s excitement with your product to be highest immediately after the purchase and in the days following. So that is the time to introduce related products, “step-up” offers, and bargains.

It should go without saying that when you are drafting the email messages to flesh out your active campaigns to buyers and non-buyers, differentiate the messages. Speak to segments of each group, and feature different intervals and offers.

Remember: you are writing directly to the customer, as an individual, in a friendly tone. Any other approach wastes the most important advantage of automated email responses: the connection.

The Sales Relationship Gets Longer

The real money in ecommerce is achieved by buyer evolution through successive points in the sales funnel. When you make that first sale, your customer has only completed the first leg of the buyer’s journey. Scale your dropshipping business by continuing the interaction. Your more expensive products are where the big profits are made, and these purchases rarely come from first-time, one-time buyers. The most profitable sales funnel represents your entire — sometimes your permanent — relationship with a customer.

How to Make Millions With Dropshipping Through Shopify and Clickfunnels in 2020

Empire builders, are you ready to take your dropshipping business to the seven-figure level in 2020? You can make millions with dropshipping. This may seem like a daunting task or maybe an unachievable goal, especially for those who are just getting started with ecommerce. But once you understand the systems and processes that go into creating a winning Shopify or Clickfunnels operation, anything is possible.

Learning these processes takes a great deal of time and effort. There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to the dropshipping industry. But I’m here to help cut your learning time in half. You don’t have to keep spinning your wheels, trying to figure out the secrets behind profitable dropshipping stores. Read on to learn more about the systems and processes I use to create seven-figure funnels consistently.

Lead Your Customers to Your Product

The three most essential elements of all dropshipping stores are ads, sale pages, and order forms. These are the three elements that you must perfect to create a profitable dropshipping business. Everything else is truly just icing on the cake. So, how do you perfect these three elements? Well, it all comes down to understanding your customers.

The bottom line is that customers need to be led. This is where many dropshippers simply get things wrong. Many dropshippers that use Shopify or WooCommerce have general storefronts or landing pages that simply have too much going on. There are too many options to choose from, and customers, especially new customers, feel overwhelmed.

As humans, we silently like to be led. It makes everything a bit easier. When creating your landing page, you want a select few products on the page. You also need to tell customers what each of these products can do for them. Think simplicity when it comes to your landing page. Ultimately, a confused mind never buys.

Drive Your Ad Traffic to the Right Location

Now don’t get me wrong, you do need a landing page or storefront. Landing pages are especially great for returning customers. However, they’re not so great for your new customers. These first-timers need a bit more guidance when they come to your store, and here’s why.

Every ecommerce store sees a drop off from the add to cart page to the end of the purchase process. However, the stores that take the time to learn their data systems and customer behaviors are the ones that minimize this drop off rate. When you analyze your data, you come to see that how you interact with new customers is vital to your success.

Most of you are already using ads if you’re in the industry, as you should be. However, most of you are not utilizing your ads correctly. A vast majority of dropshippers use ads to drive traffic to their storefront page when, in reality, they should be using their ads to drive traffic to a sales page.

1. What’s a Storefront Page?

Your storefront page or landing page is where you show off the products you have to offer. This is great for returning customers. They have already formed a relationship and a level of trust with your store. They know what your products are, what they can do for them, and which products they like best.

However, this is not an excellent space for first-time customers. When you use your ads to send traffic to your storefront, new customers are bombarded with many products. There is simply too many options and not enough direction. That is why in order to convert clicks to sales, you must use your ads to drive traffic to a sales page and not your storefront page.

2. What’s a Sales Page?

Creating great sales pages is how you convert new customers into loyal customers. A sales page only highlights one specific product. There are no distractions on this page. You’re giving customers one option to focus on and telling them what his specific product can do for them. On your sales page, you want to have elements like testimonials, reviews, and guarantees. These are new customers that know nothing about your business. You want them to feel as welcome and comfortable as possible. Creating this atmosphere on your sales page will ultimately lead to higher conversion rates for your business.

Optimize Your Order Form

After customers add products to their cart, they reach the order form. To minimize the drop off from cart to purchase, you have to optimize your order form layout. Simplicity is always key. The first step in optimizing your order form is to keep it to a single page. You don’t want customers to have to jump through hoops just to get your product in their hands. Make sure your order form asks for billing and shipping information all on a single page.

While keeping the order form simple, you also need to utilize simple ways to increase the customer cart revenue easily. This can be done by offering order bumps and quantity break discounts right on the order form.

Keep your order bump products complementary to the product they are buying. If they’re buying a toothbrush, offer toothpaste as a simple order bump.

With the quantity break discounts, offer a “buy two get 20% off” deal. You always need to be looking for simple ways to add revenue to a single customer’s order. You will reap many benefits when you can perfect this technique.

Perfect the Funnel

new dropshipper trying to perfect her sales funnel

Ultimately, to create a seven-figure ecommerce business, you must perfect the funnel. In the Shopify world, the funnel is simply too long. This creates friction. With Clickfunnels, the funnel is much tighter.

A tighter funnel converts to more sales for your business.

The hardest aspect to overcome in dropshipping is that first sale. You want those first sales to be as frictionless as possible, by getting customers to purchase in as little as three clicks. That is why you must direct your ad traffic to simple sales pages that lead them to optimized order forms. This is the recipe for success when it comes to perfecting the funnel. Once you get your first sale, you can reach hundreds of dollars in sales in the first few days and keep building your momentum.

Keep in mind, creating the perfect funnel won’t happen overnight. You will have to put the time and effort into conducting market research and analyzing your existing data to create a funnel that converts at the highest rate.

As a closing piece of advice, always look to maximize the total revenue a first-time customer spends with your business. This is best maximized through:

  • Opt-Ins
  • Order Bumps
  • Quantity Breaks
  • Upsell Offers

Remember, research and diligence are what separates the seven-figure stores from the rest.

How to Start Dropshipping With $0

Empire builders, are you ready to transform your life through the power of dropshipping? Anyone can become a dropshipper, but only the ones ready and willing to put in the work will prove to be successful in the end. You’re ready to start your new business today, but can you start a profitable dropshipping business with $0? Read on to learn how you can create your own successful ecommerce business through the most low-cost measures possible.

Is It Possible to Create a Dropshipping Business With a $0 Budget?

Is it really possible to start dropshipping with $0? The simple answer is yes. It is feasible to start a brand-new dropshipping business with no money. However, your success depends on a number of factors. One of these factors is your previous experience. If you already have experience in business, marketing, or the dropshipping industry, then creating a profitable ecommerce business from nothing is a much more doable feat.

However, it’s not logical to believe that you will draw riches from thin air.

While some individuals are able to build profitable dropshipping businesses without investing any money, I recommend having an investment budget of $250 to start your dropshipping business. If you’re doing something you’ve never done, then you’re going to have to put a bit of risk into it. For starting a new dropshipping business, this risk is given through your time and money.

There is some risk to dropshipping. However, if you want to start your own business, dropshipping is one of the lowest cost and lowest risk endeavors to get started with.

I have seen so many people invest their life savings into business inventory that they are never able to sell. This is common with Amazon sellers. They invest in a large amount of inventory at the start of their business, and then can’t sell it. They end up having to sit on all their unsold inventory, and their investment wastes away.

That’s the great thing about dropshipping. It requires a low startup cost, and there is no inventory to deal with. Overall, I have found that the sweet spot for investing in a new dropshipping business falls between the $0 to $250 range. If you’re willing to invest a little cash, you will find success within the industry — especially if you follow the tips I’m about to share.

What Do You Need?

man setting up the website for his dropshipping business

So, what do you need to start your brand-new dropshipping business with $0 or $250? Many people try to over complicate the process. But when it comes down to it, dropshipping is a very straight forward process, especially if you choose the right niche. There are only two things you need to create a profitable ecommerce business. The first is a website, and the second is traffic.

1. Your Dropshipping Website

Creating an ecommerce business will require you to have a website. You can purchase a domain and email bundle for about $7 a month. Remember, your domain name doesn’t actually matter. I have seen individuals pay hundreds on a specific domain name. Don’t be one of these people. Your domain name has nothing to do with how profitable your dropshipping business will be. Always choose the cheaper domain and email bundle option.

Along with purchasing a domain and email bundle, you have to choose a platform to sell on. It doesn’t matter if it’s Shopify, WooCommerce, or Clickfunnels, you need to have a website and platform to sell products from.

Choose Clickfunnels As Your Platform

That being said, all my successful dropshipping endeavors have been created through Clickfunnels. I’m not affiliated with Clickfunnels in any way, but this software has changed my life, and I want you to experience the same type of success.

I have had tremendous success with Clickfunnels, and I believe it’s the best platform to use for your dropshipping business. Clickfunnels gives you a 14-day free trial. During my free trial, I took a new funnel from $0 to $1000 a day in the first three days. After the free trial, a Clickfunnels account costs $97 a month. However, as my sales show, a Clickfunnels membership can more than pay for itself. Ultimately, your Clickfunnels membership will be the most expensive investment to get your store up and running. However, keep in mind that the cost is worth every penny.

Clickfunnels vs. Shopify

The Clickfunnels platform allows you to do so much more than Shopify or WooCommerce does. On Shopify, you can kind of piece things together with your store like you can on Clickfunnels, but it’s going to cost you $500 to $600 just in apps to keep your Shopify store running smoothly.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the Shopify business model. But Shopify does not generate the most profits for dropshippers. Shopify makes tons of money off apps alone, as stores have to purchase at least 10 to 15 apps to get their businesses up and running. Shopify overcomplicates the process, especially for newbies.

5 Key Clickfunnels Features

With Clickfunnels, you have access to all the features you need for a winning business. Plus, you don’t have to pay for each individual feature like you do on the Shopify platform.

With a Clickfunnels membership, you automatically get access to the five most important features every profitable dropshipping store has. These features are:

  1. Opt-In Pages
  2. Order Forms
  3. One Time Offers (OTOs)
  4. One-Click Subscriptions
  5. Automated Emails

Opt-in pages give you access to email addresses from the start. OTOs provide you the option of creating one-click upsells. Shopify charges for this feature and takes a portion of the money you make. With Clickfunnels, this is just a built-in option that comes with every membership.

With Clickfunnels, you get access to all the necessary features right out of the gate. Ultimately, you can make three to four times more money through a funnel than through a Shopify store. As a marketer, that’s all that really matters.

2. Traffic Generation

roadmap of an effective traffic generation strategy

After creating your website, the next step in your dropshipping endeavor is driving traffic to your store. Building the store was the easy part. Marketing is where the real challenges come into play. After your business is built, advertising is where the majority of your money will go. Advertising is expensive, but it’s an essential investment. Advertising is how you get your product into the hands of customers.

Now there is a difference between advertising and profitable advertising. There is a great deal of research that goes into profitable advertising. Not many people are willing to put in the work it takes to research and understand how the marketing platform works.

Research is hard. It takes time and effort.

When it comes down to it, there is no magic pill.

If you want to make money, you have to put time and effort into your marketing strategy. The willingness to research is what separates profitable dropshippers from everyone else in the industry. Building your funnel was the easy part. Driving traffic will prove to be the most challenging.

Your Business in a Box

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we have a program called Business in a Box. In this program, we build you your very own dropshipping store. We create your business from start to finish. However, if you’re looking to create your dropshipping store from scratch, I’m about to drop some serious knowledge bombs for you.

Check out the steps we follow at Ecommerce Empire Builders to create profitable dropshipping stores in record time.

Step 1: Figure Out Your Niche

screen grab of suggestion that businesses find a hobby or passion niche

The first step is to figure out your dropshipping niche. You have to have a niche that you — or shoppers — care about. Remember, you don’t have to be personally passionate about this particular niche, but it helps if a large chunk of the population is. People spend money on their passions. With people spending more time at home these days, they are pouring more money into their passions.

If you’re not sure where to start, hop on over to Wikipedia. Search the word hobby on Wikipedia, and the site will provide a list of hundreds of hobbies that people are into. This is the market research you need to do upfront before you start your Ecommerce store.

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we do a ridiculous amount of market research before even thinking about creating a new dropshipping funnel or store. Make sure to do thorough market research on the physical products you want to sell in your niche. Also, keep in mind that your business will be more enjoyable in the long run if you choose a niche that you find personal enjoyment from as well.

If you want to dive into product research, follow our guide (and learn about seven profitable market areas) here.

Step 2: Figure Out Your Offers

screen grab of our front-end offers strategy

The next step is to figure out your offers. This is the most important piece of the pie when it comes to creating your new dropshipping store. A common mistake among new dropshippers is that they hurry to build their new funnel or website — without doing market research and figuring out how to set up prime offers.

Building your website is not essential right away; you must research and create a marketing strategy before anything else. What you need to understand about offers when getting started with dropshipping is that there are multiple types of offers inside a business that you must utilize to make your store profitable from day one.

Front-end offers are what your dropshipping business is centered around.

The front-end offers are the products you are running ads on, whether they are Facebook ads or YouTube ads. This is where you run the “50% off” ads or “buy two, get one free” type of ads. You want your ads to be enticing to your potential customers. These ads are the first interaction you have with customers, so you have to get your marketing strategy right.

You must over-deliver to your customer and create an experience for them that has them returning to your store again and again. At Ecommerce Empire Builders, our strategy for profitable front-end offers is to pair a physical product with a couple of digital or information products.

Outperform Your Competition

Why do we do this?

The simple answer is that it sets us apart from our competition. You never want to compete on price. When you do this, it’s just a race to the bottom. What you want to do is compete on customer experience. This is where digital or information products come into play.

Digital and information products are where you can beat your competition every time. Take this as an example:

You are selling fishing lures. This is your physical product. To set yourself apart from your competitors who are also selling fishing lures, you pair this product with a digital quick start guide on using fishing lures, as well as a digital guide on how to use different fishing lures depending on the weather.

This is the winning formula that sets you apart in a space that already has so much noise. Your first sale is always the hardest. But you build momentum by creating a unique front-end offer keeps customers coming back for more. Most dropshippers end up failing because they only focus on selling a single product — the physical product.

Step 3: Utilize Order Bumps

Once you create a winning front-end offer, you need to utilize order bumps on your dropshipping store. Using order bumps is an easy way to increase the average amount of money a customer spends with you.

Simple order bumps are offers like expedited shipping, limited edition products, product warranty, or gift cards. You never need to overcomplicate the process. If you’re selling toothbrushes, then a simple order bump would be to offer customers the chance to pair it with toothpaste.

Simple strategies like order bumps set your business apart from the competitors.

Step 4: Create Two Upsell Options

After creating order bump options, the next step is to create two upsell options.

This simply means that you either present the customers with offers of more of the same product or an offer to a premium product. You want to keep offering customers a better and better deal. You want to create an enticing offer that a customer simply cannot pass up.

Step 5: Implement Subscription Services

screen grab of business dashboard highlighting growth in sales

The final step in creating your dropshipping business is to implement a subscription service. Creating an enticing subscription service for customers generates monthly income for yourself.

This is the hardest sell, but by over-delivering to customers early, you gain their loyalty. Customers that have a pleasant experience with your dropshipping site will be more likely to buy a monthly subscription to receive more of your products.

Top 7 At-Home Niches with Profitable Dropshipping Products

As empire builders, you already know the potential that lies within dropshipping. As more people are at home now than ever, home-related niches are exploding in sales right now. Now is the time to capitalize on these types of sales, and we can give you the tools and strategies to make it happen. However, you must do your market research before jumping into any one niche. In marketing and sales, nothing will ever trump research. Start by taking a deeper look at mass markets, niches, and these seven dropshipping areas. Read this quick breakdown and watch our video for an in-depth look at how to explore niches.

Mass Markets and Niches

screen grab of video discussing mass markets and niches for dropshipping products

The first thing you need to understand in dropshipping is that there are both mass markets and niches. Mass markets encompass all of the niches in the market. Every mass market has a ton of niches to tap into. Niches are where your opportunities as a dropshipper lie. For example, fishing is a mass market. There are a ton of niches within the mass market of fishing, including rods, poles, line, lures, magnets, boxes, bait, bobbers… and the list goes on. You need to tap into these niches when researching what products to sell in your dropshipping business.

Market Research

To be successful in dropshipping, you need to put a great deal of effort into market research. Google is the place to start all of your market research. My favorite keyword to use when researching new dropshipping products is the word “hobby.”

If you type “home hobbies” into Google, a ton of suggestions will automatically pop up. These automatic searches are important to note, as they provide insight into what potential customers are already searching for. This Google search process is just to gather information.

You want to be on the lookout for products that are:

  • Physical
  • Not brand specific
  • Sellable within a specific niche

It’s important to remember that a good portion of your time in the eCommerce and dropshipping industry will be spent gathering information and conducting market research. You can’t skip this process if you want to find success within the eCommerce industry.

Validate Your Market Research

Screen grab of well-written product overviews

Once you conduct some market research on potential dropshipping products, it’s time to validate your findings. To validate your market research, head on over to Amazon today. Search for the products you’re thinking about buying on Amazon. You will be able to discover if these products are selling well and what their selling rank is on the site.

If your potential dropshipping products are performing well on Amazon, then go to Ali Express to check the products’ price and selling rank.

Remember: competition is good in the market place. You want your potential products to be performing well. This means there is a tremendous amount of opportunity to tap into this specific product and niche.

Once you find a product that is performing well, all you have to do is get the product cheaper. Then put some information products together to make your offer more enticing compared to your competitions’ listings.

7 Mass Markets and Niches to Tap Into

researching niche-specific dropshipping products and prices on AliExpress

There are many mass markets and niches to tap into as a dropshipper. I always suggest that you get into a niche that you like, as it will make your work more enjoyable.

However, never get into a niche that is not already profitable. Market research is your best friend in the eCommerce industry, and your business will never be successful if you don’t properly research your products and the overall market.

Here are the top seven mass-market ideas to research during this time to find the right niche for your dropshipping business.

1. Home

Home is a huge mass-market industry in the eCommerce industry. There are tons of niches and opportunities to tap into in this specific niche. Think:

  • Cleaning
  • Organizing
  • Games
  • Home improvement
  • Lighting

The possibilities are endless in the home market industry. Start your research, find well-performing dropshipping products in the home goods industry, and you should be well on your way to a seven-figure dropshipping business.

2. Hobbies

Hobbies are another huge mass-market industry with endless opportunities in the eCommerce world. An excellent place to research hobbies and potential niches is on Wikipedia. Wikipedia breaks down all the major hobbies from inside hobbies to outside hobbies and more. This will give you a good starting point when looking for a good hobby niche and best-selling dropshipping products.

3. Writing

Writing is another good industry for dropshippers to look into. There are a lot of niche products within the writing market. From pencil grips to typewriters to premium pens, there is a variety of products to make a profit on in the writing industry.

4. Garage

The garage is another very profitable area with a lot of opportunities for dropshippers to tap into. Garage lights, for example, are a great niche product to center a dropshipping business around. Think about who you are selling to, like car enthusiasts who love to spend their free time out in the garage tinkering with cars and tools.

Thinking about what type of person you’re selling to and what products they would be likely to buy is an essential element in your market research.

5. Health

Health is another mass-market industry that has an endless supply of niches. Think:

  • Free weights
  • Yoga mats
  • General fitness equipment

People are working out from home now more than ever before. This is a great niche market to tap into right now.

6. Kids

Parents are always looking for ideas to keep their kids learning and entertained. Kids are a huge mass-market industry with a variety of great niches to capitalize on. Think toys, learning tools, sports equipment, baby supplies, and more. There are so many routes you could go down within this industry.

7. Garden

A final promising industry to look into is gardening. There are tons of niches within gardening and a variety of great products to sell. Put in the time and do your research on what tools and supplies are hot right now in the gardening market. Remember, market research will always be your key to success.
