How Much Money Dropshippers Can Make in One Month

If you’re new to dropshipping and want to find out how much money dropshippers can make within just one month, here we’ll look at one of our private clients and their results after a 30-day period. Their performance in their first month can give you an idea of how much you can actually earn in that amount of time as a newcomer.

This particular client managed to make $2,500 in their first month, and we’ll review what they did right to get them there, along with what they did wrong. You can then implement what works in your own strategy to potentially see even more monthly earnings.

Many people just starting out with dropshipping come across people claiming to make tens of thousands or even millions on a monthly basis. But it’s important to stay realistic. In reviewing this specific client, we’ll go into detail about how much money dropshippers can make at the start.

How Much Money Dropshippers Can Make: Our Client’s First Month and the Stats Behind It

Before getting into our client’s stats and exploring their strategy, we can’t stress enough the importance of setting specific goals for your dropshipping business. Consider whether you want to get into dropshipping full-time, or if it’s strictly going to be a side hustle for the purpose of earning passive income

Either strategy can work, but it’s crucial to decide which to pursue at the beginning before you start building your business. Approaching dropshipping as a side project can help you make some extra money. But turning it into a full-time effort will take a lot of work (albeit rewarding work).

With that in mind, let’s review what our client did to succeed in one of their early months.

Looking at the stats for our client over the course of May, they made just shy of $2,500 using a two-step dropshipping sales funnel. This amount is pretty good for dropshippers who are new to this industry. As we take these earnings into account, there are certain stats to pay attention to. They include:

Opt-In Rate

The first stat to look at is the opt-in rate, which is critical. This client had a 53.17% opt-in rate throughout May, totaling 746 email addresses collected. This is an impressive number, as we believe that dropshippers should be making around a dollar per email.

By continually marketing to these leads, dropshippers can maximize each lead’s customer lifetime value (CLV) as they come back for both initial and repeat purchases. You’re essentially throwing away free money if you’re not sending emails to leads on your lists.

Dropshippers often make the mistake of thinking that ad campaigns will be the main breadwinners, but this simply isn’t the case. There’s a lot of competition on social media and other platforms, including advertisers with thousands to spend on campaigns. So you aren’t likely to see a lot of money from ads alone when initially launching your business.

This is why a high opt-in rate and consistent email marketing are both so integral to your success as a dropshipper.

Sales

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing how to succeed with upsells

Our client saw an 8.98% conversion rate in May for their base products, which translates to 126 sales valued at $1,754.53. Again, this is ideal, as your conversion rate should be at around the 7-10% range from month to month. Additionally, one of this client’s upsells saw a 14.67% conversion rate, with 11 sales totaling $164.67.

This is also a perfect percentage, considering most upsell conversion rates for similar products should stay in the 10-15% range. On the other hand, upsells for more premium, complementary products may be in the 8-10% range due to the fact that they’re new.

A general rule of thumb regarding upsells is to sell customers more of the same product they just bought. If this strategy doesn’t work, you can simply visit Amazon; look for related products that people purchase together with your base product. In short, keep your upsells simple, and you’ll likely see ideal conversion rates from them.

In addition to this client’s base conversion rate and that of their first upsell, the client included three other upsells. Their second upsell saw a conversion rate of 17.98%, earning them $239.52 more. Their third and fourth saw conversion rates of 15.66% and 7.89%, respectively.

Altogether, our client’s sales totaled $2,490.15 for the month of May.

The Importance of Subscriptions in Evaluating How Much Money Dropshippers Can Make

New dropshipper considering how much money dropshippers can make

It’s worth noting that the fourth upsell was a subscription. The client gained six subscribers, which means six sources of regular monthly revenue. Some people may cancel their subscriptions. But many won’t. These purchases are invaluable for earning free and consistent revenue, as well as more sales.

Consider how many brands have succeeded with subscriptions, from Netflix to Dollar Shave Club. If you’re not offering a subscription of some kind, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity.

When offering a subscription, there are a couple of ways you can approach it. First, there are full-priced subscriptions like the one our client offered, or you can do a downsell such as a discounted trial subscription.

Stay Realistic and Use the Strategies That Work

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing a client business's May revenue

Ultimately, we were impressed with our client’s progress during this one-month period. They were able to generate a solid number of sales for their base products, along with upsells and subscriptions.

They also saw a high opt-in rate of almost 1,000 new emails. This can bring in thousands of dollars through consistent email marketing efforts. If you can keep in touch with email leads and optimize sales through upsells and subscriptions, you’ll be able to get the results you want. In turn, you can meet your goals as you grow your dropshipping business and maximize revenue.

Turn Your New Dropshipping Business Into a Six-Figure Ecommerce Brand

Empire builders, how would you like to transform your dropshipping business into a six-figure dropshipping brand? Sounds great, right? While this might seem like an unattainable dream to some, others are ready to buckle down and put in the work to turn their dreams into reality. One of our long-time Inner Circle students is the perfect example of turning dreams into reality. Javier has been involved in the Ecommerce Empire Builders community for several years and was able to take his beginner dropshipping business and turn it into a success.

I recently sat down with Javier to discuss how he went from a beginner in dropshipping to creating his own profitable brand. Read on to learn more about Javier’s six-figure ecommerce brand and how you too can create a profitable ecommerce business in 2021.

Getting Started With eCommerce

Today, Javier owns a six-figure ecommerce brand known as Finisher Secrets. The brand specializes in producing high-quality planners for entrepreneurs. I love Javier’s product, and I’m not just saying that because he’s one of my students. The Finisher’s Journal is a planner I use myself. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get on top of their scheduling and productivity. With over 250,000 followers on Instagram, I think it’s safe to say that more than a few people would also recommend the Finisher Secrets brand.

Javier has found a great deal of success with e-commerce. But he had to overcome many obstacles on his path to success. Before owning a six-figure ecommerce brand, Javier was just a guy learning the ends and outs of dropshipping. Like many individuals, Javier started with the Amazon FBA program. Javier soon realized this program would not yield him the results he wanted when he was simply competing against other sellers on price.

He wanted to do something different, so he started reading business books. Through his self-education, he began reading about sales funnels and soon signed up for a Clickfunnels account. While he liked Clickfunnels, he wasn’t making much progress on his business. However, everything began to change for the better when Javier stumbled upon an Ecommerce Empire Builders case study video on YouTube.

Finding Success Through Ecommerce Empire Builders

Screen grab of Peter Pru and Javier discussing dropshipping

After watching some YouTube videos on the Ecommerce Empire Builders channel, Javier decided to take the leap and become an Inner Circle student. Javier is a very ambitious individual, and my team and I helped him channel this ambition in the right direction. Every Ecommerce Empire student learns the importance of picking a niche and finding a product within that niche that solves a problem for consumers. Javier himself struggled with productivity and planning as he was trying to juggle his new business while moving to the United States. He came up with the idea to start selling journals that helped entrepreneurs overcome procrastination and distractions.

The Finisher’s Journal that Javier came up with and designed himself was definitely a passion project. Luckily, Javier’s passion project also appealed to the masses. After Javier started obtaining sales from dropshipping journals and planners, he began talking to different suppliers about branding his own journals. Once he completed negotiations with his suppliers, Javier went to work designing the perfect planner with amazing packaging and the highest quality paper he could get.

Through it all, Javier has been very receptive to feedback from me and the Ecommerce Empire team. Any suggestion we have made, Javier has listened and executed on it. Javier’s own fortitude, combined with the guidance of the Ecommerce Empire Builders team, has allowed him to create a thriving six-figure business over the course of just a few short years.

Tips to Grow a Six-Figure eCommerce Brand

Screen grab of Peter Pru and Javier discussing dropshipping tips for new dropshippers

The first step to growing a six-figure ecommerce brand is simply to get started. When Javier first got started in ecommerce, he had many more questions than he had answers. While Javier has been able to obtain success in ecommerce, this success was not achieved overnight. Throughout his ecommerce journey, Javier discovered some tricks of the trade.

When I sat down with Javier, I asked him what his advice would be to other aspiring ecommerce entrepreneurs. The two most significant pieces of advice Javier gave were to

  1. Choose a niche you are passionate about.
  2. Be consistent in your approach with your business.

I love these answers and couldn’t agree more with Javier’s tips.

Entrepreneurship comes with many ups and downs. As Javier pointed out, passion will keep you going in the tough times. There will be times you are overwhelmed, depressed, or just down about how business operations are going. Being passionate about your business and the products you are selling will keep you on the right path during tough times. Along with being passionate, you must be consistent as you grow your business. You need to be willing to show up every day and put the work in. Growing a six-figure business won’t happen overnight.

However, if you remain consistent and show up every day, great progress will be achieved. Javier remained consistent with growing his brand on Instagram. He posted consistently and worked with influencers to promote his journals. As a result of his consistency, he has over 250,000 Instagram followers. This just goes to show that with passion and consistency, great things can be achieved.

I hope Javier’s story has shown you that growing a successful six-figure ecommerce brand is possible. Business in a Box Success Story: $10k in 12 Days

Empire builders, you already know that building a successful ecommerce business is a journey full of many peaks and valleys. It can be easy to get discouraged along this road. However, success can be achieved with the right mindset and work ethic. I recently sat down with cousins and business partners Lindsay and Justin, who used our Business in a Box service. These two have put in the work and have been able to hit the $10k club in just 12 days. If you’re in need of some ecommerce motivation, read on to learn how Lindsay and Justin have overcome roadblocks on their road to success.

Finding Success With Business in a Box

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we offer a service known as  Business in a Box. This is a service where our team builds and launches an entire business for you. While we set everything up for you, the Business in a Box program does not come without some work on your part, too. Lindsay and Justin, two of our newest members, have put in the work ten-fold and are reaping the benefits. The two cousins both have a passion for photography and have built their business around the photography niche. Their passion, combined with the right business mindset and work ethic, has allowed them to hit $10k in sales in just 12 days!

Hitting $10k in sales is certainly impressive for a young ecommerce business. What makes it even more impressive is that Lindsay and Justin have both maintained their full-time jobs during this process. Lindsay works as a lawyer but has always had an entrepreneurial vision. As a child, she even tried to sell sticks as firewood in her front yard. However, the demands of law school and full-time work put her business dreams on the back burner. Justin has also always had an entrepreneurial mindset. He even has his own brick-and-mortar retail business in South Africa.

The two cousins were financially secure when COVID-19 hit. But it made them question how secure they would be long-term. During their downtime at the beginning of the pandemic, they began researching ecommerce. That’s when Justin stumbled across Ecommerce Empire Builders on YouTube. After watching our videos, the cousins got right to work on building their own ecommerce empire.

Overcoming Countless Roadblocks

Screen grab of Peter Pru, Lindsay, and Justin discussing roadblocks

While Lindsay and Justin have found success in ecommerce, this success did not come without a few roadblocks along the way. Of course, with this as their first ecommerce venture, they had to overcome some steep learning curves the cousins. Lindsay credits the guidance of the team at Ecommerce Empire Builders with helping them overcome these hurdles. Working with the team at Ecommerce Empire Builders allowed Lindsay and Justin a place to seek guidance and maintain realistic expectations along their journey. The cousins knew how important it was to discuss problems with mentors without an emotional investment in their business. Having outside perspective and guidance is what encouraged Lindsay and Justin to keep going.

In their first 60 days, Lindsay and Justin had to deal with setting up their business, worrying about logistics, being blocked by Facebook and Stripe, and sorting out a mess with their business bank account. It would have been easy to throw in the towel. But the pair kept their cool and found a way to endure. It’s a good thing they stuck with it, too. Today, they have a thriving ecommerce photography business and are looking to expand even further.

Hitting the $50k Club

Screen grab of Peter Pru, Lindsay, and Justin discussing Business in a Box and how to start dropshipping

While hitting the $10k through our Business in a Box service was a milestone, Lindsay and Justin already have their sights set further. The cousins are hoping to hit the $50k club within the next few months. These are lofty goals. But the pair has already shown that they are willing and ready to put in the work to grow their ecommerce venture.

The cousins discussed that learning their roles in the business has helped them in their growth. Justin has taken on more of a logistic role. He sets up their Shopify website and comes up with offers and upsells. Lindsay has taken on more of a creative role; she does market research and pinpoints who their ideal customers are. The two have also begun to outsource, hiring another cousin as a VA to help with order fulfillment. With the help of Ecommerce Empire Builders, we believe that their teamwork and vision will take them far.

As for other aspiring ecommerce entrepreneurs, Lindsay and Justin advise others to keep a positive mindset, have a good work ethic, and find mentors like those at Ecommerce Empire Builders. The pair believe that having mentors to bounce their ideas, questions, and concerns off of has played a massive role in their success. Mentality and work ethic have also played a significant role in hitting the $10k club.

Lindsay and Justin’s thought process is that if others are achieving success in ecommerce, there’s no reason that they can’t. Lindsay and Justin believe that as long as they keep showing up and putting the hard work in, there’s no way they can fail in the long run. This is a great mindset to keep, and I look forward to seeing what these two can achieve.

Turn Any Dropshipping Shopify Store Into a Money Making Machine

Empire builders, have you been struggling to generate consistent profits through your ecommerce endeavors? If you have, this article is for you. Today, I will take you through the process of turning your struggling dropshipping Shopify store into a money-making machine. I asked on our Instagram page for followers to submit their Shopify stores for me to review. I got a ton of responses and chose to review the store whose name grabbed my attention.

Through my review of this store, you will learn what this ecommerce business is doing right, what they’re doing wrong, and how you can integrate their most useful elements into your ecommerce business today. Read on to learn how to transform your Shopify store into a money-making machine.

The Yoga Alien Review

The ecommerce store I choose to review is yogaalien.co. Right out of the gate, the domain name this ecommerce business chose is fantastic. It’s a name that grabs your attention and makes you do a double-take. However, I don’t like that the store chose a .co domain. My advice will always be to go with a .com domain. Even if it means picking a different domain name, always go with the .com as it provides more credibility to your ecommerce business.

Every Dropshipping Shopify Store Needs a Clear Niche

Another element that the Yoga Alien got right is having a niche. They sell yoga products. Yoga is their niche. In ecommerce and dropshipping ventures, it’s important to niche down and sell in a specific category or sell a specific product. Having a niche is the best way to sell to a direct group of people and to create a strong brand relationship with your customers. Before you start your ecommerce store, determine what your niche will be.

Areas for Improvement in This Dropshipping Shopify Store

Screengrab of Peter Pru analyzing YogaAlien's web copy

While I love the company name and that they have a clear niche, there are quite a few elements that I would change on Yoga Alien’s storefront. Every successful ecommerce store is supported by great copy, images, and amazing offers. Yoga Alien’s dropshipping Shopify store could use a revamp on some of these elements. The copy the Yoga Alien uses does not give the customer enough of a reason to invest in the brand or products of Yoga Alien. Remember, the copy on your store has to provide your customers value and assure them that your product or service will solve some sort of problem that they are facing. For a yoga store, the copy should play toward transforming a customer’s life through health, fitness, and mindfulness practices.

On the Yoga Alien storefront, I would also love to see more highlights of customers using the products, customer reviews, and better offers. If you want to generate more sales, make sure your store has high-quality images of your product being used, multiple customer reviews with photos, and an amazing offer that customers simply can’t get elsewhere.

Credibility Is Key — Make It the Foundation of Your Dropshipping Shopify Store

Screengrab of Peter Pru discussing the importance of digital products for niche products

Now that we’ve learned what the Yoga Alien store did right and what they could work on, what does this mean for your ecommerce business? Well, the most important element to keep in mind when turning your Shopify store into a money-making machine is credibility. When it comes to creating successful dropshipping businesses, credibility is key. Build your store’s credibility through these six elements:

1. Domain Name

First, always go with the .com domain as it instantly provides more credibility for your business. Your domain name should make sense, but it should also grab your customers’ attention. Yoga Alien is a domain name that makes customers do a double-take, but it also makes sense for the business because they sell yoga products.

2. Niche

A niche store will always garner more credibility compared to a general store. Always chose a niche category or product when creating your ecommerce business. A niche portrays your business as a specialized leader in a specific category.

3. Purposeful Copy

While this is often an overlooked element, your copy matters when creating a profitable ecommerce store. While the copy should be catchy and draw customers in, it should also be purposeful and add value for the customer.

4. Customer Support and Interactions

A profitable ecommerce store also relies on customer support. Reach out to your customer to have them send in their honest reviews of your product. Also, be willing to provide an incentive for your customers to send in their own photos and testimonials using your product. Customer support goes a long way in establishing credibility for your store.

5. High-Quality Images

Credibility also comes from having high-quality images on your store. Your store simply won’t be taken seriously without high-quality background images and high-quality images of your products.

6. Amazing Offers

The final aspect of creating a credible store is your offer. Every ecommerce business is not only competing against Amazon but also against each other. When going up against Amazon or other dropshippers, you can’t just compete on price. This is not a strategy with longevity. You need to create offers and bundles that customers can’t get elsewhere. A great way to separate yourself from the competition is through information products. Remember, you’re not just selling a product. You’re selling a solution. So you have to separate yourself from the rest of the pack.

The 4 Pillars of Ecommerce

Ecommerce business owner working on his Shopify site

Through consistency and execution, you will be able to build your store’s credibility and create a money-making ecommerce store. If you’re feeling stuck, just remember the four pillars of ecommerce:

  1. Find Your Niche
  2. Create a Compelling Offer
  3. Build Out Your Funnel
  4. Drive Traffic to the Funnel

How My Online Ecommerce Course Student Hit $50K per Month

Seeing our students prosper in the ecommerce industry never gets old. Steve Swiat is the latest example of a student who achieved financial success by continually improving his income-producing skills and learning from our online ecommerce course. Over five years, Steve went from dabbling in ecommerce to earning an Empire Builder Award. From his early days of selling magnetic knife holders to his adoption of sales funnels, Steve saw his dropshipping revenue grow from zero to $50,000 per month.

A Taste of the Wild West

Steve began dabbling in ecommerce in 2014 when he got his start as a Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) seller. The early days of FBA were much like the Wild West of ecommerce. Like many new FBA sellers, Steve faced a vicious cycle of selling products at a reduced rate to earn reviews and trying to boost his status with Amazon. Taking a loss was not uncommon, as he ended up giving away a sizable amount of product in the process.

A New Direction With the Online Ecommerce Course from Ecommerce Empire Builders

screenshot of Pete and Steve talking about ecommerce

Undaunted by his minor losses with FBA, Steve was ready to leave lackluster results behind and improve his income-generating skills. He switched gears and got serious about boosting his revenue in 2018. His first step on his new journey was listening to our podcasts. Then, he enrolled in our online ecommerce course to learn exactly what steps he needed to take to jumpstart his earnings. As Steve put his newly developed skills to work, his income began to rise.

A Pivotal Moment

Hitting the $10,000 per month mark was a pivotal moment for Steve. But along with that milestone came another critical realization: Steve had gained the ability to recognize problems quickly, diagnose them, and resolve them before they took hold and hurt his business.

For Steve, the process of resolving issues typically begins with a look at the lowest hanging fruit. He notes that sometimes addressing the smallest things can have a huge impact on results. Little tweaks, such as inserting the words “Free Shipping,” can make a huge difference in your conversions. Making sure your funnels are succinct is also important, as many of the highest converting funnels say a lot with only a few words.

If minor adjustments don’t alleviate the problem, then Steve suggests reviewing your funnel. See if there’s something in your copy that is confusing to the prospect. Funnels give you a powerful opportunity to use a lot of text. But it’s up to you to make sure they aren’t too wordy or confusing. More importantly, you have to create your copy with care to ensure that your ad, the copy, and your order form are all congruent, which are skills we emphasize in our online ecommerce course.

The Importance of a Changed Mindset

dropshipper working on her business early in the morning after exercising

Steve attributes his jump in income and his troubleshooting abilities to his commitment to changing his mindset and routine. Among other changes in his life, he also began making use of the extra time he had on the weekends. By devoting five or six hours on Saturday and Sunday to improving his funnels, Steve’s business really began to take off. Here are some other specific steps he takes to keep himself focused each day:

  • Start early by getting up at 5:30 every day.
  • Kick off the day with a healthy activity such as exercise.
  • After launching your day with two “wins” (waking up early and exercising), start with a manageable task.

Steve shares another confidence-inspiring tip: try putting yourself in an uncomfortable spot each day. For example, Steve would periodically go for a walk in the hot Arizona sun at 4:00 in the afternoon. When you survive this type of activity, your confidence builds, and you can face work-related challenges better.

Never Lose Focus

Just because you hit 50K per month doesn’t mean you are destined to enjoy that same level of success every month moving forward. Success is not automatic, and there are no shortcuts. Steve notes that if you want to continue to attain a large income and make dropshipping your full-time job, you must be willing to invest the time.

Taking care of your body and personal life are also critical for maintaining your focus in the ecommerce industry. Steve notes that if you let one area of your life slip a lot, it’s going to impact your work and the other areas of your life. While a “slip” every now and then is not necessarily bad, you must be careful not to let the “slip” become a pattern.

Data: The Key to Continued Success

While building a funnel and positioning products might be enjoyable, the actual launch can be a bit more intimidating. A quest for perfection can sometimes cloud efficiency and progress. In many cases, your initial creation may already be good enough. But you will never know unless you have data. With data, Steve notes, you can easily view your progress and make adjustments and improvements to your funnel.

A Final Piece of Advice

screenshot of Steve giving advice to other dropshippers

Jumping into an industry full of established competitors can be intimidating. But you will make progress as long as you are committed to continued learning. Remembering that you CAN enter this industry and succeed is vital to making progress!

If you aren’t seeing success today and feel like there is no hope, Steve offers a simple recommendation: make sure you keep showing up every day. Also, remember that everyone has their own journey, and it takes time to get better. As you move forward on your journey, be sure to work on your income-producing skills. If you keep working hard every single day, you will look back in a year and see that you have made progress.

Looking Back on the Journey

Looking back on his journey, Steve said that his early failures were a big part of his learning experience and success today. He learned how to analyze problems and diagnose them so he could develop good long-term solutions and maximize his productivity.

To discover how you can achieve financial success in the dropshipping industry, we invite you to reserve your seat at our free ecommerce masterclass today. We look forward to helping you make it to the $50,000 level through the Ecommerce Empire Academy online ecommerce course!

What One Billion-Dollar Business Did to Maximize LTV

If you’re looking for a winning strategy to implement in your dropshipping business, there are certain lessons to be learned from some of the giants in the ecommerce industry. Here we’re going to look at what a billion-dollar business did to excel and how you can some of these strategies to maximize LTV. Specifically, the business we’ll be examining is GoDaddy.

Some might question how a prominent brand in an unrelated business can help their dropshipping store excel. But the fact is that the principles behind these businesses are essentially the same as any company that sells online, whether a small single-product Shopify store or a corporate giant.

What GoDaddy Does Right

One of the reasons GoDaddy is a favorite example of an online business is the fact that they hit on every single note perfectly. Their process is exceptional when covering everything that they need to maximize LTV, including:

  • Reoccurring purchases
  • Order bumps
  • Upsells

There isn’t a clearly identifiable weakness in GoDaddy’s strategy, and automatically upselling customers is how they stay profitable.

The biggest takeaway that we want for you to gain from GoDaddy is that they are willing to lose money to sell domains. The fact is that GoDaddy actually loses money with every domain sale they make. However, they make all of that money back in many ways, which we’ll cover here.

GoDaddy’s Winning Approach to Product Pages

Let’s use an example to illustrate what all GoDaddy does well. Searching for a domain like “empirestartsnow.com,” which is available, leads us to a product page telling us that this domain will cost us $11.99 for the first year.

From here, we can see their understanding of the sales process at work.

The Inclusion of a Smart Order Bump

Screen grab of GoDaddy upsell analysis

Below the price on the page, GoDaddy includes an order bump. It offers a discount on the domain “empirestartsnow.us” for one dollar. GoDaddy knows that not a lot of people will be likely to follow through on that order bump. But they still have a chance of making a profit on at least one in every ten orders. The order bump further clarifies that the customer gets the domain for $1 for the first year if they sign on for a two-year subscription, and for the second year, they’ll pay $20.

This illustrates how GoDaddy has probably learned that the average customer stays with them for at least two years after buying a domain. If they can encourage the customer to stay with them, GoDaddy will profit in the long run and maximize the lifetime value (LTV) of that customer.

Pushing Additional Offers

In addition to the subtle order bump, GoDaddy’s page features another offer just below it. This second point encourages customers to purchase three additional domains (e.g., .NET, .ORG) for $19.99, saving them 69%.

Again, this may look like they’re basically throwing money away, and a majority of customers may not make these purchases. But GoDaddy is more likely to profit over a longer stretch than they would without these offers.

Giving Customers Even More Choices to Look Through

Below those offers, GoDaddy further encourages more purchases, and this is a great strategy for increasing the value of every sale. They do so by listing a bunch of other domains for sale. Some are as cheap as a few dollars, and others are as expensive as $21,000. These may not attract many additional sales, but all of these offers maximize LTV.

A Shopping Cart That Adds More Offers

Once we hit that “add to cart” button for “empirestartsnow.com,” we’re taken to a cart page that’s another example of top-notch design.

Utilizing Post-Purchase Upsells

Screen grab of GoDaddy automatic upsell analysis with pre-checked options

The page is rich with post-purchase upsells that perfectly complement those pre-purchase upsells on the product page. Those post-purchase upsells reward customers after they make a purchase, which further inspires them to buy the product.

These post-purchase upsells include privacy protection for $9.99 and a package that includes both privacy and security for $14.99. The first offer is automatically checked to highlight it. Below these offers, they have “Start your website for FREE” automatically checked, too. It offers the chance for customers to host their website for free right from GoDaddy. This latter offer can help keep customers loyal to GoDaddy and subsequently increase their chances of making repeat purchases.

Customers can also choose to create a support email that’s connected to the domain.

A Highly Profitable Checkout Page

After selecting the various offers on that shopping cart page, customers are then taken to the shopping cart page to finalize their purchase.

Here, customers may be thrown off by the final price at the top. Instead of the $11.99 price advertised for “empirestartsnow.com,” the price now says $21.99. But the page is quick to clarify that this is the price for two years. Customers must choose “1 year” from the dropdown below if they want that initial price.

They also offer a quantity break with a small discount if customers choose to buy the domain for three years or longer. This illustrates how important it is to offer quantity break discounts at the point of sale (POS) to maximize LTV and profits. This is a practice we always encourage if you want to boost sales significantly.

At the same time, the rest of the page is very simple and neat. It encourages the customer to follow through on their purchase without simply abandoning the cart.

We’d like to take note of how GoDaddy makes use of that auto-select of the two-year option. This is something we practice at Ecommerce Empire Builders. We also encourage the use of best-seller highlights and quantity break discounts on our order forms. Implementing this strategy here alone can make a customer worth more than a day’s worth of ad spend.

Below these quantity break discounts, GoDaddy also includes an order bump to easily add domain privacy for $5.99 per year with one click.

Use GoDaddy’s Strategies to Your Advantage to Maximize LTV

happy customer purchasing add-ons and upsells

As you can see, GoDaddy certainly seems to know what it’s doing to attract customers and maximize profits. While GoDaddy might lose money with domain sales, all of these pre- and post-purchase upsells, along with other order bumps and quantity break discounts, go a long way in helping GoDaddy remain on top of its game. Applying these strategies to your dropshipping business can be invaluable in helping you grow and maximize LTV.

The Ultimate Dropshipping Case Study: Launching a $100/Day Business Within 5 Days

One common issue among dropshippers is the tendency to overanalyze and overthink the startup process. Oftentimes, people want to get everything perfect before launching their dropshipping business. But it’s important to get something out there as soon as possible to help you grow. In this ultimate dropshipping case study, we’ll look at one business we helped go from nothing to earning around $135 per day within five days.

We’ll also discuss how that success came from launching early, measuring the data, and optimizing accordingly to improve performance. In this article, you’ll learn what takeaways from this ultimate dropshipping case study you can apply to your business to help you flourish.

Day 1

screen grab of the purchasing data from day one in the ultimate dropshipping case study

For one of our clients, we started off on day one of their business with $32.94 worth of sales, which we were able to analyze through the client’s Clickfunnels sales funnel. You can learn more about how to use a five-page sales funnel template, too.

This is the sales funnel process we began with:

1. Squeeze Pages

At the beginning of each sales funnel, the customer is taken to a squeeze page, which is primarily intended to grab the person’s email address. This email address can later be used as an asset to help follow up with promotional emails and remarketing campaigns. Long email lists can help you earn a lot more money in the long run, and your sales funnels will be the key to building them.

2. Order Bumps

It’s also important to give the customer an order bump. This is essentially a small add-on item to the customer’s shopping list that the customer will be willing to add to their order. Having an order bump can further boost the value of each customer order.

3. Upsell Pages

In addition to the squeeze page and the order bump, you can also use upsell pages, or one-time offers (OTOs), to further increase the value of each purchase. Encouraging customers to buy additional items for less is a good way to increase customer satisfaction. For the first OTO, we offered more of the same product. For the second OTO, we offered less of the same product, and the third was a monthly subscription.

A monthly subscription is one of the most powerful assets for your business. If you can get people to commit to a regular subscription, this means regular recurring revenue for you. Whether it’s for a service or a subscription box with different product variations, you can establish consistent income with a good subscription program.

4. Quantity Breaks

Through our client’s Facebook ads, we were able to draw in some cold traffic to our sales funnel. On day one, we attracted two visitors, and the average cart value for the day was $16.47. While one customer chose to buy two of the promoted product, the other customer chose to purchase four. This example alone shows how powerful quantity breaks can be when selling a product. If you clearly show how much customers can save by purchasing two, four, six, eight, or even bigger quantities of a product, they’ll be far more likely to make bigger purchases.

5. What to Keep in Mind About Facebook Ads

screen grab of Facebook ad analytics to show the impact of consistent campaigns

When it came to the ad campaigns, we spent around $29.57. So, given the total revenue, we basically broke even for the day. Keep in mind that breaking even on cold traffic is a good thing, as it means that you can essentially get customers for free and, if they’re satisfied, they’re likely to spend more and become repeat customers. Just starting out with Facebook ads, your campaigns won’t be profitable right away. But with enough time, ads can be well worth the investment.

If you can make your average cart value equal to or higher than your cost per purchase, you’re on your way to success.

Day 2

On day two, we made the same as day one at $32.94, with an average cart value of $16.47. In fact, the data in our sales funnel was the same: there were two customers, one buying two of the product and the other buying four.

The ad data revealed that our Facebook ads led to one of the customer acquisitions, and again, we broke even. For just two days, this didn’t look bad to us, so we saw no need to change anything yet. We recommend that you also avoid taking any action with your ads and experimenting until a few days have passed. By waiting, you can get a better idea of how well your efforts are performing and determine where to go from there.

Day 3

On day three, things didn’t go quite as well, with only one customer coming in who made a single purchase of two of the promoted item. The total revenue was $12.97.

At this point, we decided to shut off one ad that wasn’t performing well and launch another. After three days of running our campaigns, we felt this was an appropriate change to make.

Day 4

man looking at his watch as he waits to change his ad campaign strategies

Day four saw some improvement with a total of $72.88 worth of sales, and an average cart value of $18.22. We drew in four customers. One bought a single unit, while two bought four items, and the fourth bought a quantity of six. None of our upsells had seen any action yet, but it was still a good day.

Again, we spent around $30 on ads, and our new campaign worked well along with the others. And because of the minimal amount of change to our campaign, we were able to see some profits. We can’t stress enough that it’s best to wait until your campaigns have had a chance to work before making changes. If we had made too many changes too soon, we may not have seen these profits.

Day 5

By day five, we had broken $130 dollars. Our total revenue was $135.79, with an average cart value of $27.16. We brought in five customers, one of whom purchased one item. The same day, two customers purchased four items, another two purchased eight, and, perhaps most excitingly, we successfully upsold one!

Compare this to when we were somewhat worried about our upsell page performance on days two through four. If we had made any changes then, we may not have seen this success by day five.

Another positive on day five was that we attracted 21 opt-ins who submitted their email addresses. While only five actually made a purchase, our email campaigns were ready to go and help bring those people back to buy at a later date.

Don’t Underestimate the Power of Quantity Breaks

One of the biggest takeaways in this ultimate dropshipping case study is the importance of quantity breaks. Considering many of our profits came from customers buying two or more of the promoted item, you can see how profitable quantity breaks can be. People want to save as much as possible, so if you can provide quantity break discounts, you’ll ultimately drive more sales.

We would also like to further emphasize the importance of upsells. We may have only seen one on day five, but that means more profit and could lead to future upsells. Don’t be discouraged if your upsells aren’t performing well within the first couple of days. Give them some time like the rest of your campaign.

With these practices, we were able to help our client earn over $135 within a week. Just imagine how your business can perform in the long term if you practice the same strategies from this ultimate dropshipping case study.

Generate $300 a Day With a Five-Page Dropshipping Funnel

Empire builders, are you ready to take your ecommerce business to the next level? Today, I’m going to let you on all the best-kept secrets of building profitable dropshipping funnels. Through our Business in a Box program, I recently created a five-page dropshipping funnel that went from $0 to $100 in sales on its very first day. Within five days, this same funnel was generating over $300 in sales each day. Read on to learn how you can create your own profitable dropshipping funnel in 2020.

5 Steps to Creating a Profitable Dropshipping Store

You’ve seen others find success in the ecommerce industry, and you want to experience that same type of success for yourself. By following the five steps below, you will be well on your way to generating over $300 a day with your own dropshipping funnel in 2020.

1. Find a Passion Niche

The first step in creating a profitable dropshipping store in 2020 is to select a passion niche. People put money into their passions, so you need to find a niche that many people have already been doing and will continue to do. If you’re having trouble coming up with an idea, head on over to Wikipedia and search hobbies. This search will generate a list of thousands of hobbies that people have historically enjoyed.

I recommend choosing a hobby that you enjoy, as well. By no means do you have to choose a hobby that you are passionate about yourself. However, building and growing your business will be a lot more enjoyable if you enjoy the niche you’re going into.

2. Create an Irresistible Offer

After choosing a niche for your dropshipping store, it’s time to come up with an irresistible offer. Your offer is actually the most important part of your entire business. Your offer has to be compelling and enticing. Customers need a reason to buy from you instead of from Amazon or Walmart. The offer will always be the most crucial piece of the pie when it comes to creating a profitable dropshipping store.

To make an enticing offer, I like to pair one physical product with two digital products. This strategy is a way to set yourself apart from the competition. Without implementing this strategy, you’re just competing on price. Competing on price is simply just a race to the bottom. You have to give your customer something enticing other than just a product available at the lowest price possible.

3.  Build Out Your Five-Page Dropshipping Funnel

After coming up with an irresistible offer, it’s time to build out your funnel. At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we build all of our dropshipping funnels through the ClickFunnels software. We have found great success for ourselves and our clients with this platform and recommend that you use it, as well.

On ClickFunnels, there are a ton of different funnel option templates to choose from or build from scratch. On the funnel that generated over $300 a day in just five days, we used a simple five-page dropshipping funnel

First Page — Front End Offer

screen grab of explaining why collecting emails is an essential part of the five-page dropshipping funnel

The first page of your funnel is where your front end offer is displayed. Your front end offer is what you focus your ads on. This is also the page where you collect emails of the customers to build your email list. This step is crucial for capitalizing on your leads.

Second Page — Order Bump

The second page of the funnel is an order bump option. This is where you present the customer with the opportunity to buy more of the front end offer.

Third Page — Upsell Offer #1

The third page of the funnel is where you present your first upsell offer. This is where you offer customers the opportunity to buy a premium product related to your front end offer.

Fourth Page -Upsell Offer #2

The fourth page of the funnel is exactly the same as the third page of the funnel. You are simply offering another product as an upsell offer that is somehow related to the front end offer.

Fifth Page — Subscription Offer

The fifth page of the funnel is where you try to entice customers to opt-in to a subscription service that relates to the front end offer.

Everyone in the ecommerce industry needs to be offering these order bumps and upsell offers on their funnels. They are easy ways to increase the average cart values of your customers. You are doing yourself and your business a disservice when you neglect this aspect of your funnel.

4. Drive Traffic to the Funnel

baking hobbyist looking at ads on her phone

After your funnel is built out, you need to start driving traffic to your funnel. Everything up until now has been the “easy” part of creating a profitable dropshipping store. Driving traffic to your funnel will be where the real challenges come into play.

Running Facebook ads is the simplest way to go when trying to drive traffic to your store, but you can use Instagram influencers, too (and I show you how to do it here). You will need to do tons of market research to get this element of the funnel just right. We typically like to spend between $20 to $30 a day on our initial Facebook ads. With these initial ads, we try to run three different ad sets for seven days. It would be best if you had a variation in your ads — variety will ultimately attract customers. Success won’t happen overnight, so be patient with running your ads.

5. Interpret Funnel Data

As you’re running your first ad set for those initial seven days, collect as much data as possible. Take note of your average cart value and opt-in rates. You can then use this data to make micro tweaks in your funnel to optimize it to its full potential. Continually collecting and interpreting your funnel data will enable you to make the right tweaks to make your five-page dropshipping funnel as profitable as possible.

From Selling Gag Gifts to Earning $1,000,000 as a Successful Dropshipping Store

Empire builders, are you ready to create your own $1,000,000 dropshipping store? To help you speed through your dropshipping learning curve, check out the case study I did on an extremely successful dropshipping store below. In this case study, I’ll take you through the inside of a business that is making millions each month. You can use these key takeaways and implement them into your own eCommerce business today.

Manscaped

The dropshipping store that we will be analyzing today is Manscaped. When this store came out two to three years ago, it was a joke that just sold gag gifts. However, the store has now transformed from gag gifts to a million-dollar business.

There are a ton of things I love about this store and a few things I don’t. Today, I will clue you in on what I think Manscaped gets right and a few things I think they could work on. However, at the end of the day, money talks. This store has proven to be extremely profitable, so they’re doing something right.

Ads Are the Bread and Butter of Every Successful Dropshipping Store

In the dropshipping industry, ads are your bread and butter. One thing that Manscaped has perfected is their ads. So, what can you learn from them? First things first, you must do your research. Research is key when it comes to creating a profitable dropshipping business. Always research what types of ads your competition is running. This is free market research, so don’t miss out on this opportunity. If you really want to geek out on marketing, I recommend reading Breakthrough Advertising

For now, head over to the Manscaped Facebook page. There, you can see the types of ads they are running right now. Manscaped runs a variety of ads on Facebook, something that I think every dropshipping business needs to do if they want to be profitable.

Remember, not all ads are created equal.

You can’t run the same ads you do to loyal customers as you do to people who have never heard of your brand. You have to understand the temperature of your traffic and cater your ads to the specific type of customer you are targeting. The two main types of advertisements that Manscaped runs and that you need run for your own business are cold traffic ads and retargeting ads.

1. Cold Traffic Ads

woman scrolling through ads on social media

Cold traffic ads are the ads you run to people who have never heard of your brand before. They don’t know anything about your product yet, so you have to highlight the solution that your product will bring to them.

2. Retargeting Ads

Retargeting ads are the ads you run to customers who have already bought from you or those who already have a sense of what your brand is all about. In these types of ads, you highlight your products while keeping your brand at the forefront of potential customers’ minds.

Manscaped does a good job of running both cold traffic ads and retargeting ads, as you can tell from their Facebook ads library. They also make their advertising fun. Their slogan is, “Over 1 million men trust Manscaped tools for their family jewels.” This is a fun advertisement that uses a play on words to draw customers into the brand.

Use Manscaped’s slogan as inspiration to create a fun and captivating slogan for your business. The thing about ads and marketing is that you can’t just copy and paste someone else’s copy. Great copy and ads are assembled like a puzzle. You take inspiration from multiple sources and then create something unique for your brand.

Perfecting the Landing Page for a Successful Dropshipping Store

Once you’ve learned how to create ads that send traffic to your store, your landing page must be set up to make the sale. If your ad did a good job advertising the product, you can go right in for the sale.

However, if your ad didn’t do a good job of pre-framing the product, then you have to sell the customer on the product. Manscaped’s landing page has a mixture of both. They are telling you about the product, while also selling you on it.

What I Don’t Like About Manscaped’s Landing Page

discussing the multiple product offers on Manscaped's landing page

What I don’t like about Manscaped‘s landing page is that they seem to have too much going on. But a confused mind does not buy. The Manscaped landing page has tabs to other products. This adds confusion for the customer.

People want to be told what’s best. So tell them by focusing on one specific offer. Make this offer clear, and don’t try to showcase every product you sell.

Confusion over this concept is why a lot of dropshippers have great site traffic but poor conversion to sales. They try to sell the customer on a hundred different products at once. Remember, a confused mind will never buy. You can offer different products on your store, but you must only highlight one specific offer when trying to get that first sale. The big takeaway is to always have one clear offer on your landing page. Tell the customer what they want and make the sale. Even if you don’t make the sale immediately, you can keep reaching out with the strategies I discuss here.

What I Do Like About Manscaped’s Landing Page

What I do like about Manscaped’s landing page are its layout and its imagery. They have a scrolling CTA, which is a nice touch. They also have premium images depicting their product. You must have premium images in your store if you want to make big money. This doesn’t necessarily mean professional photographs. 3D rendered images are all you really need to have premium images on your dropshipping site.

Manscaped also does a good job of highlighting their product’s most significant benefit. That’s what a successful dropshipping store does. People don’t need the nitty-gritty information about your product; most of them don’t care.

Highlight the one huge benefit your product has to offer a potential customer. If you don’t know what that one big benefit is, consult with the consumer. Listen and talk to customers about your product. By doing this, you will see a recurring theme about what customers like about your product. This is your selling point. Overall, I love the Manscaped site. The only thing I would change would be to focus on a single offer, rather than trying to sell multiple products at once.

How to Make Millions With Dropshipping Through Shopify and Clickfunnels in 2020

Empire builders, are you ready to take your dropshipping business to the seven-figure level in 2020? You can make millions with dropshipping. This may seem like a daunting task or maybe an unachievable goal, especially for those who are just getting started with ecommerce. But once you understand the systems and processes that go into creating a winning Shopify or Clickfunnels operation, anything is possible.

Learning these processes takes a great deal of time and effort. There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to the dropshipping industry. But I’m here to help cut your learning time in half. You don’t have to keep spinning your wheels, trying to figure out the secrets behind profitable dropshipping stores. Read on to learn more about the systems and processes I use to create seven-figure funnels consistently.

Lead Your Customers to Your Product

The three most essential elements of all dropshipping stores are ads, sale pages, and order forms. These are the three elements that you must perfect to create a profitable dropshipping business. Everything else is truly just icing on the cake. So, how do you perfect these three elements? Well, it all comes down to understanding your customers.

The bottom line is that customers need to be led. This is where many dropshippers simply get things wrong. Many dropshippers that use Shopify or WooCommerce have general storefronts or landing pages that simply have too much going on. There are too many options to choose from, and customers, especially new customers, feel overwhelmed.

As humans, we silently like to be led. It makes everything a bit easier. When creating your landing page, you want a select few products on the page. You also need to tell customers what each of these products can do for them. Think simplicity when it comes to your landing page. Ultimately, a confused mind never buys.

Drive Your Ad Traffic to the Right Location

example of a clear sales page

Now don’t get me wrong, you do need a landing page or storefront. Landing pages are especially great for returning customers. However, they’re not so great for your new customers. These first-timers need a bit more guidance when they come to your store, and here’s why.

Every ecommerce store sees a drop off from the add to cart page to the end of the purchase process. However, the stores that take the time to learn their data systems and customer behaviors are the ones that minimize this drop off rate. When you analyze your data, you come to see that how you interact with new customers is vital to your success.

Most of you are already using ads if you’re in the industry, as you should be. However, most of you are not utilizing your ads correctly. A vast majority of dropshippers use ads to drive traffic to their storefront page when, in reality, they should be using their ads to drive traffic to a sales page.

1. What’s a Storefront Page?

Your storefront page or landing page is where you show off the products you have to offer. This is great for returning customers. They have already formed a relationship and a level of trust with your store. They know what your products are, what they can do for them, and which products they like best.

However, this is not an excellent space for first-time customers. When you use your ads to send traffic to your storefront, new customers are bombarded with many products. There is simply too many options and not enough direction. That is why in order to convert clicks to sales, you must use your ads to drive traffic to a sales page and not your storefront page.

2. What’s a Sales Page?

Creating great sales pages is how you convert new customers into loyal customers. A sales page only highlights one specific product. There are no distractions on this page. You’re giving customers one option to focus on and telling them what his specific product can do for them. On your sales page, you want to have elements like testimonials, reviews, and guarantees. These are new customers that know nothing about your business. You want them to feel as welcome and comfortable as possible. Creating this atmosphere on your sales page will ultimately lead to higher conversion rates for your business.

Optimize Your Order Form

After customers add products to their cart, they reach the order form. To minimize the drop off from cart to purchase, you have to optimize your order form layout. Simplicity is always key. The first step in optimizing your order form is to keep it to a single page. You don’t want customers to have to jump through hoops just to get your product in their hands. Make sure your order form asks for billing and shipping information all on a single page.

While keeping the order form simple, you also need to utilize simple ways to increase the customer cart revenue easily. This can be done by offering order bumps and quantity break discounts right on the order form.

Keep your order bump products complementary to the product they are buying. If they’re buying a toothbrush, offer toothpaste as a simple order bump.

With the quantity break discounts, offer a “buy two get 20% off” deal. You always need to be looking for simple ways to add revenue to a single customer’s order. You will reap many benefits when you can perfect this technique.

Perfect the Funnel

new dropshipper trying to perfect her sales funnel

Ultimately, to create a seven-figure ecommerce business, you must perfect the funnel. In the Shopify world, the funnel is simply too long. This creates friction. With Clickfunnels, the funnel is much tighter.

A tighter funnel converts to more sales for your business.

The hardest aspect to overcome in dropshipping is that first sale. You want those first sales to be as frictionless as possible, by getting customers to purchase in as little as three clicks. That is why you must direct your ad traffic to simple sales pages that lead them to optimized order forms. This is the recipe for success when it comes to perfecting the funnel. Once you get your first sale, you can reach hundreds of dollars in sales in the first few days and keep building your momentum.

Keep in mind, creating the perfect funnel won’t happen overnight. You will have to put the time and effort into conducting market research and analyzing your existing data to create a funnel that converts at the highest rate.

As a closing piece of advice, always look to maximize the total revenue a first-time customer spends with your business. This is best maximized through:

  • Opt-Ins
  • Order Bumps
  • Quantity Breaks
  • Upsell Offers

Remember, research and diligence are what separates the seven-figure stores from the rest.
