How to Use a Sales Funnel for High-Priced Items: Our Case Study

Empire builders, today we’re diving into a powerful sales funnel for high-priced items and the niches that many of you want to get into. Selling high-ticket items will come with some challenges, but they also have absolutely phenomenal potential. I did a live demo sharing all the stats on a rock-star new funnel that we’re currently testing out. This innovative strategy has been consistently generating $1,000 of daily sales from a Facebook ad budget of just $50. How does this funnel deliver those kinds of results? It’s all about:

  • Promoting a premium product
  • Warming up your prospective customer with all the benefits of the product
  • Maximizing each conversion as much as possible

The funny thing about this exciting “new” technique is that it’s actually an old-school system. I was using it years ago in my dorm room when I was just getting started with dropshipping! It’s just as they say: history repeats itself. This awesome sales funnel for high-priced items has been working for me again. I’m going to show you how to make it work for you, too. 

What It Takes To Sell High-Priced Items

Before you jump into this strategy, understand that it’s specifically for premium products that sell for $50, $60, $80, and more. Getting a sale at these higher price points will require some serious persuasion. Why should the consumer fork over their hard-earned cash? You need a really compelling answer to that question, and that’s what this strategy is about.

Most dropshippers utilize Facebook ads to drive traffic to a two-step order form, a Shopify store, or another place where the customer can order the product. But what happens when instead of doing that, you send the customer to a well-written, engaging article that showcases all the benefits of the item they’re interested in buying? You can think of it almost as a news article. But it dives into:

  • The features of the product
  • What customers are saying about the product
  • Overall what makes this product useful or desirable

Crucially, the article also has several “call to action” prompts that invite the consumer to click on a link and purchase the product from your two-step order form. 

So what’s the point of all this, and why not send them directly to the order page? The idea behind this strategy is to warm up the consumer, educate them, and really create that motivation to spend their money on this product. 

Again, we’re talking about higher-ticket items. You would never need this format for a “free + shipping” offer or a deeply discounted product. But for something that costs $85, the article can serve as a type of bridge that preps and primes the customer before they even get the opportunity to buy it. That’s how you get the kind of conversions you need to turn $50 of Facebook ads into $1,000 of sales. 

The Magic of Two-Step Order Forms

In this strategy, what we do next is send that warm traffic over to a two-step order form. Now, I know that many of you are only using Shopify, or a similar platform, to run your dropshipping business. You might not be familiar with the two-step order form. It is an ecommerce sales funnel that’s designed to maximize each conversion. Trust me when I say that this tool is one of the best ways to sell products online, whether they’re physical products or digital products. 

The way it works is that the first page of the order form is to collect the customer’s shipping information and email address. Having that email is a fantastic asset. We can contact them again and again with promotions, discounts, and even cart abandonment emails that will potentially save the sale. Once the customer has filled out this information, they move on to the second page and add a payment method.

Your Sales Funnel for High-Priced Items Should Have Upsells and Quantity Breaks

The consumer will now be presented with some very tempting options for spending more money with you. This is where the magic of a two-step order form happens! You can significantly bump up the value of the customer’s cart in a way that’s not quite possible on platforms like Shopify. Your first opportunity to upsell the customer will be to offer a related digital or physical product that’s in the same niche. If you present the right product, visitors are very likely to want to add it to the order. 

Even better, you can also offer a quantity break discount to entice the customer to buy more than one of the item. Everybody loves a great deal, and quantity break discounts will offer them a better and better deal. My magic numbers for quantities to offer the customer are 1, 2, 4, 6, 8. Some people call me crazy, but I truly believe you can benefit from offering quantity break discounts with ANY product. Even if you think, “Well, no one’s going to want more than one of this. It just wouldn’t make sense.”

Trust me because I’ve seen it over and over again in my own businesses and in the ventures of my students. Let the numbers tell you if it’s a good idea or not. More likely than not, quantity break discounts will help you crush it with the profits you gain from each sale.

This sales funnel for high-priced items has been consistently reaching $1,000 in daily sales, and the average cart value is an astronomical $392. Our conversion rate is relatively low, right around the 5 percent mark, but this is very typical of higher-priced products. We can also see that, for the customer who does buy, they’re signing up for an order bump 75% of the time. Wow! That’s what a motivated consumer looks like. These numbers show the game-changing potential of warming up the customers by educating them on all the product benefits.

Now, let’s go over a couple of notes about this strategy — I know some of you are definitely going to go out there and test it out. Like with everything else in dropshipping, using this sales funnel is all about making sure the numbers work. Like I said earlier, products over $50 will always have a lower conversion on the front end. You should expect that and be prepared for it. That means making up the difference by getting those warmed-up consumers to have a very high cart value.

This is exactly what you can see from our test case. The goal of this sales funnel for high-priced items is to maximize every conversion with order bumps and with quantity discounts. If you can’t strike that balance, you’re probably just going to break even. But if you can do it, you’ll be looking at a phenomenal return, like we have here.

Empire builders, today I’m going to be sharing dropshipping hacks about how to turn a profit with your dropshipping business. This is especially useful if your store is currently underperforming or not delivering the returns you were expecting.

If you’re struggling with this issue, you’re definitely not alone. Pulling profits out of your ecommerce business can be a very tricky operation, especially since you need to continually spend on advertising. Many beginning dropshippers will find that, once all the numbers have been added up, they’re only breaking even. Today I’m going to tell you why that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, you’re ALMOST there. It’s time to break through that stalemate and enjoy some healthy profits with these dropshipping hacks.

Maximizing the Impact of Every Sale

Profitability in dropshipping is all about making the most of your advertising dollars, whether you’re driving that traffic to Shopify, Clickfunnels, a two-step order form, or to a different funnel. You need to make every sale count. Let’s take a look at some of the most effective and reliable ways to get the most out of every conversion.  

Capture Customer Emails

Building your email list is absolutely critical for dropshipping success, especially if you’re struggling with profitability. Every customer email is an asset for your business that goes way beyond that individual sale. You’ll be to reach out to that person again and again, with promotions, new product launches, discounts, etc. 

Every sale generated by email marketing is essentially pure profit that’s just for you, without having to hand over a chunk for each click. No matter what platform you’re using, make sure you drive traffic to a landing page where you can collect those assets for yourself, along with their billing information, address, etc. Growing your email list is one of the most important factors for sustainable growth and consistent profitability. 

Quantity Break Discounts

If your current funnel has the structure for quantity break discounts, there’s absolutely no reason not to use them. This very effective technique is to give the customer an irresistible discount for buying multiples of the product. Offering quantity break discounts can boost your profitability like almost nothing else; it’s one of the best dropshipping hacks to implement for an overnight boost in sales. 

Why? 

Because people love getting a bigger and bigger deal. My magic numbers for quantity options to offer the customer are 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8. Those numbers may sound like overkill to you, but this method is absolutely tried and true. I had a student a year ago that was selling premium-priced products using a two-step order form. It wasn’t a product you would expect to sell in multiples, and yet he got phenomenal results from the quantity break discounts. This is literally free money and a very effective strategy for making your business more profitable.  

Order Bumps

You always want to give the customer PLENTY of opportunities to spend money with you. An order bump is just something enticing that the customer can add on to their order. Keep it as simple as possible, but make sure it’s complementary in some way. For example, if you have a customer buying a toothbrush, why not offer them some toothpaste? You can also offer something like expedited shipping or front-of-the-line service. A well-executed order bump campaign will be converting at around 20%. This is an absolutely fantastic way to maximize this sale and help you become more profitable. 

Upsells, Upsells, Upsells

As you dive deeper into how to make the most of each sale, you should absolutely have upsells inside your funnels. That means you offer the customer more hand-picked, relevant products that they might be interested in. You have the consumer’s attention, and you probably paid dearly for that click, so make the most of it.

Your funnel can have as many upsells as you want, but I typically recommend offering three or four options. You don’t want to annoy the customer by putting them through upsell oblivion, but that’s not necessarily something to worry about. Just make sure you’re offering complementary products they might actually like, and that will provide value for them. Here are four reliable upsell dropshipping hacks you can use to be more profitable: 

1. More of the Same

This upsell is basically to give them an even better discount on the same product they’ve just bought, assuming that your margins allow it. This upsell works because they obviously like this product, and it’s what motivated them to click on the ad. Give them a reason to take advantage of the discount (“perfect for gifts,” “perfect for friends and family”). Then you can easily expand your profits on this sale. 

2. Complementary Products

These are, again, product offers that are extremely related to whatever they just bought. If the customer purchased some fishing lures, you can offer a fishing tackle box. The idea is to include something they’re going to need anyway. They might as well buy it from you, right?

3. Digital Products

It’s very hard to sell digital products on their own because it’s not something tangible. It’s hard to convince people of the value of a digital product, and they just tend to convert at a lower rate. But digital products work very well for upsells, especially if they relate directly to the niche this customer is interested in. It can be an eBook bundle, a video course, a PDF, or anything else. The best part is, you only pay someone to create the product once, and then you can sell them over and over again.  

4. Monthly Subscriptions

This is the most important upsell option, BY FAR, and one of the most effective dropshipping hacks to make your business more profitable. Every monthly subscription you sell is money that flows into your business every month without you having to do anything. It’s pure profit! If you can sell this service to 10 percent of your customers, and each subscription is $39.99, it would completely transform your business. That money could help you expand your ad budget, or you can even use it to pay yourself. Pound for pound, monthly subscriptions are one of the most effective ways to make your business profitable. 

The Smart Way to Think About Profitability

If you want to get more profitable, I want to challenge you to change your line of thinking. You can’t depend only on “posting the ad and getting the customer to buy that product.” It’s not surprising that some of you will only break even by following that basic strategy. After all, advertising costs aren’t getting any lower! There’s really only so much you can do at the ad level. But if you’re just breaking even and practically giving products away for free, that’s an excellent start. You’re getting those customers into your funnel, and THAT’S what matters. 

In other words, your profits may not come right at the beginning of the funnel. That’s why you focus on maximizing each sale by upselling digital products, complementary products, and monthly subscriptions. You make bank on quantity discounts and order bumps, not ad clicks. It’s really going to be later on down the funnel, where your margins are much more favorable and you can add in dropshipping hacks, that you can generate those big profits.  

Utilizing Your Most Important Asset: Email Lists

Email marketing remains the most powerful and cost-effective way to sell anything you want online. You should be emailing your customers every day, or at least several times a week. Email them discounts and offers. Email them your Shopify product page. Create order pages for your monthly subscriptions and email them promotions for that. If you’re really lazy, you can even email them affiliate marketing offers that relate to your niche. Like I said earlier, your customer’s email addresses are your most important asset. 

But these email addresses won’t do you any good if you’re not using them! Simply put, these email-generated sales are pure profit. If you find you’re only breaking even after paying for all those clicks, make up the difference by reaching out to your list with relevant, attractive offers.

Student Success Story: How to Use Dropshipping Funnels to Make $50k a Month

Yet another success story that highlights the value of dropshipping sales funnels and persistence is that of Jacob Jones, one of our students here at Ecommerce Empire Builders. Jacob managed to go from zero to $50,000 per month using a winning strategy. He continues to thrive in his niche, largely by knowing how to use dropshipping funnels through Clickfunnels. Here we’ll go over his story and the specific strategies he’s used over the years, which you can implement for your own dropshipping business.

Starting With a Simple Shopify Store and a Simple Idea

Around three years ago, while working as a server and in real estate, Jacob and his friend decided to give dropshipping a try. Shortly after launching his store and getting some traffic to it, Jacob began making a few sales and began to see the possibilities of ecommerce. Those few sales were enough to inspire him to keep trying. So he decided to launch a Shopify store before getting into Clickfunnels.

Jacob didn’t try to launch his business without some outside help, however. He began watching YouTube videos and other content to educate himself about dropshipping strategies that could fuel his success. After some learning and contemplation, Jacob finally decided to launch his store and focus on a specific niche with the hope that it would work in his favor. A few stores later, Jacob has seen the success that he aspired to from the start.

The first store that Jacob launched was on Shopify and focused on a highly specific niche. Today, that store is still running and succeeding. At the time of launch, Jacob was working full-time. He decided to wait to see how the store would perform before making dropshipping his focus. As he began to make sales and see the opportunities available to him, he started to grow his business. Jacob also built a relationship with a reliable supplier that’s still going strong. Eventually, after seeing a considerable amount of sales with a basic store selling baby bags, Jacob moved to Costa Rica and left his full-time job to focus solely on growing his brand.

Additionally, Jacob has recently begun using Clickfunnels. He learned how to use dropshipping funnels that move customers toward a sale more efficiently. 

Making His Products Feel Like His Own

It’s important to make your products feel like your own and ensure customers associate them with your unique brand. Jacob understood this early on and continues to seek white-labeled products that he can rebrand with his own custom-designed packaging. This way, his customers receive his products and perceive him as their key provider, not merely a reseller. Subsequently, customers are more likely to visit his store again to purchase the same or similar products.

Keep in mind that when selling on an eCommerce store, people will want to purchase whatever assets belong to your business. A basic store selling AliExpress products with no rebranding can still be valuable as you collect emails and other assets. But your individual brand could also be a huge selling point. This is particularly the case if you have long-term customers who’ve come to trust your brand over others.

Setting Goals That Drive His Success

Another key to Jacob’s success has been to set clear, realistic, and exciting goals that keep him continually motivated. One of his main current goals is to get into the Two Comma Club by the end of the year. He’s well on the way to achieving this goal. To attain this, he’s developing a store he launched about a month ago through Clickfunnels. So far, the new store has earned him around $95k. Another Shopify store that he started in May 2020 has already earned him around half a million within a year. 

One key goal that Jacob believes will help him achieve his ultimate goal is to continue using sales funnels via Clickfunnels. He intends on implementing this in future stores.

How to Use Dropshipping Funnels by Working With a Solid Team

Jacob also understands the value of a strong team working with him to achieve his dropshipping goals. If you want to go it entirely alone, you’re going to struggle. As your store grows, tasks will become overwhelming and difficult to manage. To keep his stores running efficiently, Jacob works with a virtual assistant. He’s also quick to emphasize the importance of delegating mundane and time-consuming tasks whenever possible. 

Jacob’s team is relatively small, consisting of him, a VA, and his supplier. But he intends to recruit more staff as his business continues to expand. Once you know how to use dropshipping funnels effectively, you can start to scale your business, too.

Sticking to an Effective Daily Routine

To help him stay focused on a regular basis, Jacob has developed a healthy daily routine that he follows. Now that he’s self-employed, he has ample time to dedicate to his business, which is reflected in his routine. Although you may not be at this level quite yet, you can get there eventually with the same persistence.

To start off his day, Jacob wakes up anywhere between 8 and 8:30 AM. He then begins writing down his daily tasks to establish a clear roadmap from dawn to dusk. As the day progresses, he checks off these items to keep him in line. This strategy gives him specific plans for every day, making sure he stays busy and productive.

Managing a Dependable Network of Ads

Jacob also relies on several channels for his ads as part of his strategy for how to use dropshipping funnels. In addition to Facebook, which attracts around 90% of his total traffic, he runs ads through Snapchat, Google Ads, and TikTok. While he’s currently struggling with a Facebook ad campaign for his Clickfunnels store due to his specific niche, he’s working to mitigate this and get the most from this platform.

We believe that it’s perfectly fine to target multiple channels for ads as long as your target audience uses those platforms. But this isn’t necessary, either. We’ve found that many successful dropshipping businesses are able to pull in most of their customer base from a single source, such as Facebook or YouTube. If you can find that one specific channel that yields the best results, we definitely recommend sticking with it. The fewer platforms you use for ads, the easier your campaigns will be to manage.

Harnessing the Power of Email Lists

As he works to monetize non-buyers for his business, Jacob is proud of his email lists, which he sees as his main assets. It took him some time to begin building email lists, but he eventually took the time to get them up and running to his benefit. In the process, he’s been able to more easily stay in front of customers’ faces and connect with prospects and existing customers alike. 

We perceive email lists as particularly valuable because of their ability to influence people’s buying decisions more effectively than other marketing efforts. You can:

  • Show your recipients videos of influencers using your products.
  • Send enticing offers.
  • Showcase your brand in other ways to keep your audience aware of you.

Consistency Is a Key Part of How to Use Dropshipping Funnels

When asked what Jacob recommends most to others looking to get into this business, he stated that persistence and consistency were vital. Jacob is able to devote most of his time to his endeavors now that he’s self-employed. But even if you’re still working a full-time job, you can gain the freedom he has by sticking to a strategy that works. Don’t be deterred by slow periods, and keep at it until you begin to grow your business. Over time, you’ll be able to overcome the various challenges you’re likely to face and then experience the kind of success that Jacob continues to enjoy. 

Like most success stories, Jacob’s is one of hard work and resilience that helped him get ahead. What helps him to grow further and move forward is the fact that he still doesn’t see his story as one of success quite yet. He’s always aiming toward a new goal to land him on the next plateau.

Today we’re going to quickly break down and run through the steps of how you can start a supplement dropping business. You’re going to learn how to build your supplement brand 100% online through dropshipping strategies. We’re going to discuss everything from picking out suppliers and supplements to understanding how to capitalize on these decisions through advertisement and sales funnels. With that being said, let’s jump right in. 

How to Start a Supplement Dropshipping Business

You’ll find that supplements are incredibly trendy right now with the current pandemic situation. But the truth is that they’ve always been a popular target for making sales. Everyone loves to buy that perfect supplement that offers them a little extra boost, and that’s part of what makes starting a supplement dropshipping business such an easy thing to capitalize on.

If you’ve never started a dropshipping business, supplements are slightly different due to the legality that comes along with them. So, if you’re unfamiliar with the market or don’t have time to learn about the legal aspects of marketing supplements, you can still start dropshipping with just $0. If your goal is to get into supplements and you have a bit of a budget, then this short guide is for you.

Selecting and Working With a Supplier

Two suppliers that we’ve already personally vetted are Ship Offers and Supplement Manufacturing Partner (SMP). Both of these are dropshipping suppliers that focus solely on supplements rather than other products. So, how exactly does dropshipping for supplements work? Let’s break it down. 

When you pull up SMP, you’ll find their catalog with 242 results for different supplements that you can private label. This means that all of the science, ingredients, manufacturing, and product-specific needs are already put together. All you have to do is pick out the supplement(s) you want to put your label on. With SMP’s supplement catalog, you can quickly click on the items you think will fit your niche and goals. Then you can check out the supplemental facts to make sure they’re a great match. 

When picking out which products you want to sell as you start a supplement dropshipping business, you have two basic options. You can go white-label or custom creation.

  • White label is where the science behind creating, manufacturing, and handling the supplements is already done. White label products are ready to go and market as-is. All you have to do is work with a supplier to label the supplements and begin marketing them.  
  • With custom creation, you’re working with a unique, new formula and private labeling. The concept for the product is brand new, so there’s going to be more focus on creating the perfect formula, testing it, and actually purchasing inventory. 

Start a Supplement Dropshipping Business With Ingredients You Know About

In my personal opinion, especially when it comes to supplements, always sell stuff that you use. This can be a way to further market the products, but it can also build trust in what you’re offering.

Once you’ve selected a supplement, you can send an inquiry or request a sample. We always recommend that you reach out, make a call, and start the conversation. You’ll typically speak to a representative so you can learn about what their specific dropship process looks like. This is a great way to start building that relationship with the supplier, and it allows you to get to know about them.

Depending on the inventory of each supplier, sometimes there will be a minimum purchase of 100 or so units rather than on-demand options. This is commonly practiced with white labeling because that supplier will be taking their logo off a product and replacing it with yours. 

The same setup goes for the other supplier, Ship Offers. Its interface is similar to AliExpress. So those of you familiar with the platform may find them easier to work with as a supplier. They also offer fulfillment services. 

Beginning Sales and Marketing

As empire builders, you know that we have a basic strategy that we follow when creating and building any business. This strategy is proven to work and simple to use. The basic structure relies on three main components. 

  1. The Niche — What’s the niche you want to sell to? Specifically, who
  2. Crafting the Offer — What’s your audience getting other than your product? Direct guides that go with the supplement or maybe a bundle discount?
  3. Your Funnel — This is the structure of your sales pitch. It includes your niche lingo, what your offer gives customers, and more. 

Knowing how to build and use sales funnels will be crucial to growing your business.

Learning to Drive and Manage Traffic

Now that you’ve selected your supplements and partnered with a supplier, it’s time to drive traffic to your marketing campaign. For years, we’ve used the same basic strategy to manage and maintain our sales. This is especially true when you start a supplement dropshipping business. There are so many options out there, and brand loyalty is major among consumers.

The trick is combining influencer shoutouts with retargeting ads. The idea behind it is that you’re driving warm traffic to your offer and your funnel. Retargeting ads then pop up for consumers that have already seen a little bit of what your brand has to offer. Whether that be through an influencer’s post or another ad, the exposure of seeing your business’s supplement offer pop back up is warming them up to the idea that you’re familiar and they have a connection with you. 

Through these ads, lead consumers back to your landing page for a specific supplement. Showcase the ingredients and supplemental facts. Then highlight similar products that are frequently bought together, and offer even more deals with bundles. Your landing page can be extremely basic but display the highlights customers care about:

  • What are the ingredients?
  • How do you use it?
  • Can we see people using it?
  • Can we see some reviews?
  • Where do I buy it?

While the Facebook Ad Library is nothing new, the recent update has brought some interesting changes that can come in handy for dropshippers. If you’re unfamiliar with the Ad Library, it’s a tool that Facebook created to enable users to browse the many ads that companies are displaying. You can easily use this tool to get some ideas for your own ads. You can also see which ads perform the best. 

If you want to use the Ad Library as a way to find dropshipping products for your own store, you can take the following steps to get started.

1. Search for Ads With the New Search Function

The big game-changer with the Ad Library update is the search function. It allows users to search for ads across the massive library. The old-school method of looking for ideas was to simply visit Facebook’s main website and search for company names and products, but the Ad Library’s search capability makes this even more convenient.

In the new “Search Ads” section near the top of the main Ad Library page, you’ll be able to search ads by category. These categories include “All Ads,” along with specific categories. For your purposes, you’ll want to select “All Ads” first. From there, you can search by keywords or advertisers in the adjacent search bar. Use this as a way to find dropshipping products before zeroing in on more specific ideas.

When searching by advertiser, you can type in specific company names and see all the ads that they’re currently running. Otherwise, you can search by keyword, which would be a particular niche you want to target. When it comes to keywords, you can type in everything from individual product categories to industry-specific phrases and topics. 

For example, you can search for “get yours today” and see a list of results that include active ads. 

2. Look Through the List of Ads

After conducting your search, you’ll see a page with all the currently running ads based on the keyword you enter. When searching for “get yours today,” we found a wide range of products. This includes physical products such as tool kits and gym equipment. There turned out to be a lot of ads featuring this highly specific phrase. So you can probably find many other examples based on your niche.

3. Try a Wide Range of Keywords

As you look through the Ad Library and perform various searches, try other keyword entries that might yield optimal results. For instance, you could type “free plus shipping” to see what types of products primarily have customers pay for shipping costs. You could also look for items that are discounted with the phrase “50% off.”  

Keep in mind that not all the products you look through are going to be winners. Not all ads shown are necessarily successful. Some ads might have just been launched today, for example, with no real chance to gain traction and drive results. Meanwhile, other ads might be from months earlier and no longer as relevant. 

4. Research Individual Products and Companies

Unfortunately, this tool isn’t a perfect way to find dropshipping products. One of the downsides of using the Ad Library is that you can’t actually gain insight into ads’ performance. You won’t be able to see engagement such as likes, comments, or shares. So you have to dig deeper on your own. More experienced dropshippers might be able to determine whether an ad is good. But even if an ad doesn’t look great, the product it’s selling might be a favorite among customers. 

The best way to figure out how an advertiser is performing is to look at the company website. View their Facebook business pages. These can give you a better idea of how well ads are performing and the level of quality that competitors provide. Based on these aspects, you can determine how to approach your ad campaigns to get the kinds of results you want.

Use the Facebook Ad Library to Start Your Ad Campaign

7 Trending Summer Products to Sell in May and June

Empire Builders, I know that it’s intimidating to browse AliExpress looking for your next winning product, especially if you’re just getting started with your dropshipping business. So I’m sharing seven trending summer products that you could begin selling today, and they’re all perfect for someone that’s new to making money with dropshipping. But I’m not just here to give you these product picks. More importantly, I’m going to tell you WHY these are fantastic products. Like anything else, the process of choosing products is a skill you need to learn and develop over time.

Choosing trending summer products is more of an art than a science. But there are several key factors that can guide you in the right direction. Listen and learn since this will be one of the most important elements for building your empire!    

1. Waterproof Bed or Seat 

Our first winning product is part of the camping and hiking niche, which is going to do extremely well as we head into the summer months. People will be much more interested in outdoor activities, which means they’ll be buying all sorts of accessories. A product like this is great because it has multiple purposes. It’s a waterproof mattress that can also be used as a seat, and it rolls up into a small carrying pouch. This product is portable, comfortable, and perfect for camping or hiking.

The first criteria we can think about while choosing trending summer products is making sure that we hit on the fundamentals of what makes any product desirable. 

  • Does the product save time?
  • Can the product save people money?
  • Does it have a “just gotta have it” appeal because the customer really wants it?  

Ideally, you need at least one of these factors. But if you can find a product that has all three, that’s even better. Those are the products that really blow up. This waterproof camping bed definitely has all three elements since it’s inexpensive, convenient, and will make outdoor adventures more comfortable. 

What else do we like about this product? It has a very good star rating, a sizable amount of reviews, and also over 4,000 orders. That’s exactly what we want to see. If you want to choose some trending summer products, it’s absolutely crucial that you find a GOOD product. That means people like it, and it’s providing value for them. 

The next thing we look for is making sure a good, reputable supplier is offering the product. You can head to the detailed seller ratings page to review where they stand as far as “Item as Described,” “Communication,” and “Shipping Speed.” You want to make sure that all these ratings are above 4.5. In this case, the supplier of the waterproof camping bed passes the test with flying colors. 

2. Portable Hand-Pull Saw

Continuing with the outdoors theme as we head into summer, this small, portable saw can be used to cut down branches and small trees. This product can be used for many purposes, including to clear an area in the woods where the consumer wants to set up a tent. Portable saws are a specialty product that really resonates with people that have a passion for the outdoors. This product can be aimed at campers and hikers. Also, it’s definitely in the survivalist niche, which has been doing extremely well over the last year. So again, we have a useful product in a popular niche from a reputable seller. The saw is also a pretty cool product that looks great in video ads. 

There are some limitations with products like knives and saws, such as how you’re not allowed to promote them with Facebook ads. But this is still a fantastic product for anyone in the survivalist/hiking/camping niche. For example, you can use it as an upsell for another product or offer it to your email list.

3. Waterproof Pouch

As we’re thinking about what people like to do during the summer months, what else comes to mind? They’ll definitely be spending time at beaches, pools, rivers, etc. This is especially true as life gets back to normal and people are eager to hang out with others. Products for everything that has to do with having fun around water will be getting popular right now. Consumers can use this waterproof pouch to store their cellphone, earbuds, wallet, or other small accessories that they want to protect from sand and water. This pouch is useful, convenient, and extremely inexpensive. Another winning product!

Our next product is really the same concept as the pouch and can even be considered complementary. That means the same consumer might want to purchase both! Which brings me to a really smart principle to be thinking about: how can you sell a customer the next thing that makes sense for their needs

Just make sure you pick a niche instead of trying to sell it to everyone. I’ve just moved to a home with a massive backyard, which means my wife and I are spending a lot of time looking at outdoor decor. We’re definitely not the only ones. Everything that has to do with outdoor decorations has become massively popular over the last year. There’s no end in sight to this trend as we head into summer, which makes it a great niche. But, even as I’m walking around with my wife being a consumer, I still always keep my dropshipper hat on.

They also definitely have that “just gotta have it” appeal because they’re attractive, unique, and fairly inexpensive. That’s what you want in trending summer products for your stores.

7. Solar-Powered Lights

We round out our list of trending summer products with this genius product that consumers can attach to their patio furniture or any other elements of their outdoor space. It’s solar-powered, which makes these lights eco-friendly and inherently cool. They also solve an actual problem, which is a dark backyard. 

The best thing about this product? People will definitely want more than one! I always recommend that you offer quantity break discounts for two, four, six, eight, or more units. I recommend this strategy almost regardless of what kind of product you’re selling because consumers really can surprise you with how many units they’ll buy when there’s a discount involved. Needless to say, those multiple sales will really help your margins out. With a product like these solar-powered lights, where the customer is extremely likely to need several, offering quantity break discounts can add up to a substantial amount of income. Welcome back, Empire Builders! ​Recently, Alibaba had a trade show called March Expo, where suppliers showed off their latest products (including many winning 8-figure dropshipping products). It’s a bit like a smaller, online version of the Canton Fair, the biggest trade fair in China. Whether you haven’t begun building your business, you’re just starting out, or you’re already ​​established in a niche, taking advantage of training like these events will benefit your business now or in the future.

Learn how to leverage Alibaba, along with events like the Canton Fair and March Expo, to find high-profit dropshipping products on demand and start making profits today. These events display the hottest up-and-coming products gaining popularity. Many of them won’t be available outside of China for years, if ever. That’s why it’s such a great opportunity to get ahead of the curve, learn the trends, and capitalize on them long before your competitors have any idea these products exist. 

Start With Alibaba.com 

Go to Alibaba.com. You’ll see tons of promotions for the March Expo or, once the event has passed, trending seasonal items. Based on your niche, click the category you want to explore. When looking through the products, you’ll likely see many you’re familiar with and others you may never have even heard of. Try to identify potential 8-figure products worth selling. (You can also prepare for events and seasonal sales in the latter half of 2021 and even 2022!)

Avoid This Common and Costly Rookie Mistake

One of the biggest mistakes that newbies make is finding a product and jumping in with a supplier — without knowing how to tell if they’re reliable or being able to recognize red flags. When people are just beginning, they’re understandably excited. To set your business up for success, however, one of the most important things is finding a reputable supplier.

The biggest limitation of selling physical products is logistics. You have to deal with things like confirming your suppliers ship orders on time, verifying that customers receive tracking numbers, ensuring sufficient inventory, and much more. A lot of this is the supplier’s responsibility. But you have to make sure your suppliers are doing their jobs properly. That’s why it’s so important to work with reputable suppliers.

Luckily, Alibaba shows the leading suppliers for each category and displays trust badges to help you decide who to work with. I always make sure my suppliers have a minimum of three to five years of experience. You’ll see that some have been in business for five years, while others have been around for as many as 18! 

How to Pick a Supplier

Let’s focus back on the subcategories; suppose that you want to start selling gardening supplies. Then click on “View More” to see all the products in that category. If you’re still new to e-commerce, you may feel overwhelmed with all the options and confused about how to pick products. That’s completely normal. My first and most important piece of advice about this is: NEVER find a supplier and immediately click “start order.” You’d be surprised how many people do that without thinking it through.

1. Contact the Supplier

Contacting the supplier first allows you to discuss different pricing options and structures. With this simple step, you can get a better price for your 8-figure dropshipping products. If you reach out, they’ll often give you a better deal than the listed price. So, when you find a supplier that sells something of interest, go to their page. Look for indicators that they’re trustworthy. First, check the verification type. If it says “on-site check,” that means Alibaba sent somebody to physically inspect the location to make sure everything’s in order and the business is legitimate.

2. Do Business With a Manufacturer, Not Just a Trading Company

Next, focus on the business type. This is one of the most important things! If you only remember one thing I say today, remember that the ideal business type is a manufacturer, meaning they make the products themselves. If it says, “trading company,” though, they’re basically a middleman who just dropships somebody else’s products to you. Sometimes they’ll be listed as a manufacturer and trading company which is fine. If you can avoid working with a trading company, you generally should. Most of the time, working directly with manufacturers gets you the best deal.

I know people hate to hear, “it depends,” but in this case, that isn’t always a hard and fast rule. You’ll usually get a better deal with a manufacturer. But there will be times when a trading company is cheaper because they’re working with multiple sellers and getting bulk discounts you couldn’t afford. Just do your due diligence first when you’re investing in potential 8-figure dropshipping products. Speaking of due diligence, always make sure that the supplier brings in a decent profit. If they’re selling all those products and only making 100k a year, they might be doing something wrong. Look for companies making at least a couple million dollars.

Make sure any supplier you consider has a quick response time and a high on-time delivery rate so that you know you can count on them. It also helps to use a supplier with multiple products in the same category. This way, if you want to expand into gardening tools or accessories down the road, you already have a supplier instead of having to start over and juggling two different manufacturers.   

Verify Your 8-Figure Dropshipping Products

Let’s say you see some products you think would work and you found a possible supplier who is reputable. But how do you know if the product(s) you chose is worth selling? Personally, I always like to leverage Amazon. They have powerful tools, millions of users, and so much data available and visible. Why not use it?

Just search your product on Amazon and see how much they’re selling for. Then, compare that price to the cost of buying it from your supplier to see your profit margin. Make sure they’re not dominated by one brand so that you can break into the market. Also, make sure that the product is actually selling by checking their seller rank to see if it’s under #20,000.

The great thing about the TODAY Show is that they also have a “Shop TODAY” website. This means all of the valuable market research they provide is free for you to reference at any time. Just head over to their website, and check out the countless articles they have. Each one of these articles contains valuable information on trending products you can start dropshipping today. From home decor to fashion to beauty products, the TODAY Show is laying out all of the must-have products of today. 

Once you find a product that goes along with your niche, head on over to AliExpress or Alibaba and find the best place to source the product. Both of these websites will have a ton of suppliers offering all of the products you found on the “Shop TODAY” website. I think some of the coolest products with the most potential on the “Shop TODAY” website are the kitchen gadgets. Everyone’s got to eat, so the kitchen niche is always going to have a demand. From cool little freezer trays to mini waffle makers to kitchen organization gadgets, there are just so many kitchen niche products to tap into. Once you have picked out your products and found the supplier that’s right for your dropshipping goals, it’s time to get to start digging a little deeper and putting together that winning offer.

Now that you’ve found your next winning dropshipping product through the Today’s Show’s done-for-you market research, it’s time for you to do a little work of your own. You need to create a compelling offer with your cool life hack product. This is where your own market research skills come into play. One of the first places I suggest going to is Amazon. Amazon is the king of online shopping. While none of us will ever be able to beat Amazon, we can still create more compelling offers than them. Remember, the secret to dropshipping success is to create an irresistible offer. Anyone can sell a spatula, but not everyone can make a six-figure business out of selling spatulas. 

Once you’re ready to get down to business, head on over to Amazon. Go ahead and run a search on the product you are planning on selling. Once you find it, scroll down until you find the “frequently bought together” section. This information shows you what your target customers are interested in. Then you can bundle products that will attract the biggest number of customers possible. The products you find on Amazon and the “Shop TODAY” website will provide you free ideas for products and upsells pairings. I stumbled upon this new product discovery method in a unique manner. But it has already proven to be a valuable resource. Now that you know where to look, it’s time to get to find dropshipping products and build out your next six-figure sales funnel!

While the TODAY Show may have been an unconventional place to discover a list of million-dollar dropshipping products, I’m so glad that I did. This is the easiest way I have ever found to conduct market research and find dropshipping products in all my experience in the ecommerce industry. In this edition of Roasts and Ranks, we’re looking at a business called Fitnetic Nation. We wanted to see what they’re doing right and what could benefit from some improvement. In the process, we’ll go over how to make money with ClickFunnels and Shopify.

First Impressions: An Impressive Use of Sales Funnels But Weak Design and a Broad Niche

From the moment we visited the Fitnetic Nation website, we were impressed with the fact that they used a sales funnel through ClickFunnels. Usually, the stores we review consist solely of a Shopify store without any use of funnels. But the people behind Fitnetic Nation seem to have a good grasp of a sales funnel’s importance. Instead of simply building a Shopify store, Fitnetic Nation uses a system to bring people up the sales ladder and optimize their maximum cart value.

What was unique about Fitnetic Nation was that they had both a main website at fitneticnation.org and another ClickFunnels site, fitneticnation.com. Looking at their .org domain, we weren’t immediately wowed by the homepage. For a business in the fitness niche, we felt that the website was fairly generic and uninteresting. The banner image was somewhat blurry. We also noticed that the font in the banner logo was different from that in the logo below. We would’ve liked to see some consistency.

Problems With the Theme

Generally, we thought the theme on the .org domain was unimpressive. Even a basic WordPress or ClickFunnels theme could offer some more uniqueness and flair. The biggest issue with this is that a niche like fitness demands a lot of energy and liveliness to inspire prospective customers. But the website simply lacked that kind of energy. Due to the lack of clarity when it came to the niche on the homepage, we couldn’t give it many points.

For instance, the homepage on the .org domain states that Fitnetic Nation provides various products for “anyone looking to get in shape and move to the next level in their fitness journey,” but that’s too broad. We felt that they could have dug deeper here. They should have chosen a specific sub-niche, such as stay-at-home moms or busy professionals. It’s important to speak to a specific audience to establish a better connection, which Fitnetic Nation didn’t do.

As a side note, we don’t recommend getting into the fitness niche unless you’re willing to work hard and devote a lot of time to it. It’s one of the most competitive and influencer-driven niches. Unless you’re able to post on Instagram, YouTube, or other platforms on a daily basis, the chances of succeeding in this niche are normally very slim. A key part of knowing how to make money with ClickFunnels is knowing what niche (and sub-niche) to focus on.

The Store: Bare-Bones Product Pages Don’t Entice Buyers With a Clear Offer

Looking at the products on Fitnetic Nation’s .org domain, we didn’t love the design of the product pages. The biggest problem was the absence of any kind of engaging offer. The price for the Dimok Sport Weighted Vest showed a sale lowering it from around $60 to $45.97. But there wasn’t anything attention-grabbing about the rest of the page. Also, the site didn’t prominently display the price. Even if people see the price drop, they may just head over to Amazon. They might find the product for even less there.

Whenever you sell a product through your business, you have to ask why anyone would buy your products. What is it that differentiates your brand from the many others out there? If you can provide a compelling answer to this question when launching your store, you’re that much closer to developing an exciting offer that drives sales.

An Unexpected Feature: The Music Tab

One unusual item that we noticed on the .org website was a tab in the main navigation labeled Music. When we opened that page, we unexpectedly found a single listenable track that we were able to load into iTunes. It essentially appeared to be a workout track that people could check out, which we thought was kind of cool.

In fact, we believe that could have been a great way for this brand to stand out. They can include a playlist of songs that inspire people to work out. What would make this a particularly effective selling point would be to include it for free with the purchase of other products. We let this count toward some points for Fitnetic Nation. But we think this would work better as a bundled product.

A Simple Mission Page That Needs Some Work

While it’s a good idea to include an “Our Mission” page, we found Fitnetic Nation’s to be empty and devoid of personality. The mission statement at the top of the page was simple and synonymous with many other fitness companies’ mission statements. And while the page mentions the company’s devotion to top-quality products and craftsmanship, there were no pictures or other accompanying text to establish the differentiating factor.

The Importance of Standing Out

Overall, the most glaring issue we had with Fitnetic Nation’s .org and .com websites was the distinct lack of any kind of attempt to stand apart. With so many competitors in the fitness niche, showing what makes your products different is a key part of how to make money with ClickFunnels and Shopify. The few product images on the website were simple stock images that didn’t truly show products in action. Also, there were no customer testimonials to vouch for the site’s claims of providing products of exceptional quality.

Looking back at their .com ClickFunnels site, we did notice that Fitnetic Nation had included an offer at the top of the main page. The offer was strong (featuring two free PDFs that would come with an “exclusive bundle”). But it was below a banner image with a logo. To be more effective, the offer would benefit from being placed above the logo. Ultimately, the logo doesn’t even need to be in there, as businesses need to build themselves around logos. A logo doesn’t mean anything if the brand doesn’t have a reputation that people associate with that logo. 

Our Final Score: 4.1

Based on what Fitnetic Nation is doing with their site at the time of this review, we feel that a 4.1 is a fair rating for this store. Right off the bat, we liked the use of funnels. There was also the start of some good ideas, such as the mission statement and the music section. But there needs to be a lot more. There are plenty of winning starting ideas here, but they could benefit from some expansion.

While there’s an offer on the ClickFunnels site, it’s hurt by a logo that’s entirely unnecessary. It’s also important to highlight the true value of that offer. For those free PDFs, for example, Fitnetic Nation could list the prices that they would normally cost. Additionally, there needs to be a specific niche and target audience within the fitness niche. Selling to parents, professionals, or young aspiring athletes could lend a sense of identity to this brand and speak to a particular group. The overall design of the website could also benefit from a clearer identity and engaging visual themes.

Fitnetic Nation is off to a great start on how to make money with ClickFunnels. But there are many ways to improve this business and transform it into a seven-figure earner.
