The Four Things You Need to Make $5,000 a Month in Online Sales

We’ve seen some of our Ecommerce Empire Builder students hit some amazing monthly totals with online sales. Some have hit $10,000, others have hit $50,000, and some have even hit seven figures.

If you’re thinking about getting started with online sales or have already started and are stagnating, you’re probably wondering how you can get to those profit levels.

Luckily, there’s a system for you to get there.

We’ve had four of our students in our seven-figure club prove that while the group is hanging in rarified air, it’s an attainable goal. We’ve had even more people — 29 — hit $50,000 in a month. Also, 50 people have hit our $10,000 per month club.

So how did they do it? What steps did they take to get to that level of success?

The Four Quadrants

Look, I get it. $5,000 a month can seem like an intimidating number for a lot of people. The truth is, everyone who began their eCommerce journey had a moment at the beginning where they wondered whether or not they could make a living from this.

But it can be done — and there’s proof.

Screen grab of Peter Pru recommending viewers watch student success story videos

My YouTube channel features lots of testimonials from members who have crossed the $10k, $50k, and seven-figure thresholds. These are people who followed our program, put in the work, and have seen the results.

Watch these videos and listen to their stories (and share some love by liking/commenting while you’re there!). These are our students inside our eCommerce Empire Academy, so there is a lot to learn from them.

When it comes to our students who hit the $10,000 per month club, how did they do it? How are so many people successful at this level — and why are so many people NOT successful?

Our success stories come from a variety of business types and industries, but they all had at least one thing in common: they’ve mastered the four quadrants.

These are the four things every business must identify to be successful. The quadrants are composed of:

  1. Niche
  2. Offer
  3. Funnel
  4. Traffic

Let’s take a look at each one.

1. Niche

Online business owners assessing new strategies for online sales and marketing

Without a doubt, this is the most important component of building your online sales business. Of course, having a great product is critical here, but it’s not enough.

Before you have a winning product, you need to know your niche and understand, “Who am I selling it to?”

Start with the people who have a problem that you and your product can solve. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who is my target audience?
  • What are they already buying?
  • How can we sell them something they’re already buying, but this time, they buy from us?

The best way to identify a niche is to stay in the realm of passions and hobbies. These are tried and true areas, neither of which is going away any time soon.

Trendy, viral fads can make short-term money, but they often dwindle and die.

Pursuing passions and hobbies, which are typically long-standing niches, is a better way to set yourself up for long-term, lasting success.

2. Offer

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing how to make more valuable offers

Next, you have to identify your product, which represents your offer. This one is simple (but not easy). What are you offering your target audience in your specific niche? What product are they buying from you, and what reason can you give them to buy from you over your competitors?

That’s the most crucial question to ask in establishing your offer. What differentiates you from everyone else?

The term “secret sauce” is a cliche at this point, but it’s often used for a reason. It represents what one company has that another doesn’t. So what’s your offering’s secret sauce?

When you explain what your offer includes that the competition doesn’t, you shouldn’t focus on price. Basing your offer on price is a race to the bottom. Unfortunately, that’s what you get on Amazon, and it’s no way to run a business.

What you want to do is work backward. Craft offers from products your audience members are already buying. The easiest way to do this is to offer a bundle of digital products. For example: let’s say you sell a fly fishing rod. You can also include an eBook or video tutorial on fly fishing.

These kinds of product packages offer added value to your customer that they can’t find elsewhere. It shows you care about their specific needs; you care about the people at the other end of the transaction.

They can’t get an irresistible offer like that from Amazon.

If finding your niche is the most important part, crafting your irresistible offer is the hardest. After that, it all gets much easier, and people will find a way to give you money.

3. Funnel

Once you have your niche and your offer, you’re ready to build your funnel (i.e., a Clickfunnels or Shopify store). People often put this first because it’s tangible, whereas your niche and your offer are not.

You can’t skip the steps, however. If your niche and offer are in place, and you’ve done the necessary research, the funnel building part is easy.

It involves copywriting, crafting offers, and figuring out how to connect your audience to your offer. There are many training and templates available for you to help you do this

4. Traffic

Finally, the last quadrant is traffic. The strategy and tactics you use to build traffic streams will depend on your budget.

You can go with influencer marketing, where you reach out to someone with an existing social media following. You give them money and creative materials (scripts, copy, etc.). Then they give you a shout-out on their popular channels, helping you make online sales.

This is the best strategy if you are on a tight budget.

If you have more to spend, you can go with a paid advertising strategy, targeting platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Google. This requires a higher budget because it’s expensive. But remember, your advertising is only as effective as the data about your buyers that you can give these platforms.

The best answer is to mix in a little of both. Ads and influencer marketing that work together can be a powerful combination.

Joining Ecommerce Empire Builders: How One Dropshipper Went From $0 to $10,000

In this review, we’re going to breakdown the success that Will Jackson experienced with his dropshipping business after joining Ecommerce Empire Builders. As one of our $10k Club members, he managed to skyrocket from zero to $10,000 with the help of Clickfunnels and an overall winning strategy. Here we’ll review Will’s experience, goals, and the ways in which he intends to further scale his business.

Jumping Straight Into Sales Funnels and Finding a Niche

Will’s dropshipping journey began around three years ago. He quit his job and decided to start his own online business, with minimal experience in marketing. Unlike many who start out in this arena, Will looked into sales funnels instead of setting up a Shopify store or using another eCommerce platform. In the process of determining what he should sell, Will discovered dropshipping and connected with a local dropshipper. Based on what he saw that dropshipper doing, Will started his first attempt at dropshipping.

Early on, Will began by posting his products on Facebook and hoping that he would generate sales in this way. But he understood that he needed to do more. His biggest issue was directing his focus on one area. He tried out a new idea every week to determine what worked and what didn’t, hooked on the rush of searching for that next big opportunity. However, he found that this strategy wasn’t getting the results he’d hoped for. So Will took a new approach that entailed signing up for a course during his off time at a new job.

Seeing Growth Through Graphic Design

Screengrab of Peter Pru and WIll Jackson discussing his first graphic design sale

Will wound up building a sales funnel in the niche he’s currently in. But he decided he had to focus on the effort full-time. After quitting his second job, he tried his hand at other jobs like coaching until a friend making seven figures through dropshipping requested Will’s help in building a Shopify store. From there, Will mapped out his next plan to build his own Shopify store. He was able to set it up with several products he’d gathered during his other work, including designs from his job in print-on-demand services.

Eventually, Will made his first sale with an ad for a PNG file he’d simply had saved on his computer. He realized that he had landed on a truly lucrative opportunity. Then his biggest success — which landed him in our $10k Club — came when he sold a Christmas design that he had made. This design quickly went from making nothing to pulling in upwards of $3,000 per day.

To help fuel his success, Will eventually stuck to a specific niche that he’s still in, catering to a specific audience. See how joining Ecommerce Empire Builders can help you find your own niche.

How Will Gets His Ideas for Design Products

As Will’s business developed, he began getting additional ideas from a website called Sorting Social. This tool sorts the most-pinned posts from Pinterest about nearly any topic imaginable. For instance, if you search for “dog T-shirts” on Sorting Social, you’ll be able to see a list of the most popular designs. From there, Will outsources his graphic design services to another graphic designer. The designer reengineers the top-ranking designs to be unique and sellable. For additional ideas, Will also uses eRank, which ranks the top-selling items on Etsy.

It’s worth emphasizing that while Will gets ideas from other existing designs, he sells original designs. Redesigning them to be his own is key to avoiding plagiarism accusations and potential legal issues.

Maximizing the Average Cart Value With Successful Upsells

To further fuel his dropshipping success, Will also includes a variety of upsells. These increase the average value of his carts. His upsell sequence works like this:

  1.  He begins with an order bump for mugs that feature the same design as the original purchase
  2. These offers are followed by hoodies and similar items based on the original design.

He now uses Clickfunnels to help put these funnels together. In addition, he uses Funnelish for Clickfunnels. Although he has yet to see how recently implemented upsells will increase his maximum cart value, he currently sells the initial designs for around $50.

Eyeing His First Million

After joining Ecommerce Empire Builders and experiencing an impressive level of success with his current setup, Will’s end game is to make his first million in sales by the end of the year. To drive that success, he’s already created his “vision board” to help him reach that goal. He also created a “Two Comma Club” mock award that could very well see an authentic replacement in a year’s time. Will also aspires to be Number 1 in his niche. He plans on accomplishing this by focusing more on quality than his top competitor and reaping those returns with a worthwhile investment.

To back his business and make those goals attainable, Will has a team behind him that he intends to grow. To start with, he currently has two designers, and he’s currently seeking a virtual assistant. His primary traffic also comes from Facebook Ads campaigns. But he plans to get involved in influencer marketing, which is huge in his print-on-demand niche.

Will’s Advice for Succeeding in Your Niche

Screengrab of Peter Pru and WIll Jackson talking

Based on his experience in dropshipping, Will recommends that people start with lots of research. He recommends these steps:

  1. Find out what others are doing in your ideal niche.
  2. Track their success.
  3. Determine how you can differentiate yourself from the competition, whether through improved product quality or an improved sales funnel.

Additionally, Will recommends sticking to it and not giving up when things appear rough, as things are likely to smooth out as you learn and grow. As much as you might want everything to be perfect from the start, it’s best to start putting yourself out there and gradually improving over time. If you spend too much time perfecting your funnel, ads, and other content, you’ll only be losing out on opportunities to start selling.

Finally, Will also suggests that you adhere to your Daily Six, or a daily routine that involves self-care. Joining Ecommerce Empire Builders and structuring your day for success will boost your productivity. Your business may be important to you. But it won’t succeed unless the person running it (i.e., you) is in the right frame of mind. Whether your morning routine consists of jogging, meditating, reading, or another refreshing hobby, taking time for yourself first is crucial for clearing your mind. It can also drive your continued success.

Roasts and Ranks: Develop Your Dropshipping Niche Like This $50k Sticker Store

In this episode of our series Roasts and Ranks, we’ll be reviewing an online sticker store to see what they’re doing right and what they could be doing better. This follows the same format as the rest of our series, which scores businesses on a scale of 1 to 10, from worst to best, based on how they perform in four different categories, including the dropshipping niche, offers, funnel, and traffic.

If you would like us to feature your business in our Roasts and Ranks series and gain access to the leaderboard, you can easily submit your funnel or store on our website. Regardless of how you perform, we’ll send you $100 to your PayPal if we review your business.

This particular store we looked at is a sticker store called Eagle Realm, which is run by one of our $50k Club students.

A Clearly Defined Dropshipping Niche

One of the most important things for any ecommerce store to have is a specific dropshipping niche that makes it clear what they’re about. Otherwise, people are likely to leave if they don’t connect with any particular dropshipping niche. Put simply, if you’re trying to appeal to everyone, you’ll ultimately be appealing to no one. Thankfully, Eagle Realm gets this right from the start with its target niche, which caters to a patriotic aesthetic that’s sure to attract a specific target market.

The homepage has a header “Owned & Operated by American Patriots” over an American Flag banner. Combined with the list of flag-themed, best-selling products immediately below, we instantly know what Eagle Realm is all about. The site offers everything from American flag home decor to stickers, decals, and magnets sharing this consistent theme of national pride.

The Layout

Eagle Realm also sticks to a simple layout to avoid over-complicating anything, which is a good strategy. It prevents any confusion over navigation or too many steps. However, in addition to the basic “Home” and “Catalog” tabs at the top of the page, we’d recommend adding a “Contact Us” or “Track Your Order” page.

To really express the value of this site, we’d also suggest creating something like an “Our Story” page. This could detail what inspired this site and its overall mission. Showing pictures of the first sales and how the site got started could add a personable “behind the scenes” touch that people love to see.

Oftentimes, people may not buy directly from the main website. They might instead use it to contact the store owner. That’s why we definitely feel that this store could benefit from adding a contact page of some kind with a tab in the top navigation.

When it comes to the dropshipping niche itself, Eagle Realm very clearly earns a 10. The business knows its target audience.

A Strong Offer That Emphasizes Value

Screen grab of Peter Pru reviewing Eagle Realm's store

Generally, we felt that the business has a strong offer. The bestsellers listed at the top clearly showed some of the unique designs offered at Eagle Realm. In addition, the prices for these offers were low and likely to attract eager buyers. One small change we would recommend is making all the bestseller images the same size. This will lend some added credibility.

Another strong element that we liked was the “Proceeds Donated to Veterans” header below the initial offers. The section highlights the values behind the website. It lets visitors know that a portion of the proceeds will go to veterans in need. That message is very likely to resonate with the target audiences and encourage them to make a purchase based on those shared values.

Below that section detailing donations is a list of more best-selling products. These are the same ones featured in the first list. Another note about the images we had was that we would like to see a little more congruency with the images. As they are, they’re a bit too varied. Some images feature plants in the background, while others have a plain white background. Having the same format for all images could make things feel slightly more consistent.

To further complement the offer is a section featuring customer reviews. We believe it could benefit from even more reviews with pictures of the products in use. It’s easy to attract more reviews from customers by sending an email blast offering them incentives for leaving a review, such as discount codes toward their next order.

Overall, Eagle Realm features a rich homepage with great offers that could use a few improvements here and there.

Product Pages That Could Use Some Added Value Points

Screen grab of Peter Pru recommending changes to product pages

When looking at a specific product page for Eagle Realm’s Custom Printed American Flag Magnet, we were impressed by the overall presentation of the product. Several logical points were touched on in the product description. These include the size, materials, and other basic information that customers would likely want to know. They also had multiple lifestyle photos showing the magnet used on a fridge, placed on a truck, and by itself. This helps customers get a feel for how it would look during use.

However, we noticed a lack of customer reviews, which is vital when pushing individual products. The page was also devoid of any information about Eagle Realm’s mission or mention of proceeds. They could easily fix this by including an image similar to the banner on the homepage. This new banner could detail how proceeds would go toward veterans. Eagle Realm could have this image on all product pages and throughout the sales funnel to emphasize the company’s values.

Our Overall Rating: 7.9

There’s a lot to like about Eagle Realm, as they have a clear dropshipping niche and a clear mission that helps push the offer. But there are certain aspects that could definitely benefit from some improvements. We recommend making the mention of donations ubiquitous across all product pages. Also, they should create a separate story page to detail the company’s values and beginnings. Other changes include getting more customer reviews with visuals and adding even more direct offers to drive more sales.

Our Roasts & Ranks Review of a Clothing Dropshipping Store

So, you’ve set up your clothing dropshipping store. You added a host of fantastic products, but sales aren’t coming. If you are an optimist, you’ll probably soldier on thinking Rome wasn’t built in a day and hoping your fortunes will turn on account of the excellent products you have on offer. But if you are a pessimist, you may question the dropshipping model’s legitimacy. If you fall in either of the two categories, you’re likely not to succeed.

Let’s debunk the pessimistic theory. The dropshipping industry’s market value stood at around $ 102.2 billion in 2018. Additionally, in the period from 2019 to 2025, it is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 28.8%. There is a big market for dropshipping products. However, regardless of how positive you are, your store will not perform well unless you implement the right strategies. This is why it is crucial to learn from successful dropshippers. At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we help our subscribers scale their dropshipping businesses by reviewing, critiquing, and offering advice. In this episode of our Roasts & Ranks series, we’re reviewing NK Streetwear, a clothing dropshipping store. To provide you with actionable insight, the store will be reviewed based on the following categories:

  • First impressions
  • Whether it’s niche-specific
  • Value of the offer

1. First Impressions

Dropshipping as a business is only possible thanks to increasing digitization. However, this is also its primary challenge. There are social media platforms, websites, and other online entertainment platforms. There are also other dropshipping stores competing for the same audience, so internet users are spoilt for choice. As such, it is integral that you capture their attention immediately when they visit your page.

Peter Pru examining the landing page for NK Streetwear

The first impression is vital for a clothing dropshipping store (or any other store). With the case of NK Streetwear, the first impression is not ideal. As soon as the page loads, you’ll be met with lots of text. Having a message for your customers is good. But a wall of text should not be the first thing they see.

A general rule of thumb is to highlight products immediately. In this case, customers should see the best attire on offer by NK Streetwear at first glance. When displaying the products, it’s best to take a consumer-centered approach rather than focusing on the product alone. This means, instead of posting products on blank white backgrounds, you should use pictures of people actually using the product. For NK Streetwear, this should be people wearing hoodies and t-shirts.

Pro Tip:

If your budget allows, use an influencer to create traction for your collection and brand in general.

2. Niche Specificity

As empire builders, it’s easy to get distracted with all the possible products you can add to your store. While each product may be individually good, focus on niching down as much as possible. Instead of being a clothing brand dealing with all manners of attire, find a specific niche to target. With this, you will realize far better results.

As for NK Streetwear, the brand performs exceptionally well in this category. Their main focus is selling clothing with images of different cities in the world. Along with being a very specific niche, it is also quite unique, making it even better.

Another pitfall you should avoid is adding too many products. Whereas this may create the impression you are doing more, it does not necessarily translate to more sales. Create a small selection of exceptional products and turn your attention to marketing. After all, your objective is generating sales.

3. Value of the Offer

shopper deciding to buy products from a clothing dropshipping store

In most cases, your customers’ purchases are not influenced by necessity but rather by impulse. For them to take out their credit cards and actually make a purchase, you must offer something that they value. In this regard, you can target something that solves a specific problem or capitalizes on their interests. This should then be accompanied by good quality and fair prices.

The designs on NK Streetwear attire are undoubtedly good. They have the potential to appeal to residents of their target areas and travel enthusiasts. However, despite the fair prices charged, the clothing and materials could be better. A key element of succeeding in dropshipping is getting shoppers to come back for more products. This can only be achieved if their first purchase meets their expectations.

Another element of the value offered by NK Streetwear is its mission. Along with creating a streetwear brand with soul, a portion of their profits is channeled towards humanitarian efforts in Armenia and Artsakh. This is a great mission that undoubtedly adds to the value of their products.

Standing for such a cause adds value to your products. However, your mission should not be your primary selling point. The mission should not catalyze the purchase — it should validate it. After purchasing, customers will feel good that they have helped in some way.

Rating of This Clothing Dropshipping Store: 3.9

Peter Pru discussing products on NK Streetwear, a clothing dropshipping store

NK Streetwear undoubtedly has a great value proposition, which makes the 3.9 rating seem a bit harsh. However, in your quest to build your dropshipping empire, remember that you need a lot more than good products to sell. Based on my first impression of their store, visitors will have no idea of the products that are on offer. This means a significant number will quickly hit the back button on their browser.

For those who make it to the product catalog, the images do not showcase the clothes in use. Also, there is a big question mark on the quality of the garments. Though the prices are fair, not many people are keen on buying clothes that will lose elements of their quality after one wash.

Get Your Store to the Next Level

Rome was not built in a day. But it did not take a lifetime, either. For your store to begin generating sales consistently, you need to implement the right strategies. Our Roasts & Ranks Review of a Potential 7-Figure Dropshipping Store

So many people request reviews from us for their dropshipping stores. So we decided to officially start our Roasts & Ranks series to do just that. In addition to reviewing dropshipping stores, we’re also using this series to rank them based on their performance.

Do you want to submit your own store and feature in our Roasts & Ranks series? You can do so by sending an email with the subject line “Roasts & Ranks Store” to Peter Pru at [email protected]. You’ll have the chance to make it into this series with a thorough review. On top of a review that explores what you’re doing right and what could benefit from improvement, you’ll also get $100 sent to your PayPal account if we choose to review and rank your store, regardless of performance.

How Roasts & Ranks Works

For each Roasts & Ranks review, we’ll be looking at four main categories to gauge how well a store is doing:

  1. First Impressions — How people will react upon first encountering the business
  2. The Niche — The types of products and categories the store sells
  3. The Offer — What differentiates the store from others and value to consumers
  4. The Funnel/Store — How the store collects assets and drives sales

Based on each store’s performance in these four categories, we’ll be giving an overall score from one to ten, with ten being the best.

The first store we’re going to be looking at here in the Roasts & Ranks series is What Feels Right, at whatfeelsright.com.

First Impressions From What Feels Right

After visiting their website for the first time, we didn’t feel that it left a good first impression. The biggest issue we had with the site was that it seemed too broad in its product scope. While certain items had a Christmas vibe to them for the holidays, such as Christmas decorations and tree ornaments, there were categories such as “Pet Collection” and “Household Collection” below that made the core category a bit too unclear.

In short, we felt that this website gave off the vibe of a generic Shopify store with nothing that really made it stand out. We believe that this store could have given a better first impression if it had a specific focus. For example, it could’ve featured a holiday-themed background and highlighted holiday-themed items toward the top of the homepage that would have spoken to a specific audience. As it stood at the time of this review, the store seemed too general and unfocused to appeal to a specific type of shopper.

We Couldn’t Nail Down a Specific Niche

The main reason behind our negative first impression was the lack of a specific, focused niche that we could identify. The site seemed all over the place in terms of inventory. It had a mix of Christmas-themed products and ornaments with the seemingly random pets and household categories below. There just didn’t appear to be a coherent structure to the store. Instead, it offered a random selection in an attempt to appeal to anyone.

We definitely felt that this store needed to stick with a particular niche. This could have worked well with the Christmas theme. For instance, they could have sold a humorous 2020 Quarantine Ornament, which was a 2020-themed ornament that referenced the pandemic featuring two characters with masks and a bottle of hand sanitizer in front of a Christmas tree. It could make for a light, funny novelty gift that could be one of their bestsellers. In addition, people could personalize it to make it their own when buying it, which added even more appeal.

Instead of a singular focus, the site opts for creating a section around Christmas ornaments. It also had subcategories that feature a variety of unrelated products ranging from pet feeders and pet hair removers to towel holders and night light projectors. It has the overall vibe of a site that’s throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. This prevents it from having any clear identity.

An Offer That’s Equally Unclear

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing the importance of images on a site

When it comes to the value that What Feels Right offers, that was also too vague. Sure, the 2020 Quarantine Ornament is a fun-looking product. It also had a multitude of customer reviews with high star ratings and positive comments. Still, we saw no images of the product in use. There was also a lack of images in the store itself featuring the item in use. We didn’t see photos of it hanging on a Christmas tree to show its size and how it looks in a real-world setting.

We always recommend that people show their products being used to demonstrate how they look and function once purchased. It’s an integral feature of a winning offer that further confirms the value the product brings. Otherwise, people are going on empty text reviews and blind faith that the product will be as good as the seller claims it is.

We were impressed with some of the specific products sold on What Feels Right. But there were ways we felt they could build on them with a richer ecommerce experience.

A Store That Feels Generally Incomplete

Screen grab of Peter Pru discussing how a lack of contact informations hurts credibility

There’s a good chance What Feels Right sold a good number of Christmas ornaments and other similarly-themed products during Q4. However, we’re always wary about focusing on seasonal products, particularly when that’s the store’s primary focus. There are plenty of other products in the store that aren’t seasonal. But they’re too random to categorize collectively and focus on.

Another issue we had with the store as a whole was its lack of navigation and overall features. We didn’t see a link in the top navigation to any kind of contact page or specific categories. We also saw no guarantees on the homepage or much else to get people engaged beyond a couple of social media links in the footer.

The website reflected a common issue we’ve noticed with many ecommerce sites. They spend too much time and effort on adding and pushing new products. The governing attitude here is that they’re one product away from a breakthrough. But the fact is that they’re one niche away. It’s not about maximizing the number of products in your inventory to connect with everyone. It’s almost exclusively about focusing on one core niche that builds a loyal following of customers within a specific audience.

There was also a distinct lack of a sales funnel on What Feels Right. Although many ecommerce business owners don’t think they have a sales funnel, the fact is that they do have one. But it’s not always efficient or developed. They rely on products to sell themselves with simple product pages. Also, there’s just a basic shopping cart that leads people to a sale.

Our Overall Rating: 4.2/10

We feel that — with What Feels Right’s current platform at the time of this review — the store deserves a 4.2 rating from Roasts & Ranks. We saw that there was a degree of effort invested in putting this store together. It had plenty of potential to become a winning ecommerce business. At the same time, there was a lack of focus regarding products and niches. Also, the structure of the site seemed lacking and undeveloped. The website also lacked an effective sales funnel, which could go a long way in driving sales and optimizing the buying process. Again, with more focus on a specific niche such as holiday-themed products and a more developed store overall, this site has the chance to thrive.

Five Easy Digital Product Niches That Can Earn You Millions

Digital products are some of the best products to sell online if you want to maximize your earning potential. But many people who try to sell these products take the wrong approach. Selling digital products is considerably different from selling other types of products. But it all comes down to the specific digital product niches you want to target.

There are many ways you can use digital products to earn more money, whether you’re running an ecommerce business or affiliate marketing site. The key to succeeding with digital products is knowing how to produce, advertise, and sell them effectively within a specific niche. This article will help you get started selling digital products and earning millions of dollars with an effective strategy. The following are some examples of easy digital product niches worth pursuing.

1. Dog Training

Screen grab of how to search Udemy for digital product ideas

One of the most lucrative opportunities to sell digital products is in the dog training niche. Take a look at the topic “dog training” on Udemy, a site containing millions of free and paid courses. You’ll see thousands of courses that show how popular this niche is.

(On a side note: Udemy doesn’t always have the best courses worth selling. But it’s a great way to validate the niche you want to target and gauge its popularity. If you see hundreds or thousands of results when searching for your niche, this indicates that there’s a huge market for it.)

If you’re thinking about starting a dog training course, Udemy can show you what courses are out there. It also shows which specific topics and subtopics people like the most. From there, you have one of two approaches you can take to selling dog courses:

  1. You can make your own from scratch.
  2. You can repurpose content that’s already out there.

Repurposing Existing Dog Training Videos for Packaged Courses

Would you rather use content that’s already been produced and is ready to market and sell in a course? If so, then we recommend heading over to YouTube. There, you can search for dog training courses around the topics you want to cover. Now, you’ll likely find many channels with videos attracting millions of viewers, but these aren’t the ones we’re looking for. Instead, try to look for prolific channels that produce a lot of content but aren’t as popular. Channels with several hundred subscribers and many videos with thousands of views each can actually provide better opportunities for you than the biggest channels.

Once you find a channel you like, you can send them a message letting them know you like their content and asking them if they’d be willing to work with you. You can then offer them a chance to package their videos in a course, which you can market and sell to your audience in exchange for a commission sent to the producer. In the dog training niche, you’ll have no trouble finding content producers putting out plenty of videos that you can repackage and sell.

Using ThePLRStore.com for Other Types of Dog Training Content

If you want to sell content other than video, you can visit ThePLRStore.com to check out ebooks, articles, landing pages, and other course materials around dog training. On this site, there are plenty of pieces of content with private label rights (PLR). That means you can purchase this content, repurpose and rebrand it, and sell it as your own product. Simply buy a package of content at an affordable price, repackage it, and resell it for a profit.

2. Cryptocurrency

Another popular yet highly specific niche is the cryptocurrency space, which also provides plenty of opportunities. You won’t find as many courses on Udemy due to the specific nature of the niche. But it’s a very worthwhile space to target.

It’s important to keep in mind here that, like in other digital product niches, you should truly be good at what you do in the niche you target. If you plan on producing courses covering various cryptocurrency topics, for instance, you should know what you’re talking about. Otherwise, find people who have that expertise that you can lend to your digital product packages.

On ThePLRStore.com, you’ll have no trouble finding myriad digital products covering a wide range of cryptocurrency topics if you want to sell ebooks or other written content.

3. Meditation

Screen grab of looking for meditation digital products on ThePLRStore

Meditation has been — and remains — one of the best niches to target, with many viable opportunities. Like with other bigger digital product niches, it’s best not to target the most general meditation topics. Why? You’ll wind up competing with some of the largest competitors out there. However, you can target good subtopics that may be less competitive, giving you a chance to attract audiences looking for those specific topics. Many people are always looking for the best meditation techniques and classes, so you should have no trouble finding an audience here.

You can target specific forms of meditation, including particular techniques. Start small with these branching topics, and as your business grows, so can your topic coverage.

4. Weight Loss

Weight loss is always a popular, evergreen niche worth going after. There are always new strategies and products available to help people lose weight. Even better, that trend isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Weight loss is especially popular today, with so many people spending more time at home and struggling to maintain a healthy diet amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Again, your success in this niche will come down to the specific subtopics you cover in your content. Focus on narrower areas like  “weight loss for parents,” “weight loss for busy professionals,” or certain nutritional tips or workouts such as Zumba.

5. TikTok Marketing

Over the last couple of years, TikTok has been making waves as one of the fastest-rising social media platforms. As a result, many businesses seek opportunities to market to young TikTok audiences, making TikTok marketing one of the hottest digital product niches to target.

Many people are looking for topics about how best to market on TikTok, how to manage their accounts, and plenty of other areas you can easily capitalize on. We recommend you prove yourself to be an expert in this niche first, gaining some recognition as an authority on TikTok marketing on social media and other platforms before you go into offering a course and other digital products. While it might take some work, this niche is quickly becoming one of the best to pursue.

How to Get Your First 1,000 YouTube Subscribers With No Experience Making Videos

Welcome back, Empire Builders! If you’re just starting out on YouTube or considering starting your own channel, you’re in luck. Today I’ll be going over how I come up with my video topics and how you can get your first 1,000 YouTube subscribers. Let’s jump right in.

Finding Your Niche

I’m sure some of you have decided to start a YouTube channel because you have a topic in mind that you love to talk about, and you want to share that passion with others. If you’re about to start an ecommerce business and want to use a YouTube channel to help drive traffic to your sales funnel, that’s a great way to both spread knowledge about a topic you like and build your audience. It’s a strategy I definitely recommend, and I’ll take you through the process I use to choose a niche and ensure it has potential.

Personally, I always start with hobby niches. Just Google a list of hobbies and go through to find one that interests you. Once you have one in mind, go to Google Trends and type in the name of the hobby. This is just to see if enough people are searching for the topic to sustain a business.

Make sure the results show that the topic has had steady traffic in the last few years. Then you can feel pretty sure that it’s not going anywhere. You don’t want to pick a fad topic that isn’t time tested. Why? Because you want to bring people to your channel, and then to your website, consistently for years to come.

How to Find Video Topic Ideas

Video Topic Ideas on YouTube

First, go to YouTube and search for your topic. See what kind of content people are consuming. When you see the top-ranking videos, don’t try to compete with people who have millions of subscribers and views (especially when you first start out). Be specific to your niche.

For example, if you picked pottery as your core focus, type “how to make pottery” into YouTube. That topic is still too broad, so add a space after it and see the suggestions it brings up.

You’ll see things like “how to make pottery at home without electricity” and “how to make pottery glaze from scratch.” You could even go a step further by picking one of those subtopics and adding a space again to check the suggestions; keep narrowing in on a very specific topic. Those suggestions tell you what people are searching for. If the results don’t have any videos with that exact title, yours would come up first. With enough unique and valuable videos, you’ll be well on your way to getting your first 1,000 YouTube subscribers.

Video Topic Ideas on AnswerThePublic.com

Screen grab of researching topics on AnswerThePublic.com

Next, go to AnswerThePublic.com, which is a resource for finding what people are searching for. Once again, type in your topic. You’ll get two or three free searches a day, or you can upgrade to the premium version. When you type in your topic, the results will come up on a display wheel.

I prefer “how-to” video topics as those will be relevant for years, long after you get your first 1,000 YouTube subscribers. You could potentially get views every day and drive business to your website. The point is to make the videos an asset to your business, so make evergreen content and always include a call to action. Many people quit before they give it enough time to be successful. If you make consistent content and release two or three videos a week — and really stick with it until it’s successful — you will see both your channel and your business grow.

How to Optimize Content to Get Your First 1,000 YouTube Subscribers (And More)

Screengrab of adding keywords to YouTube videos

At Ecommerce Empire Builders, we use a paid tool called VidIQ. I highly recommend it. This tool will tell you what keywords are best suited for your content. When you create a video, VidIQ will suggest keywords as tags for your video. Always make sure that the title of your video appears somewhere in the description, as well. Look at our videos for examples, and feel free to use them as a template to help your creative process.

Use as many of the keywords as possible in your description and headline to help people find your content when they search for the topic. Basically, give YouTube what it wants. Help it show your content to the right people by working within the system they use. Again, I can’t recommend VidIQ highly enough. If you don’t use that, use some kind of tool to help you with this. It goes a long way.

How to Get Your First 1,000 YouTube Subscribers

Someone following a cooking how-to video to make dinner

Now I’m going to go over how to get your first 1,000 YouTube subscribers, and I’ll be sharing some little tricks and hacks that I used myself when I was first starting out on YouTube. All you really have to do to get more subscribers is provide value. However, there are some things that will help speed up the process. One thing I did was leverage Facebook groups. Just type in your niche, and search under the ‘Groups’ category to find groups of users who are already interested in your niche topic.

If you are careful and go about it the right way, you can advertise in these groups. Everyone has heard that you can’t advertise in these groups, but you can if you approach it correctly. Don’t join these groups and start spamming your links or being overt about your products and services, especially as a new member. That will get you flagged. Go into the groups and be helpful. Add real value. Join the biggest, most active groups, and comment on people’s posts — answer questions, help them, and be genuine.

Do this consistently for at least a week so you won’t be flagged as a new member anymore. They will start seeing you as part of their community, and you’ll earn their respect along with some goodwill. Watch the activity and wait until you see a common question that keeps coming up time and time again. If it’s something you have a video on, answer the question and link your video with a nice response explaining that you just shot a video on the topic. You can even give them the timestamp for the information they’re looking for. Remember, the point is always to add real value.

5 Best-Selling Digital Products to Sell Online

Creating digital products to sell online is one of the best ecommerce strategies for new businesses because of the profitability. Unlike physical products, you only need to create them once, and then you can make repeat sales with them. Unfortunately, a lot of people neglect to create and sell these products properly. They may overcomplicate things and neglect to take full advantage of these opportunities, only to drop them out of frustration. However, there are plenty of great products out there that are worth the investment.

The following are five of the best-selling digital products to sell online, whether your business is just starting out or you’re looking for new worthwhile digital products to add to your growing inventory. You can sell them repeatedly, or you can even offer them as free giveaways to gain more subscriptions and email leads.

1. Video Courses

close-up of a professional camera as a man starts creating video course content

While video courses can be extremely lucrative, it’s important to keep in mind that they require you to be engaged and truly invested in them. Other digital products to sell online may not demand too much interest or expertise on the seller’s part. But video courses are the exception. If you’re going to teach people about a certain topic, you need to have some knowledge and experience in that niche.

Use YouTube to Begin Your Research

The first step you can take when getting started with video courses is to look on YouTube. Here, you can determine if a niche is actually consuming free video content. The big indicator here is that if people aren’t consuming free content, they’re not likely to spend much money on more premium content down the road. Try to look for videos that get up to a million or more views, which is a good sign that free content is popular in that niche and that many of those viewers will probably buy content from you.

For instance, if you look up poker video courses on YouTube, you’ll find plenty of content that a lot of people consume. Many of those videos easily get up to over a million views. While many videos in the poker niche might not get more than a few hundred, the fact that many other videos approach or reach that million-viewer threshold is indicative of a viable market.

Check Clickbank to See Where People Are Buying Content

There are a couple of places to see where people are buying video content, the first of which is Clickbank. Simply create a free account and search for the topic you want to cover. The nice thing about Clickbank is that they make it obvious which products are selling the best on a daily basis. However, not every niche appears on Clickbank.

Look at Udemy

If you’re not finding your niche on Clickbank, you can also check Udemy. The courses on Udemy may not be the most in-depth, but they can give you some insight as to which niches are the most profitable for selling video content.

You may also find that your niche is popular on one platform but not the other. For instance, when you search for poker videos on Udemy, you’ll get a lot of results, but there are curiously very few results on Clickbank. If anything, identifying these differences can help you identify opportunities to sell that others in that niche aren’t seeing.

2. Templates

Templates are also very profitable digital products to sell online. Many people want something that makes it easy for them to follow and semi-automate certain processes. For example, there is a big market for email templates because businesses and professionals don’t want to have to manually create every email from scratch.

Look for Templates on Google Images

When looking for examples of templates, one of the easiest methods is to simply do a Google Image search. Look for templates in your niche. Some niches will be harder than others, of course. Take our poker niche for example. It’s not the best if you want to sell templates instead of or in addition to video content. Meanwhile, the home and fitness niche has plenty of templates out there for home workouts.

Templates make both profitable products and excellent giveaways to generate more leads and subscribers.

3. E-books

screen grab of researching potential ebook niches on Amazon

E-books and templates are somewhat similar. But, while templates are good for a quick win for customers, e-books require more active investment. People actually have to read them.

Many people who think of e-books think of them as massive feature-length books of 100 pages or more. But you don’t need to make them anywhere near this length. In fact, a good length for an e-book is around ten pages — or even fewer, if possible. It all depends on your niche; some niches may require longer e-books to cover everything that customers want to know.

Check Out E-book Examples on Amazon

When looking for examples of e-books in your niche, the best place to go is Amazon. Specifically, look for your topic in the books section.

Selling e-books is likely profitable if you find that a lot of people are buying books in that specific niche. You can look at the most popular topics to cover. Reconceptualize some of the ideas discussed in those books to help you find the most lucrative e-book opportunities.

Use The PLR Store to Find Your E-books

One of the easiest ways to put your e-books together is to visit theplrstore.com. Private label rights (PLR) will give you the right to sell an e-book repeatedly for profit as your own product. You may need to create your own e-books if you aren’t able to find your niche on The PLR Store, but this site can save you a lot of time, money, and effort.

When selling your e-books, remember that it’s best to avoid overwhelming the customer with information. Give them valuable content that they’ll find useful one product at a time.

4. Membership Sites

There are two different types of membership sites that you can run, both of which are ideal digital products to sell online for many niches.

Charge One-Time Fees

You can offer a one-time fee for membership on some sites. For example, you may include a selection of video content on your membership site, for which you would charge a one-time fee to give members access to all video content at once.

Giving Access on a Monthly Basis

It’s also possible to give people monthly access to your website with a subscription. Unlike a membership site with a one-time fee, you can earn more money from long-term subscriptions in turn for providing information to customers on a regular basis. In the process, you’ll be able to gain their trust over time, and they’re likely going to spend more money on your products.

With subscriptions, you can release regular updates featuring video courses, templates, e-books, and more that keep people coming back to you.

5. Coaching and Consulting

If you’re an expert in something or really enjoy a certain activity and have something to offer to others, you can make that a profitable skill through coaching and consulting. People are always looking for mentors to help them learn more and remain accountable.

Consider what you can offer to your customers on a weekly basis if you want to focus on these digital products to sell online. You may need to charge anywhere from $100 to thousands of dollars on a monthly basis for this kind of content—it will ultimately depend on the kind of advice or guidance you’re offering.

One great example is the fitness niche. If you’re somebody who stays active and healthy and can spread your knowledge to people trying to get to your level, people are always looking for someone like you to hold them accountable. Spend a few hours with a group of students or mentees, and help them grow and improve. While you may be tempted to give away free consulting, it’s typically best to charge for every course or session, as people spending money on your services are more driven to succeed.

Consult With the Pros at Ecommerce Empire Builders

3 Things All Winning Ecommerce Products Have in Common

High-earning, winning ecommerce products aren’t the only secret to success, but you can’t build your business without them. When you’re starting out with a dropshipping business and just getting into ecommerce, you’re probably wondering what specifically makes a winning product successful. Start by identifying the elements of a successful product, then determine if a particular product is actually worth your time and effort. The following are some of the common denominators of winning products that break seven figures.

1. The Product Solves a Specific Problem

When choosing winning ecommerce products to sell through your dropshipping business, it’s important to identify a specific problem that each product helps solve. What pain points are your customers facing? How can your product help ease that pain? Consider whether the product:

Saves Time

Time is a valuable asset that many people treasure, as you’ve probably heard summed up frequently in the phrase “time is money.” If you can show how your product can help save time, this could go a long way in increasing conversions.

Saves Money

In addition to time, people want to save more money. Show how your product can save money through price comparisons with competitors and offers that are uniquely yours, along with how your product can eliminate the need for other purchases.

Provides Status

Consider big, glamorous brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci. People aren’t buying their products because of their functionality as much as the status that brand affiliation brings. If you can show how your products provide status — if you can make your customers feel like they’re part of an elite group and can show their purchase off — you can further increase sales.

Provides Relief

Winning ecommerce products also provide some type of relief for customers. This isn’t necessarily applicable to every product out there. But some products may be able to make people’s lives easier in some way, whether it’s increased comfort, peace of mind, or efficiency.

Falls Under a Specific Passion Niche

Some of the most successful products also sit within a particular passion niche. Many hobbies succeed independently of the status of the economy.

2. There’s a Unique, Wow, or Cool Factor

man happily opening a delivered package

Winning ecommerce products also come with some kind of “wow” or “cool” factor that helps them stand apart from the competition. You want to inspire people to buy your product, so making it look irresistible is the key to getting more people to make a purchase.

If you want to create this factor for your products, you need to make sure the product:

  • Piques people’s curiosity
  • Is for a mass niche, i.e., a broad niche that many people are interested in
  • Is an impulse purchase, meaning people will want to buy it without giving it much thought
  • Isn’t readily available in stores
  • Simply makes people think, “I’ve got to have this!”

3. The Product Is an Evergreen or Trending Offer

Holiday shopper looking for trendy offers and niche products

A good product also comes with one of two types of product offers: evergreen or trending.

Evergreen Offers

Evergreen offers are products that are found in stores, making it easy for customers to find them. They’re also within a passion niche, such as a hobby that people regularly enjoy. Multiple sellers also sell evergreen products on Amazon, which indicates that there’s a market out there for them.

Customers may or may not have purchased evergreen products in the past. In any case, you will need to provide some incentive for customers to buy from you.

Example of an Evergreen Offer

An example of an evergreen offer could be a drawing glove that provides some comfort while the user draws or sketches. Let’s analyze this product:

  • It’s in the passion niche of drawing/sketching, which is always attracting consumers.
  • It’s sold on Amazon.
  • It provides relief by easing the sketching and drawing process and preventing smudging.
  • It saves both time and money by making the drawing and sketching process more efficient.

All of these factors make this extremely likely to be one of the winning ecommerce products in your business.

Trending Offers

Unlike evergreen products, trending offers don’t sell in stores. They’re almost exclusively online. They also tend to fall under a mass niche instead of a passion niche because they appeal to a large number of consumers. While they may not be readily available in stores, they are also not easy to find on Amazon when shopping online.

Customers likely haven’t purchased these items before, either, and they’re mostly sold on a seasonal basis or around major holidays. For example, you might only sell pool accessories during the summer months, while certain festive decorative items might only be appropriate around Christmas.

Oftentimes, it’s best to make trending offers an upsell for a core product, as the trend will likely die off at some point.

Examples of Trending Offers

screen grab of analyzing the positive attributes of drawing gloves as a winning ecommerce product

One example of a trending offer is a pair of cool-looking polarized glasses, which:

  • Is suitable for a number of activities, making it usable in a variety of passion niches
  • Sells on Amazon
  • Provides status because of its unique design, which helps it stand apart from the competition

Another example is a phone magnet car mount, which allows users to mount their phones to their vehicles’ dashboards. This product:

  • Falls under a mass-market niche, not a passion niche. (However, it may be best to avoid this product for dropshipping, since the competition will be stiff.)
  • Isn’t currently on Amazon, but will appear on the platform at some point
  • Comes with that wow/cool/unique factor that makes it ripe for impulse purchases

Implementing each of these factors in your dropshipping business will help you successfully sell your products and beat the competition. It can be a challenge to pinpoint the precise niche to target and prove what makes your products more valuable than competitor products. But you’ll be able to determine what makes your product a winner if you take the time to identify all of the strengths worth promoting.

We recommend creating a list of product attributes, including details about how your product can save time and money, provide relief, provide status, and the specific profitable mass or passion niches in which your product can excel. This will help you choose the perfect products for your dropshipping business.

Sell These 7 Popular Products in Your Dropshipping Store Right Now

Empire builders, are you ready to capitalize on the endless opportunities awaiting you in the world of dropshipping? The ecommerce industry is booming right now. With people having to stay home and respect social distancing measures at the moment, the primary way to get goods has been online. Even as things return to normal, online shopping will continue to thrive. If you haven’t already, now is the time to enter the ecommerce industry and sell these popular products in your dropshipping store.

As you enter this industry, don’t fall into the traps that many first-time dropshippers do. A lot of people entering the industry try to reinvent the wheel. Don’t waste your time. The wheel has already been invented. All you need to do is research the existing industry and look for the products and niches that people already love

When you’re doing your research, make sure you’re looking for niches and products that you’re actually into. Being into your product makes business a lot more enjoyable. Your business should be fun and light, making you want to jump out of bed each morning and conquer the day. I used to sell products that I didn’t care about, but I found significant success within the industry when I started to sell products that I believed in and enjoyed myself. You can achieve this work style too.

If you want to enter the ecommerce industry, now is the time. Before you start, check out the top seven products that are selling in like hotcakes right now on Shopify.

Seven Winning Shopify Products

Browsing other stores and identifying consumer trends can help you prioritize popular products in your dropshipping store. Consider adding these seven:

1. Toy Storage Bags

Toy storage bags are a hot product to sell on Shopify right now. Kids are at home full time right now, as are most parents. Typically, kids are at school or daycare. With the current state of the world, parents have to deal with more messes at home. Toy storage bags provide a solution for distressed parents — a small solution, but a solution nonetheless.

If you’re already in the toy niche or sell to parents, this the product for you. It’s a simple product, but it’s also a useful product. It can be used as a great pairing or upsell offer for other toys or storage products that you sell. When you’re thinking of products to sell or niches to get into, you always want to think of how your product can help someone.

The bottom line is that products that provide solutions sell. When you take on the mentality of helping people or providing solutions for them, I promise you will see a lot more success in this industry.

2. Weighted Jump Ropes

The home fitness niche is thriving right now. With gyms closed and more people at home, people are working out from home far more than ever. Weighted jump ropes are one home fitness product that is moving in the Shopify world. This product has little weights inside the jump rope, making the exercise a bit more of a challenge.

Keep in mind, though, that your customers don’t actually care about the jump rope itself. What they care about are the results the weighted jump rope can give them. When selling fitness products, you’re not selling the product. You’re selling customers the results they want from the exercise.

Fitness products are great to pair with how-to information products. This sweetens the deal for your customer by giving them examples and knowledge on how to get the results they want from exercise. The most important thing to remember in this niche is that nobody wants a jump rope. They want the body that training can get them.

3. Yoga Mats

Another hot item in the fitness and health niche is yoga mats. One particular mat that is extremely popular right now is one that shows where to place your hands and feet. This is a great product, especially for beginners just looking to get into yoga, since the mat helps them get into the right positions.

Just like the weight jump ropes, this is a great item to pair with information products. If you want to sell customers a solution to their health and fitness goals, this is the product for you.

4. Paintbrushes and Tools

Home improvement projects are also thriving right now. People need tools to complete these projects they’ve meant to do. One house project that has been extremely popular these last few months is house painting. Paintbrushes and painting tools have been selling exceptionally well on Shopify. These products leave a lot of room for utilizing order bumps. You can also pair them with information products.

Remember, you’re selling people solutions. Your target customers are individuals looking to complete home improvement projects. The solution you are providing them is paintbrushes and paint tools that will make their work easier. You have to have a specific customer in mind when selling products. Do your research and know who you are selling to.

5. Hair Clippers

At-home haircuts are on the rise, and hair clippers are selling fast. More and more people are trying to learn to cut their hair from home, so this is an excellent niche to tap into right now.

However, keep in mind that if a customer gives themselves a botched haircut after buying your product, they will not be buying from you again. It’s not your fault, but keep in mind that this could be a potential repercussion. That’s also why you need to pair this product with information products like how-to guides.

6. Puzzles

father and daughter online shopping together

Puzzles are another hot product right now. They are providing people with an escape and some relaxation during this time. However, before you jump into the puzzle niche, you need to decide who you are selling to. There are puzzles from 4 pieces to 1000 pieces. You can’t just sell puzzles to everyone.

When you try to sell to everyone, you end up selling to no one.

There are tons of opportunities to tap into this niche once you decide who your target customer is. Puzzles are also an excellent subscription product to work with, too. You can have customers sign up to receive a monthly puzzle.

7. At-Home Spa Products

The final products to look into during this time are at-home spa products. A lot of people are just looking to relax right now. With at-home spa products, they can bring the spa into their living room. There are tons of pairing product opportunities within this niche, and these types of products are selling well right now.

Consult With the Pros
