The Four Things You Need to Make $5,000 a Month in Online Sales

We’ve seen some of our Ecommerce Empire Builder students hit some amazing monthly totals with online sales. Some have hit $10,000, others have hit $50,000, and some have even hit seven figures.

If you’re thinking about getting started with online sales or have already started and are stagnating, you’re probably wondering how you can get to those profit levels.

Luckily, there’s a system for you to get there.

We’ve had four of our students in our seven-figure club prove that while the group is hanging in rarified air, it’s an attainable goal. We’ve had even more people — 29 — hit $50,000 in a month. Also, 50 people have hit our $10,000 per month club.

So how did they do it? What steps did they take to get to that level of success?

The Four Quadrants

Look, I get it. $5,000 a month can seem like an intimidating number for a lot of people. The truth is, everyone who began their eCommerce journey had a moment at the beginning where they wondered whether or not they could make a living from this.

But it can be done — and there’s proof.

Screen grab of Peter Pru recommending viewers watch student success story videos

My YouTube channel features lots of testimonials from members who have crossed the $10k, $50k, and seven-figure thresholds. These are people who followed our program, put in the work, and have seen the results.

Watch these videos and listen to their stories (and share some love by liking/commenting while you’re there!). These are our students inside our eCommerce Empire Academy, so there is a lot to learn from them.

When it comes to our students who hit the $10,000 per month club, how did they do it? How are so many people successful at this level — and why are so many people NOT successful?

Our success stories come from a variety of business types and industries, but they all had at least one thing in common: they’ve mastered the four quadrants.

These are the four things every business must identify to be successful. The quadrants are composed of:

  1. Niche
  2. Offer
  3. Funnel
  4. Traffic

Let’s take a look at each one.

1. Niche

Online business owners assessing new strategies for online sales and marketing

Without a doubt, this is the most important component of building your online sales business. Of course, having a great product is critical here, but it’s not enough.

Before you have a winning product, you need to know your niche and understand, “Who am I selling it to?”

Start with the people who have a problem that you and your product can solve. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who is my target audience?
  • What are they already buying?
  • How can we sell them something they’re already buying, but this time, they buy from us?

The best way to identify a niche is to stay in the realm of passions and hobbies. These are tried and true areas, neither of which is going away any time soon.

Trendy, viral fads can make short-term money, but they often dwindle and die.

Pursuing passions and hobbies, which are typically long-standing niches, is a better way to set yourself up for long-term, lasting success.

2. Offer

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing how to make more valuable offers

Next, you have to identify your product, which represents your offer. This one is simple (but not easy). What are you offering your target audience in your specific niche? What product are they buying from you, and what reason can you give them to buy from you over your competitors?

That’s the most crucial question to ask in establishing your offer. What differentiates you from everyone else?

The term “secret sauce” is a cliche at this point, but it’s often used for a reason. It represents what one company has that another doesn’t. So what’s your offering’s secret sauce?

When you explain what your offer includes that the competition doesn’t, you shouldn’t focus on price. Basing your offer on price is a race to the bottom. Unfortunately, that’s what you get on Amazon, and it’s no way to run a business.

What you want to do is work backward. Craft offers from products your audience members are already buying. The easiest way to do this is to offer a bundle of digital products. For example: let’s say you sell a fly fishing rod. You can also include an eBook or video tutorial on fly fishing.

These kinds of product packages offer added value to your customer that they can’t find elsewhere. It shows you care about their specific needs; you care about the people at the other end of the transaction.

They can’t get an irresistible offer like that from Amazon.

If finding your niche is the most important part, crafting your irresistible offer is the hardest. After that, it all gets much easier, and people will find a way to give you money.

3. Funnel

Once you have your niche and your offer, you’re ready to build your funnel (i.e., a Clickfunnels or Shopify store). People often put this first because it’s tangible, whereas your niche and your offer are not.

You can’t skip the steps, however. If your niche and offer are in place, and you’ve done the necessary research, the funnel building part is easy.

It involves copywriting, crafting offers, and figuring out how to connect your audience to your offer. There are many training and templates available for you to help you do this

4. Traffic

Finally, the last quadrant is traffic. The strategy and tactics you use to build traffic streams will depend on your budget.

You can go with influencer marketing, where you reach out to someone with an existing social media following. You give them money and creative materials (scripts, copy, etc.). Then they give you a shout-out on their popular channels, helping you make online sales.

This is the best strategy if you are on a tight budget.

If you have more to spend, you can go with a paid advertising strategy, targeting platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Google. This requires a higher budget because it’s expensive. But remember, your advertising is only as effective as the data about your buyers that you can give these platforms.

The best answer is to mix in a little of both. Ads and influencer marketing that work together can be a powerful combination.

Using a New Sales Funnel Strategy to Make $10k in 7 Days

Today, we’re going to focus on how important it is to utilize the right sales funnel strategy — as well as the perfect formula for advertising on any platform. When it comes to dropshipping, it doesn’t matter what platform you’re using to drive traffic to your ecommerce shop: you want to see results.

With this project, we spent roughly $1,800 and within a week saw a return investment of over $10,000. The key takeaway we want you to have is that once you’ve pulled traffic in, you have to understand what to do with those online eyes reviewing your product. How do you utilize Clickfunnels to do more than pull a shopper in and make that initial sale?

What’s the Big Secret to Our Sales Funnel Strategy?

Many people think that there’s some big secret to dropshipping. While there are learning curves for finding the perfect formula, there’s no big secret to making sales. What you choose to do with the traffic visiting your dropshipping website is what defines your long-term success. For some reason, many people miss that opportunity.

Rule one with dropshipping: you need to be sending people to a funnel, not just an open-ended space. The average funnel converts roughly 10% of visitors, while the average Shopify store converts around 1.5-2% at most. You’re going to be targeting cold traffic, which will be completely new customers that know nothing about you or your product. You don’t have the benefit of already having a consumer-to-business relationship with cold traffic. So your goal is to use your sales funnel to gain their trust and make them into returning customers.

How Does The Sales Funnel Strategy Handle Cold Traffic?

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing how to appeal to cold traffic

Rather than driving customers to a webpage with thousands of products, you want to directly target a single product with your sales funnel strategy. This means you have more chance to gain their trust, you can easily showcase the product, and there aren’t hundreds of distractions. The funnel is pitching a product to them virtually. So you want to ensure that the product advertised is clear, concise, and stands out from the competition. One of the best ways to do this is by advertising your bestseller. Everyone has one, and it’s easy to target cold traffic consumers with this product.

How It Works

For example, we took premium fishing lures, set them up on a specified landing page with an attractive offer. The funnel led consumers to a clean-cut page that showcased the product as a premium set of free fishing lures for a limited time. Not only did this attract cold traffic by offering a product to a targeted niche, but it pulled in consumers based on curiosity.

On the page, you could easily scroll and see the product, some high-quality imagery, testimonials, your standard 30-day money-back guarantee, secure checkout badges, and a short FAQ. The page was designed to have everything a consumer might worry about when choosing to trust an online advertisement from a platform like Google or Facebook. All of their questions about the deal were answered clearly and concisely to help build trust.

By offering a great deal with comprehensible material, we were able to attract more than a passing glance. This is the perfect setup for cold traffic. It allows you to turn it into warm and eventually hot traffic. You don’t need other buttons to other pages on the platform or anything that could distract potential consumers. You only need your best-selling product advertised with its benefits highlighted.

This strategy allows you to create assets by pulling in their email via the deal. Even if they don’t buy today, you’ve already won by having the ability to potentially get their attention back with your next deal.

Turning Cold Traffic Into Warm Traffic to Get to Hot Traffic

Peter Pru emphasizing the importance of keeping a sales funnel strategy simple

Now, you may wonder how cold traffic can be beneficial if it’s only for a single sale. The purpose of cold traffic isn’t solely to get somebody to buy a single product from your ecommerce shop. It’s to turn those buyers into warm traffic and eventually get them to that level of becoming hot traffic. While making the initial interaction is great, you want to take that cold traffic and turn it into the chance for something more.

To better understand the differences between the variations of consumer traffic, we’ll explain the benefits of each.

Cold Traffic

These customers aren’t familiar with your business. They’ve never shopped with you, and you’ll need to help them understand why they should purchase from you through the setup of your platform. These consumers aren’t on your email list. They don’t follow you on social media yet, and to put it simply, they don’t know anything about you.

Cold traffic is:

  • New to your store, which is great and means that you were able to get their attention briefly
  • Can convert into a returning customer so that you make even more from them in the future
  • Might potentially tell their friends about you if your product is something great, which can lead to even more traffic

Warm Traffic

This customer may not have bought from you yet. But they’ve been teetering on the line and are revisiting your page to potentially buy a product from you. They may have signed up for your email subscription already. But while they express interest in buying, they haven’t quite pulled the trigger yet.

Warm traffic is:

  • Slightly familiar with you, which means you’re in the home stretch of making them into a customer or a returning customer
  • Has probably been paying attention to your services for a while and is showing interest in what you have to offer
  • One step close to becoming your favorite kind of traffic: hot

Hot Traffic

This is obviously the best kind of traffic. It means that an onlooking consumer has pulled the trigger and decided to trust you. They make the purchase and wait for their order to arrive.

Make Things Simple With Your Sales Funnel Strategy

Now that you understand the importance of traffic, you can focus on how to make things as simple as can be for that hot traffic. This is where a lot of people mess up. Consumers don’t want an overly complex checkout system. If they’ve made it to this point, then they want you to continue being clear and concise. So make it simple and easy to follow through with a few clicks. Don’t continue to offer more products; just get to the checkout page. Make your deal clean-cut and simplify it. You’ve already won by turning them into hot traffic.

Once they’ve hit that complete order button, then lead them to additional special offers. This is the time for upsell pages that offer things like digital products, ebooks, and small items that encourage them to put more money in your pocket while still offering a deal.

5 Best-Selling Digital Products to Sell Online

Creating digital products to sell online is one of the best ecommerce strategies for new businesses because of the profitability. Unlike physical products, you only need to create them once, and then you can make repeat sales with them. Unfortunately, a lot of people neglect to create and sell these products properly. They may overcomplicate things and neglect to take full advantage of these opportunities, only to drop them out of frustration. However, there are plenty of great products out there that are worth the investment.

The following are five of the best-selling digital products to sell online, whether your business is just starting out or you’re looking for new worthwhile digital products to add to your growing inventory. You can sell them repeatedly, or you can even offer them as free giveaways to gain more subscriptions and email leads.

1. Video Courses

close-up of a professional camera as a man starts creating video course content

While video courses can be extremely lucrative, it’s important to keep in mind that they require you to be engaged and truly invested in them. Other digital products to sell online may not demand too much interest or expertise on the seller’s part. But video courses are the exception. If you’re going to teach people about a certain topic, you need to have some knowledge and experience in that niche.

Use YouTube to Begin Your Research

The first step you can take when getting started with video courses is to look on YouTube. Here, you can determine if a niche is actually consuming free video content. The big indicator here is that if people aren’t consuming free content, they’re not likely to spend much money on more premium content down the road. Try to look for videos that get up to a million or more views, which is a good sign that free content is popular in that niche and that many of those viewers will probably buy content from you.

For instance, if you look up poker video courses on YouTube, you’ll find plenty of content that a lot of people consume. Many of those videos easily get up to over a million views. While many videos in the poker niche might not get more than a few hundred, the fact that many other videos approach or reach that million-viewer threshold is indicative of a viable market.

Check Clickbank to See Where People Are Buying Content

There are a couple of places to see where people are buying video content, the first of which is Clickbank. Simply create a free account and search for the topic you want to cover. The nice thing about Clickbank is that they make it obvious which products are selling the best on a daily basis. However, not every niche appears on Clickbank.

Look at Udemy

If you’re not finding your niche on Clickbank, you can also check Udemy. The courses on Udemy may not be the most in-depth, but they can give you some insight as to which niches are the most profitable for selling video content.

You may also find that your niche is popular on one platform but not the other. For instance, when you search for poker videos on Udemy, you’ll get a lot of results, but there are curiously very few results on Clickbank. If anything, identifying these differences can help you identify opportunities to sell that others in that niche aren’t seeing.

2. Templates

Templates are also very profitable digital products to sell online. Many people want something that makes it easy for them to follow and semi-automate certain processes. For example, there is a big market for email templates because businesses and professionals don’t want to have to manually create every email from scratch.

Look for Templates on Google Images

When looking for examples of templates, one of the easiest methods is to simply do a Google Image search. Look for templates in your niche. Some niches will be harder than others, of course. Take our poker niche for example. It’s not the best if you want to sell templates instead of or in addition to video content. Meanwhile, the home and fitness niche has plenty of templates out there for home workouts.

Templates make both profitable products and excellent giveaways to generate more leads and subscribers.

3. E-books

screen grab of researching potential ebook niches on Amazon

E-books and templates are somewhat similar. But, while templates are good for a quick win for customers, e-books require more active investment. People actually have to read them.

Many people who think of e-books think of them as massive feature-length books of 100 pages or more. But you don’t need to make them anywhere near this length. In fact, a good length for an e-book is around ten pages — or even fewer, if possible. It all depends on your niche; some niches may require longer e-books to cover everything that customers want to know.

Check Out E-book Examples on Amazon

When looking for examples of e-books in your niche, the best place to go is Amazon. Specifically, look for your topic in the books section.

Selling e-books is likely profitable if you find that a lot of people are buying books in that specific niche. You can look at the most popular topics to cover. Reconceptualize some of the ideas discussed in those books to help you find the most lucrative e-book opportunities.

Use The PLR Store to Find Your E-books

One of the easiest ways to put your e-books together is to visit theplrstore.com. Private label rights (PLR) will give you the right to sell an e-book repeatedly for profit as your own product. You may need to create your own e-books if you aren’t able to find your niche on The PLR Store, but this site can save you a lot of time, money, and effort.

When selling your e-books, remember that it’s best to avoid overwhelming the customer with information. Give them valuable content that they’ll find useful one product at a time.

4. Membership Sites

There are two different types of membership sites that you can run, both of which are ideal digital products to sell online for many niches.

Charge One-Time Fees

You can offer a one-time fee for membership on some sites. For example, you may include a selection of video content on your membership site, for which you would charge a one-time fee to give members access to all video content at once.

Giving Access on a Monthly Basis

It’s also possible to give people monthly access to your website with a subscription. Unlike a membership site with a one-time fee, you can earn more money from long-term subscriptions in turn for providing information to customers on a regular basis. In the process, you’ll be able to gain their trust over time, and they’re likely going to spend more money on your products.

With subscriptions, you can release regular updates featuring video courses, templates, e-books, and more that keep people coming back to you.

5. Coaching and Consulting

woman practicing yoga with a virtual yoga group and instructor

If you’re an expert in something or really enjoy a certain activity and have something to offer to others, you can make that a profitable skill through coaching and consulting. People are always looking for mentors to help them learn more and remain accountable.

Consider what you can offer to your customers on a weekly basis if you want to focus on these digital products to sell online. You may need to charge anywhere from $100 to thousands of dollars on a monthly basis for this kind of content—it will ultimately depend on the kind of advice or guidance you’re offering.

One great example is the fitness niche. If you’re somebody who stays active and healthy and can spread your knowledge to people trying to get to your level, people are always looking for someone like you to hold them accountable. Spend a few hours with a group of students or mentees, and help them grow and improve. While you may be tempted to give away free consulting, it’s typically best to charge for every course or session, as people spending money on your services are more driven to succeed.

Consult With the Pros at Ecommerce Empire Builders

What One Billion-Dollar Business Did to Maximize LTV

If you’re looking for a winning strategy to implement in your dropshipping business, there are certain lessons to be learned from some of the giants in the ecommerce industry. Here we’re going to look at what a billion-dollar business did to excel and how you can some of these strategies to maximize LTV. Specifically, the business we’ll be examining is GoDaddy.

Some might question how a prominent brand in an unrelated business can help their dropshipping store excel. But the fact is that the principles behind these businesses are essentially the same as any company that sells online, whether a small single-product Shopify store or a corporate giant.

What GoDaddy Does Right

One of the reasons GoDaddy is a favorite example of an online business is the fact that they hit on every single note perfectly. Their process is exceptional when covering everything that they need to maximize LTV, including:

  • Reoccurring purchases
  • Order bumps
  • Upsells

There isn’t a clearly identifiable weakness in GoDaddy’s strategy, and automatically upselling customers is how they stay profitable.

The biggest takeaway that we want for you to gain from GoDaddy is that they are willing to lose money to sell domains. The fact is that GoDaddy actually loses money with every domain sale they make. However, they make all of that money back in many ways, which we’ll cover here.

GoDaddy’s Winning Approach to Product Pages

Let’s use an example to illustrate what all GoDaddy does well. Searching for a domain like “empirestartsnow.com,” which is available, leads us to a product page telling us that this domain will cost us $11.99 for the first year.

From here, we can see their understanding of the sales process at work.

The Inclusion of a Smart Order Bump

Screen grab of GoDaddy upsell analysis

Below the price on the page, GoDaddy includes an order bump. It offers a discount on the domain “empirestartsnow.us” for one dollar. GoDaddy knows that not a lot of people will be likely to follow through on that order bump. But they still have a chance of making a profit on at least one in every ten orders. The order bump further clarifies that the customer gets the domain for $1 for the first year if they sign on for a two-year subscription, and for the second year, they’ll pay $20.

This illustrates how GoDaddy has probably learned that the average customer stays with them for at least two years after buying a domain. If they can encourage the customer to stay with them, GoDaddy will profit in the long run and maximize the lifetime value (LTV) of that customer.

Pushing Additional Offers

In addition to the subtle order bump, GoDaddy’s page features another offer just below it. This second point encourages customers to purchase three additional domains (e.g., .NET, .ORG) for $19.99, saving them 69%.

Again, this may look like they’re basically throwing money away, and a majority of customers may not make these purchases. But GoDaddy is more likely to profit over a longer stretch than they would without these offers.

Giving Customers Even More Choices to Look Through

Below those offers, GoDaddy further encourages more purchases, and this is a great strategy for increasing the value of every sale. They do so by listing a bunch of other domains for sale. Some are as cheap as a few dollars, and others are as expensive as $21,000. These may not attract many additional sales, but all of these offers maximize LTV.

A Shopping Cart That Adds More Offers

Once we hit that “add to cart” button for “empirestartsnow.com,” we’re taken to a cart page that’s another example of top-notch design.

Utilizing Post-Purchase Upsells

Screen grab of GoDaddy automatic upsell analysis with pre-checked options

The page is rich with post-purchase upsells that perfectly complement those pre-purchase upsells on the product page. Those post-purchase upsells reward customers after they make a purchase, which further inspires them to buy the product.

These post-purchase upsells include privacy protection for $9.99 and a package that includes both privacy and security for $14.99. The first offer is automatically checked to highlight it. Below these offers, they have “Start your website for FREE” automatically checked, too. It offers the chance for customers to host their website for free right from GoDaddy. This latter offer can help keep customers loyal to GoDaddy and subsequently increase their chances of making repeat purchases.

Customers can also choose to create a support email that’s connected to the domain.

A Highly Profitable Checkout Page

After selecting the various offers on that shopping cart page, customers are then taken to the shopping cart page to finalize their purchase.

Here, customers may be thrown off by the final price at the top. Instead of the $11.99 price advertised for “empirestartsnow.com,” the price now says $21.99. But the page is quick to clarify that this is the price for two years. Customers must choose “1 year” from the dropdown below if they want that initial price.

They also offer a quantity break with a small discount if customers choose to buy the domain for three years or longer. This illustrates how important it is to offer quantity break discounts at the point of sale (POS) to maximize LTV and profits. This is a practice we always encourage if you want to boost sales significantly.

At the same time, the rest of the page is very simple and neat. It encourages the customer to follow through on their purchase without simply abandoning the cart.

We’d like to take note of how GoDaddy makes use of that auto-select of the two-year option. This is something we practice at Ecommerce Empire Builders. We also encourage the use of best-seller highlights and quantity break discounts on our order forms. Implementing this strategy here alone can make a customer worth more than a day’s worth of ad spend.

Below these quantity break discounts, GoDaddy also includes an order bump to easily add domain privacy for $5.99 per year with one click.

Use GoDaddy’s Strategies to Your Advantage to Maximize LTV

happy customer purchasing add-ons and upsells

As you can see, GoDaddy certainly seems to know what it’s doing to attract customers and maximize profits. While GoDaddy might lose money with domain sales, all of these pre- and post-purchase upsells, along with other order bumps and quantity break discounts, go a long way in helping GoDaddy remain on top of its game. Applying these strategies to your dropshipping business can be invaluable in helping you grow and maximize LTV.

3 Things All Winning Ecommerce Products Have in Common

High-earning, winning ecommerce products aren’t the only secret to success, but you can’t build your business without them. When you’re starting out with a dropshipping business and just getting into ecommerce, you’re probably wondering what specifically makes a winning product successful. Start by identifying the elements of a successful product, then determine if a particular product is actually worth your time and effort. The following are some of the common denominators of winning products that break seven figures.

1. The Product Solves a Specific Problem

When choosing winning ecommerce products to sell through your dropshipping business, it’s important to identify a specific problem that each product helps solve. What pain points are your customers facing? How can your product help ease that pain? Consider whether the product:

Saves Time

Time is a valuable asset that many people treasure, as you’ve probably heard summed up frequently in the phrase “time is money.” If you can show how your product can help save time, this could go a long way in increasing conversions.

Saves Money

In addition to time, people want to save more money. Show how your product can save money through price comparisons with competitors and offers that are uniquely yours, along with how your product can eliminate the need for other purchases.

Provides Status

Consider big, glamorous brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci. People aren’t buying their products because of their functionality as much as the status that brand affiliation brings. If you can show how your products provide status — if you can make your customers feel like they’re part of an elite group and can show their purchase off — you can further increase sales.

Provides Relief

Winning ecommerce products also provide some type of relief for customers. This isn’t necessarily applicable to every product out there. But some products may be able to make people’s lives easier in some way, whether it’s increased comfort, peace of mind, or efficiency.

Falls Under a Specific Passion Niche

Some of the most successful products also sit within a particular passion niche. Many hobbies succeed independently of the status of the economy.

2. There’s a Unique, Wow, or Cool Factor

man happily opening a delivered package

Winning ecommerce products also come with some kind of “wow” or “cool” factor that helps them stand apart from the competition. You want to inspire people to buy your product, so making it look irresistible is the key to getting more people to make a purchase.

If you want to create this factor for your products, you need to make sure the product:

  • Piques people’s curiosity
  • Is for a mass niche, i.e., a broad niche that many people are interested in
  • Is an impulse purchase, meaning people will want to buy it without giving it much thought
  • Isn’t readily available in stores
  • Simply makes people think, “I’ve got to have this!”

3. The Product Is an Evergreen or Trending Offer

Holiday shopper looking for trendy offers and niche products

A good product also comes with one of two types of product offers: evergreen or trending.

Evergreen Offers

Evergreen offers are products that are found in stores, making it easy for customers to find them. They’re also within a passion niche, such as a hobby that people regularly enjoy. Multiple sellers also sell evergreen products on Amazon, which indicates that there’s a market out there for them.

Customers may or may not have purchased evergreen products in the past. In any case, you will need to provide some incentive for customers to buy from you.

Example of an Evergreen Offer

An example of an evergreen offer could be a drawing glove that provides some comfort while the user draws or sketches. Let’s analyze this product:

  • It’s in the passion niche of drawing/sketching, which is always attracting consumers.
  • It’s sold on Amazon.
  • It provides relief by easing the sketching and drawing process and preventing smudging.
  • It saves both time and money by making the drawing and sketching process more efficient.

All of these factors make this extremely likely to be one of the winning ecommerce products in your business.

Trending Offers

Unlike evergreen products, trending offers don’t sell in stores. They’re almost exclusively online. They also tend to fall under a mass niche instead of a passion niche because they appeal to a large number of consumers. While they may not be readily available in stores, they are also not easy to find on Amazon when shopping online.

Customers likely haven’t purchased these items before, either, and they’re mostly sold on a seasonal basis or around major holidays. For example, you might only sell pool accessories during the summer months, while certain festive decorative items might only be appropriate around Christmas.

Oftentimes, it’s best to make trending offers an upsell for a core product, as the trend will likely die off at some point.

Examples of Trending Offers

screen grab of analyzing the positive attributes of drawing gloves as a winning ecommerce product

One example of a trending offer is a pair of cool-looking polarized glasses, which:

  • Is suitable for a number of activities, making it usable in a variety of passion niches
  • Sells on Amazon
  • Provides status because of its unique design, which helps it stand apart from the competition

Another example is a phone magnet car mount, which allows users to mount their phones to their vehicles’ dashboards. This product:

  • Falls under a mass-market niche, not a passion niche. (However, it may be best to avoid this product for dropshipping, since the competition will be stiff.)
  • Isn’t currently on Amazon, but will appear on the platform at some point
  • Comes with that wow/cool/unique factor that makes it ripe for impulse purchases

Implementing each of these factors in your dropshipping business will help you successfully sell your products and beat the competition. It can be a challenge to pinpoint the precise niche to target and prove what makes your products more valuable than competitor products. But you’ll be able to determine what makes your product a winner if you take the time to identify all of the strengths worth promoting.

We recommend creating a list of product attributes, including details about how your product can save time and money, provide relief, provide status, and the specific profitable mass or passion niches in which your product can excel. This will help you choose the perfect products for your dropshipping business.

Generate $300 a Day With a Five-Page Dropshipping Funnel

Empire builders, are you ready to take your ecommerce business to the next level? Today, I’m going to let you on all the best-kept secrets of building profitable dropshipping funnels. Through our Business in a Box program, I recently created a five-page dropshipping funnel that went from $0 to $100 in sales on its very first day. Within five days, this same funnel was generating over $300 in sales each day. Read on to learn how you can create your own profitable dropshipping funnel in 2020.

5 Steps to Creating a Profitable Dropshipping Store

You’ve seen others find success in the ecommerce industry, and you want to experience that same type of success for yourself. By following the five steps below, you will be well on your way to generating over $300 a day with your own dropshipping funnel in 2020.

1. Find a Passion Niche

The first step in creating a profitable dropshipping store in 2020 is to select a passion niche. People put money into their passions, so you need to find a niche that many people have already been doing and will continue to do. If you’re having trouble coming up with an idea, head on over to Wikipedia and search hobbies. This search will generate a list of thousands of hobbies that people have historically enjoyed.

I recommend choosing a hobby that you enjoy, as well. By no means do you have to choose a hobby that you are passionate about yourself. However, building and growing your business will be a lot more enjoyable if you enjoy the niche you’re going into.

2. Create an Irresistible Offer

After choosing a niche for your dropshipping store, it’s time to come up with an irresistible offer. Your offer is actually the most important part of your entire business. Your offer has to be compelling and enticing. Customers need a reason to buy from you instead of from Amazon or Walmart. The offer will always be the most crucial piece of the pie when it comes to creating a profitable dropshipping store.

To make an enticing offer, I like to pair one physical product with two digital products. This strategy is a way to set yourself apart from the competition. Without implementing this strategy, you’re just competing on price. Competing on price is simply just a race to the bottom. You have to give your customer something enticing other than just a product available at the lowest price possible.

3.  Build Out Your Five-Page Dropshipping Funnel

After coming up with an irresistible offer, it’s time to build out your funnel. At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we build all of our dropshipping funnels through the ClickFunnels software. We have found great success for ourselves and our clients with this platform and recommend that you use it, as well.

On ClickFunnels, there are a ton of different funnel option templates to choose from or build from scratch. On the funnel that generated over $300 a day in just five days, we used a simple five-page dropshipping funnel

First Page — Front End Offer

screen grab of explaining why collecting emails is an essential part of the five-page dropshipping funnel

The first page of your funnel is where your front end offer is displayed. Your front end offer is what you focus your ads on. This is also the page where you collect emails of the customers to build your email list. This step is crucial for capitalizing on your leads.

Second Page — Order Bump

The second page of the funnel is an order bump option. This is where you present the customer with the opportunity to buy more of the front end offer.

Third Page — Upsell Offer #1

The third page of the funnel is where you present your first upsell offer. This is where you offer customers the opportunity to buy a premium product related to your front end offer.

Fourth Page -Upsell Offer #2

The fourth page of the funnel is exactly the same as the third page of the funnel. You are simply offering another product as an upsell offer that is somehow related to the front end offer.

Fifth Page — Subscription Offer

The fifth page of the funnel is where you try to entice customers to opt-in to a subscription service that relates to the front end offer.

Everyone in the ecommerce industry needs to be offering these order bumps and upsell offers on their funnels. They are easy ways to increase the average cart values of your customers. You are doing yourself and your business a disservice when you neglect this aspect of your funnel.

4. Drive Traffic to the Funnel

baking hobbyist looking at ads on her phone

After your funnel is built out, you need to start driving traffic to your funnel. Everything up until now has been the “easy” part of creating a profitable dropshipping store. Driving traffic to your funnel will be where the real challenges come into play.

Running Facebook ads is the simplest way to go when trying to drive traffic to your store, but you can use Instagram influencers, too (and I show you how to do it here). You will need to do tons of market research to get this element of the funnel just right. We typically like to spend between $20 to $30 a day on our initial Facebook ads. With these initial ads, we try to run three different ad sets for seven days. It would be best if you had a variation in your ads — variety will ultimately attract customers. Success won’t happen overnight, so be patient with running your ads.

5. Interpret Funnel Data

As you’re running your first ad set for those initial seven days, collect as much data as possible. Take note of your average cart value and opt-in rates. You can then use this data to make micro tweaks in your funnel to optimize it to its full potential. Continually collecting and interpreting your funnel data will enable you to make the right tweaks to make your five-page dropshipping funnel as profitable as possible.

Clickfunnels or Shopify: Should You Build a Sales Funnel or a Store in 2020?

If you own a dropshipping business, every detail matters. You may be wondering whether it’s best to use Clickfunnels or Shopify. In other words, you’re contemplating whether to build a sales funnel or build a whole store. You might even be tempted to try both. But don’t overcomplicate your ecommerce empire — I recommend the sales funnel. Let’s discuss why.

Don’t Build an Online Store with Too Many Options

What’s one of the problems with relying on stores like Shopify alone? It’s difficult to make a profit on cold traffic from basic ad campaigns. For example, you might be selling a pet product and lure people to your store with ads. When people get onto your landing page, they’re likely to encounter multiple sizing and color options for the product. The problem with offering too many options without any instructive advice on what to get is that the customer may have too many questions. Remember, confused customers never buy.

screen grab of a confusing online store with too many shopping options

Take our pet product example again. It could be a chew toy that’s available in small or large sizes, but the customer may consider one size to be too inconvenient to carry with them to the dog park. At the same time, the other is possibly too small for larger dogs. Giving customers too much of a headache around the buying decision can lead them to simply turn away from your store

As the owner of a Shopify store, you may see this activity in the form of plenty of “at the cart” statuses that end right there. We’ll discuss this more later.

Another potential issue is that prospects may see too many suggested products that don’t seem relevant to the product they’re currently viewing. That confusion alone can lead to mistrust — and, again, they’ll leave your store without making a purchase.

The key is narrowing down your focus on specific products and mastering that category. Whether you prefer Clickfunnels or Shopify, focus is essential.

What Should You Do Instead? Choose a Single Profitable Niche

A big mistake that many Shopify store owners make is adding too many products to their store. Then the store doesn’t seem to have a clear focus and merely exists to generate sales for random products. It’s best to spend your energy on a particular niche. Start learning the ins and outs of it, and focus on creating offers that fit within that niche. You can even focus on selling just a single product for your whole business (which I dive into here).

Shopping Carts Can Let Customers Leave Your Store

frustrated customer who is shopping at a poorly designed online store

As we mentioned, a general store with products offering too many options could lead many people to add products to their cart. But the process of actually making a purchase could also be too daunting.

For instance, customers might have to choose specific options for a product before even adding it to their cart. That’s a barrier. Even once they finally click that button and move on to the next screen, they land on the cart page. Many people don’t like cart pages, and that means they reduce the odds of people making a purchase through cold traffic.

At the cart page, the customer may begin to experience what’s known as buyer’s remorse. In the process, they may regret their decision when faced with the total cost. Maybe they’ll remove multiple items from the cart. Maybe they’ll decide to leave altogether. This reason alone is why the average Shopify store has a conversion rate of under two percent. When you’re choosing between Clickfunnels or Shopify, Shopify is a little underwhelming for sellers and overwhelming for buyers.

Even if the customer gets past the cart page, they’re then faced with a third page to complete the checkout process. Checking out also involves entering shipping and billing information, resulting in more unnecessary clicks that draw out the buying process. By that point, there is a myriad of holes in the funnel that makes it clear why so many people leave the store without buying.

While Shopify can still help you earn the profits you want, the key is selling smart. Keep in mind that many people who visit your store are just visiting you for the first time. They don’t know if they can trust the merchant or their products at this point, which can give them some doubts that lead them to the door without spending a dollar.

Why You Need an Effective Sales Funnel in Place

For cold traffic, you should always have a sales funnel that helps improve conversion with a proven process. Clickfunnels can help.

What first happens with a sales funnel for cold traffic is this:

When a person clicks on your ad, he or she will be redirected to what you may refer to as a squeeze page. This is also called a landing page or a sales page. The point of these pages is to highlight one particular product and show why your product is worth buying. You may include benefits, features, testimonials, reviews, and other information that convinces the customer that the product is right for them before simply leading them to your store.

After the customer has had a chance to review the page and the product it’s advertising, you can ask them to simply provide their email address to begin buying the product. At this point, in lieu of a traditional checkout page, you would lead the customer to an order form that’s simple and to the point. Without all the complexities of a general Shopify cart and that opportunity to experience buyer’s remorse, the customer will be more engaged and be more likely to make a purchase.

An effective sales page boosts the perceived value of your product among your audience. You’ll have a much better chance of increasing sales for that product.

Our “1, 2, 4, 6, 8” Philosophy

screen grab of an order form to highlight the choice between Clickfunnels or Shopify

There’s even a great strategy to increase sales for a product in the sales funnel through your order form/ It’s what we call the “1, 2, 4, 6, 8.” This entails listing various quantities of the product in a dropdown going from one to eight by an increment of two, which highlights how much they can save if they order multiple quantities of a product at once. Showing a person how to get the best value is more likely to get them to buy more of your product in a single sale. In turn, this can give you more money to spend on ads for that product and expand your reach through reinvestment in your business.

You can further boost sales by leading customers to an upsell page after the initial purchase with a discount. This can encourage people to buy even more with the understanding that they’ll continue to save. If you can show the value of your products and the purchase, you can include as many upsells as you want without worrying about the customer simply leaving — we recommend using around three to four, but feel free to experiment.

Using Both Clickfunnels and Shopify

In the end, it’s best to have a Clickfunnels sales funnel at the front end of the sales process. By using a sales funnel, you can build a list of nonbuyers and prospective customers. Then, you can sell them premium versions of your products. At the same time, you could have a simple niche-specific Shopify store that you use to sell a premium-priced product to existing customers or ones who are more likely to buy. This is generally a better strategy than relying on sales through cold traffic.

Take all of these aspects into consideration when choosing between Clickfunnels or Shopify.

How to Set Up a Profitable One Product Dropshipping Store

Empire builders, have you been in the ecommerce industry for a while now without making any serious traction? Well, I am about the let you in on a little secret. The reason you’re not making the sales you want to be is that you’re overcomplicating the process. The most profitable ecommerce businesses are simple products or ideas framed as incredible offers. Check out how you can take your own ecommerce endeavors to the next level by setting up a simple one product dropshipping store with ClickFunnels. It’s time to take a chance on yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

Benefits of a Simple Two-Step Order Form for Your One Product Dropshipping Store

So many aspiring ecommerce entrepreneurs fail because they try to overcomplicate the selling process. The number one rule in marketing is: a confused mind never buys. You have to create a simple and straightforward offer for your customer.

The easiest way to create a simple offer is through a one product dropshipping store with ClickFunnels. This type of funnel allows you to generate the most revenue for your business while providing your customer with the best experience possible.

I like to keep business simple, and ClickFunnels allows me to do just that. ClickFunnels gives me access to all the software I need to create and run a successful ecommerce store. In my YouTube video’s description, I set up a link to a sample template so you can see what ClickFunnels is all about. The template provided is a simple two-step order form funnel. With ClickFunnels, there are a ton of different funnel options you can go with. Personally, I prefer the two-step order form, and I encourage everyone, especially beginners, to go with the two-step order form option, too.

Setting Up Your Two-Step Order Form Funnel

screen grab of an order form on ClickFunnels

When I think about creating a new one product dropshipping store, I like to think of it as one offer rather than one product. The offer you come up with has to be unique. You have to give customers a reason to buy from you rather than from Amazon or Walmart.

Setting up your two-step funnel with ClickFunnels is relatively simple. You really only need two things to create a profitable order form. The first is a nice image of the product. You need to showcase your product and give your customer a reason to want it. Therefore, only a premium image with suffice.

The second element you need to focus on when setting up your funnel is speaking to the customer. You have to highlight how the product you’re offering with benefit the customer in one way or another. Every product can solve a problem. You must showcase what problem your product will solve. It’s very simple: highlight the key benefit of the product. This will have customers seeing your offer as something with high perceived value.

Why You Need to Use ClickFunnels

screen grab of the last steps for creating product offers on ClickFunnels

Funnels are designed to make you as much money as possible with your offer. If you like money, you need to be using ClickFunnels. Using ClickFunnels lets you create your business in a way that is as simple as possible.

Two-Step Order Form Breakdown

This is the breakdown of a two-step order form funnel. First, a customer lands on your funnel from a Facebook ad, Instagram ads (which I break down here), or other means of advertisement. They are then asked to enter their email address and shipping information the moment they enter your funnel to claim their offer. They then claim the offer and select the product quantity they desire. You can then present an upsell offer. Think of it as a toss-in item to bump up your total revenue. The customer either accepts or declines the upsell offer, and they are then taken to the order confirmation page. That’s it — that’s the whole process with a two-step order form funnel.

The two-step order form funnel is simple in a way that presents customers with an offer with no confusion. There are no pages or products to get sidetracked by. Customers are given a straightforward offer with no way to get lost or confused. Your goal is to present one product as an irresistible offer. The offer is framed in a straightforward way that lets the customer know how they will benefit from taking the leap and purchasing your product. A confused mind never buys, so you have to present a simple offer to your customers if you want to be successful in ecommerce.

Conversion Rates on ClickFunnels

happy customers looking at a persuasive product offer online

ClickFunnels convert at a rate of 10-15%. Shopify stores only convert at a rate of 1.3%. This discrepancy occurs because Shopify stores overcomplicate the selling process. With Shopify, customers are not presented with a straightforward offer. They look at all the products the store has to offer, get overwhelmed with all the choices, and end up just leaving the store altogether. This is no way to run a business. You simply can’t get the same results with Shopify as you can with ClickFunnels.

Ultimately, you can sell whatever product or services you want in a funnel. The options are truly endless. ClickFunnels provides you a simple process that allows your store to be up and running quickly. It provides you access to premium software that will enable you to easily make a clean looking sales funnel on both desktop and mobile. ClickFunnels keeps it simple like no other selling platform out there can. If you want to make more money in ecommerce, you need to set up your own simple two-step order form with ClickFunnels today.

Dropshipping Business Case Study: How to Make $300 in Sales by Day 5

Empire builders, are you ready to launch a brand-new dropshipping funnel? We can help you create your own profitable dropshipping store today. We have launched brand-new stores that went from $0 to $100 on their first day. Then, the store reached $300 a day in sales within their first five days. Want to see the results for yourself? Check out these case study findings and watch my video below to set yourself up to make $300 a day with your brand new dropshipping business!

Your Business in a Box

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we have a program called Business in a Box. In this program, we build you your very own dropshipping store. We create your business from start to finish. However, if you’re looking to create your dropshipping store from scratch, I’m about to drop some serious knowledge bombs for you.

Check out the steps we follow at Ecommerce Empire Builders to create profitable dropshipping stores in record time.

Step 1: Figure Out Your Niche

screen grab of suggestion that businesses find a hobby or passion niche

The first step is to figure out your dropshipping niche. You have to have a niche that you — or shoppers — care about. Remember, you don’t have to be personally passionate about this particular niche, but it helps if a large chunk of the population is. People spend money on their passions. With people spending more time at home these days, they are pouring more money into their passions.

If you’re not sure where to start, hop on over to Wikipedia. Search the word hobby on Wikipedia, and the site will provide a list of hundreds of hobbies that people are into. This is the market research you need to do upfront before you start your Ecommerce store.

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we do a ridiculous amount of market research before even thinking about creating a new dropshipping funnel or store. Make sure to do thorough market research on the physical products you want to sell in your niche. Also, keep in mind that your business will be more enjoyable in the long run if you choose a niche that you find personal enjoyment from as well.

If you want to dive into product research, follow our guide (and learn about seven profitable market areas) here.

Step 2: Figure Out Your Offers

screen grab of our front-end offers strategy

The next step is to figure out your offers. This is the most important piece of the pie when it comes to creating your new dropshipping store. A common mistake among new dropshippers is that they hurry to build their new funnel or website — without doing market research and figuring out how to set up prime offers.

Building your website is not essential right away; you must research and create a marketing strategy before anything else. What you need to understand about offers when getting started with dropshipping is that there are multiple types of offers inside a business that you must utilize to make your store profitable from day one.

Front-end offers are what your dropshipping business is centered around.

The front-end offers are the products you are running ads on, whether they are Facebook ads or YouTube ads. This is where you run the “50% off” ads or “buy two, get one free” type of ads. You want your ads to be enticing to your potential customers. These ads are the first interaction you have with customers, so you have to get your marketing strategy right.

You must over-deliver to your customer and create an experience for them that has them returning to your store again and again. At Ecommerce Empire Builders, our strategy for profitable front-end offers is to pair a physical product with a couple of digital or information products.

Outperform Your Competition

Why do we do this?

The simple answer is that it sets us apart from our competition. You never want to compete on price. When you do this, it’s just a race to the bottom. What you want to do is compete on customer experience. This is where digital or information products come into play.

Digital and information products are where you can beat your competition every time. Take this as an example:

You are selling fishing lures. This is your physical product. To set yourself apart from your competitors who are also selling fishing lures, you pair this product with a digital quick start guide on using fishing lures, as well as a digital guide on how to use different fishing lures depending on the weather.

This is the winning formula that sets you apart in a space that already has so much noise. Your first sale is always the hardest. But you build momentum by creating a unique front-end offer keeps customers coming back for more. Most dropshippers end up failing because they only focus on selling a single product — the physical product.

Step 3: Utilize Order Bumps

Once you create a winning front-end offer, you need to utilize order bumps on your dropshipping store. Using order bumps is an easy way to increase the average amount of money a customer spends with you.

Simple order bumps are offers like expedited shipping, limited edition products, product warranty, or gift cards. You never need to overcomplicate the process. If you’re selling toothbrushes, then a simple order bump would be to offer customers the chance to pair it with toothpaste.

Simple strategies like order bumps set your business apart from the competitors.

Step 4: Create Two Upsell Options

After creating order bump options, the next step is to create two upsell options.

This simply means that you either present the customers with offers of more of the same product or an offer to a premium product. You want to keep offering customers a better and better deal. You want to create an enticing offer that a customer simply cannot pass up.

Step 5: Implement Subscription Services

screen grab of business dashboard highlighting growth in sales

The final step in creating your dropshipping business is to implement a subscription service. Creating an enticing subscription service for customers generates monthly income for yourself.

This is the hardest sell, but by over-delivering to customers early, you gain their loyalty. Customers that have a pleasant experience with your dropshipping site will be more likely to buy a monthly subscription to receive more of your products.
